Other Comments / Explanations: After being dislodged in Race 5, rider Christopher Brown was examined by the doctor and stood down from fulfilling his remaining engagement and will require a medical clearance prior to riding again. Race 1 - bet365 Maiden Plate - 2400 metres: Chase Soprano - trainer Ken Keys was fined $50 for presenting the filly to race without blinkers which is part of its declared gear. Rider Linda Meech reported that near the 1900m the filly slipped behind. Linda Meech was reminded of her obligation to ride her mounts out fully to the finish. Major Shanahan - connections advised would be ridden more forward if it begins well; settled worse than mid-field. Cool Jamaican - blundered shortly after the start. Way Of The Storm - slow to begin and shortly after was crowded by Za Za Zapour which shifted out. Auspicious Lad - hampered at the start by Way Of The Storm that shifted out. Messi Divorce - raced three wide without cover before being allowed to stride forward and assume a position outside the leader near the 1600m. Unresolved (NZ) - raced keenly in the middle stages. Rider Daniel Moor could offer no explanation for the performance which was below market expectations. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Za Za Zapour - raced wide without cover in the middle stages. Dancing Hussy - rounding the turn near the 800m had to be steadied after improving onto the heels of Unresolved (NZ). Trouble Bound - passing the 800m had to be steadied to avoid the heels of Dancing Hussy. About Time Bill - held up in the straight and did not obtain clear running until passing the 200m. Race 2 - Bay FM 93.9 2YO Handicap - 1400 metres: Holy Snow - after standing uncomfortably in the barriers, began very awkwardly and lost ground. Second Thought - began awkwardly.

Kedleston - bumped shortly after the start by Quick Verse which shifted out. Rider Jack Hill could offer no explanation for the performance other than his mount may be a better racing proposition as a gelding. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities other than a slow recovery. My Superstar - raced keenly in the early stages. Mango Delight - inclined to over-race in the early and middle stages when racing wide without cover. Goegans Hero - raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Passing the 500m had to be steadied when awkwardly placed on the heels of My Superstar. Experienced difficulty obtaining clear running in the early stages of the run to the finish. Vitrice - laid out under pressure in the straight. Quick Verse - led; rider Jake Bayliss reported it was not his intention to settle forward however due to the addition of blinkers, the filly began well. Shootoutatdawn - rider Craig Newitt reported the filly began well today and therefore was able to establish a more forward position. Race 3 - Zoes Beanies 4 Brain Cancer 3YO Maiden Plate - 1400 metres: Fabulous Day - began awkwardly. Shes Moxie - slow to begin and hampered shortly after by Aedesia which shifted out. Overraced in the early stages. Inside the final 50m had to be eased when awkward on the heels of Navy Blue (Ben Allen) which shifted in; Ben Allen was advised to exercise more care. Eagle Point - raced keenly in the early stages. Navy Blue - raced keenly in the early stages. Laid in under pressure in the straight. Indaba - raced three wide without cover. Aedesia - raced wide without cover. Shortly after straightening had to be steadied when momentarily tightened for room between Prince Of Venice and Indaba which shifted out slightly. Knitting - lost its near hind plate in running. Share The Faith - rider Cory Parish reported it was not his intention to lead however the gelding settled further forward due to the lack of tempo in the event. Prince Of Venice - rider Ben Melham reported from his wide draw it had been his intention to gain cover rather than be caught wide and added his mount was not suited by the slow tempo. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Race 4 - Winter and Taylor 3YO Maiden Plate - 1400 metres: Universal Thief - shortly after the start was buffeted between Lucky Ladybird and Ratoute Yutty. When racing keenly, was allowed to stride forward passing the 800m and assume a position outside the lead. Chez Moi (NZ) - shifted out on jumping and bumped Richly Speaking. Ratoute Yutty - passing the 1200m, shifted in abruptly and was awkwardly placed on the heels of Universal Thief. Grandes Oreilles - raced keenly in the early stages. Osos Amigos - when being restrained in the early stages to obtain cover, commenced to overrace. Rider Craig Newitt reported that despite being held up rounding the turn, the filly failed to respond to his riding in the straight and was disappointing. Post race endoscopy detected a degree of internal exercise induced pulmonary haemorrhage that may have affected its racing performance and will require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again. Royal Volley - raced wide without cover. Testa Royal - raced in restricted room in the early part of the straight. Race 5 - Stay at Deakin Maiden Plate - 1400 metres: Oracabessa - after making contact with a rail in the stabling area, underwent a veterinary examination and was passed suitable to race. Over-raced in the early and middle stages. Night Of Regret - slow to begin. Inconvenienced approaching the 600m by the stricken runner. Secretarian - checked at the start when crowded between Matthias and Great Society, which was bumped and carried out by Te Atatu. Raced wide without cover. Great Society - bumped at the start by Te Atatu which shifted out. Approaching the 600m was severely checked to avoid the stricken runner. Miss Saks - began awkwardly. Inconvenienced approaching the 600m by the stricken runner. Apollo Gold - bumped at the start by Belle Sarzy which shifted out. Inclined to race keenly in the early stages. Shortly after straightening had to be steadied and shifted outwards to avoid the heels of Miss Saks (Craig Newitt) which shifted out when not clear; Craig Newitt was spoken to advisedly and notified to exercise more care. Little Dink - raced keenly in the early stages.

