PROPOSED ACTION POINTS FOR YOUR ORGANISATION: Set fundraising goals Chose the type of fundraiser you are going to run Decide on what areas to focus on for example ticket sales, sponsorship, race card advertisements etc.. Develop target contributors, e.g. sponsors & race card advertisers Create a target specific fundraising strategy Create a sales pitch Draft pitch letters. Organise mailings, meetings & phone calls Each stadium will offer a number, or all of the following opportunities to maximise the financial return for your organisation. 1: SMALL - TICKET SALES Funds from 1,000 to 6,000 Ticket Sales Only The stadium gives the fundraising committee pre printed tickets that entitles the bearer to entrance and race card to the stadium on the specific night. The organisers sell the tickets @ 10 per ticket. The day before the event the organisers meet with the stadium and give back the unsold tickets, and pay 4 for the tickets that are not returned (even if they are not sold). The organisers profit is 6 multiplied by the number of tickets sold. A maximum of 500 tickets will be issued by Galway Greyhound Stadium. EXAMPLE ONLY Sell 500 tickets@ 10... 5,000 gross profit Stadium Charge of 4 per ticket not returned... - 2,000 Profit... 3,000
2: MEDIUM - BUSTER RACE Funds from 6,000 to 14,000 1 Race is assigned to your fundraising committee Each race has 6 dogs There are 720 different combinations of what order the dogs can finish in that race, e.g. 452613, 654321, 254631 etc.. Each combination is printed on a ticket Each Ticket holder gains Entrance & Race Card to the stadium on the night of the Buster Race The person with the ticket showing the combination of how the dogs finished in that race wins a cash prize (that the organisation puts up from their ticket sales proceeds). Club can sell Sponsorship of the Race allocated. EXAMPLE ONLY Sell 720 Tickets @ 20 each... 14,400 Sponsor (Set by the organisation)... 1,000 Prize Money Cost (Set by the organisation)... 1,000 (For the buster ticket with the winning combination) Stadium Cost... 2,000 Includes: Additional prize money for Buster Race for Greyhound Owners Race named after the organisation or Sponsor, Free Admission & Card for all who present Buster Tickets on the night Trophy to present to the winning dog of allocated race Photographs and Information sent to local press & Social Media Sheet for winning dog with committee s or sponsors name on it NET PROFIT... 12,400
3: LARGE - MONSTER BENEFIT Funds from 20,000 to 100,000 An orgnisation that chooses to run a Monster Benefit Night has many options of how to proceed. There is no limit on the number of tickets the organisation can sell for their night. Ten (10) Races are made available for the committee to sell sponsorship for. If the organisation chooses to print their own race card they have the option to do any of the following: Sell advertisements for sponsorship booklet Dog Nominators can also be sold for each race Restaurant tables can be sold at a profit. No limit on ticket sales...
LARGE - MONSTER BENEFIT CONTINUED... SUMMARY OF TERMS There are a number of ways in which to raise money through operating a fundraising event in a Greyhound Stadium. Once you have picked your method of fundraising depending on your size of organisation the following can be included or excluded. TICKET SALES Selling tickets to the public, which gains them free admission & race programme on the night of your event SPONSORSHIP OF RACES Race Sponsorship is an ideal opportunity for the involvement of commercial organisations, as their company will receive full acknowledgement in an allocated race title, and an advert in the race programme, they will also present a token to the winning Greyhound of the sponsored race, these presentations are always photographed and have the potential to end up in the local & national newspapers. This means that all the money the organisation raises on the night from sponsorship goes directly to the club/organisation the night is in aid of.
RACE CARD ADVERTISEMENTS Selling Advertisements for the sponsorship booklet on the night. If the organisation has the race card printed by a professional printer this allows more opportunity with the number of ads that can be sold in the programme for the night. This is primarily directed towards smaller enterprises, which may not have the resources for race sponsorship. EXAMPLE: Quarter page advertisement Quarter page advertisement Set a target 30 pages of advertising revenue as follows: 10 pages composed of ¼ page ads @ 50 per ad... 2,000.00 10 pages composed of ½ page ads @ 90 per ad... 1,800.00 10 pages composed of Full page ads @ 150 per ad... 1,500.00 Total 5,300.00 Half page advertisement DOG NOMINATORS For a Monster Benefit Night it is possible to sell each dog in each race, the person then linked to the winning dog in each race receives a token prize, and the organisation includes their name in the race card. EXAMPLE: 10 Races - 6 Dogs in each race Patrick Flynn purchases Race 1 Trap 1 for 50 Philip Peake purchases Race 1 Trap 2 for 50 Orla Strumble purchase Race 1 Trap 3 for 50 Race 1 trap 2 wins the race so Philip gets a sponsored prize A Total of 60 dogs will run on the night @ 50 each Profit of 3,000 RESTAURANT TABLES Each seat/table in the restaurant the organisation sells above the cost price to the stadium is kept as profit for the fundraising committee. EXAMPLE: Selling price on the night is 45 per person. You sell at 60 per person. This gives a profit of 15 per person. Terms & Conditions will apply on re- serving restaurant tables, this must be agreed with the Sales Operations & Commercial Manager in advance. Prices are higher during Christmas Party Season.
FUNDRAISING/BENEFIT MEETING TERMS & CONDITIONS 1. Bookings can only be made with the General or Racing Manager at Galway Greyhound Stadium. 2. Dates can be provisionally booked for 2 weeks only. 3. No tickets can be sold inside, outside or around the stadium on the lead up to the event or on the night of the event 4. Once the booking has been confirmed Stadium Management will meet with your committee/contact person and con- firm all details for your event. 5. If your group have availed of tables in the restaurant your final numbers must be confirmed 2 weeks before your event date. This is the number you will be charged for. 6. Payment can be made by post dated cheque prior to the night