Lady Amanda - raced keenly in the early stages. Noble Harris - approaching the 600m suffered a catastrophic racing injury and was humanely euthanised. Matthias - raced wide without cover. Race 6 - Newcomb Sand and Soil Supplies BM70 Handicap - 1500 metres: Theresmusicplaying (USA) - shifted in at the start and made contact with Vatiaz. Andrea Mantengna (USA) - over-raced in the early stages. Kevins Time - raced three wide without cover. Tactics queried; rider Jordan Childs stated that he was instructed to settle outside the leader if the gelding began well, however from his wide draw and due to the solid tempo in the initial stages, he was caught three wide. He added he was reluctant to push his mount forward in search of the position outside the leader as he felt the gelding would have been obliged to do too much work. He highlighted the gelding has an awkward head carriage and was under pressure some distance from the finish. His comments were noted. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Race 7 - City Quarter Bar BM64 Handicap - 2400 metres: Ventura Highway - slow into stride. Had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the straight. Despict - slow into stride. Performed poorly and tailed off. Trainer Ken Watson was advised that a warning for being uncompetitive would be placed on the geldings record and should it not improve at its next start it would be placed in barrier trials to prove its competitiveness. Nothinlike Albert - when racing keenly in the early stages had to be eased off the heels of OCeirins Secret (NZ). Commenced a run three wide from the 1100m. Assertive Star - shortly after straightening, when laying in, had to be steadied when awkwardly placed on the heels of Madam Stryker. Bit Of A Lad - upon straightening had to be eased off the heels of Nothinlike Albert that shifted out marginally. Madam Stryker - rider Nikita Beriman explained with the filly stepping up in distance she was instructed to ride forward from her wide barrier. The Panel noted that the filly had been ridden forward over 2000m in its most recent preparation.

Race 8 - Clark Rubber Geelong BM78 Handicap - 1200 metres: Jester Halo - late withdrawal on veterinary advice at 8.58am. Oscars My Mate Pa - began awkwardly and over-raced in the early stages. Shortly after straightening had to be steadied when disappointed for a narrow run between Squeaky Squirrel and Patch Adams. Rider Boris Thornton reported his mount wasnt comfortable on todays firm track conditions. Iconic - pulled hard in the early stages, refused to settle and was a result was obliged to race three wide without cover. Passing the 1000m, when over-racing, had to be eased to avoid the heels of Chapel Road (Michael Dee) which shifted in when not quite clear; Michael Dee was severely reprimanded and advised to exercise more care. Eased down in the straight; rider Cory Parish reported the gelding felt uncomfortable travelling down the hill. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities other than a slow recovery. Septamore - inside the final 50m was held up and went to the finish without being fully tested. When questioned, rider Jordan Childs explained that in the early stages of the run to the finish, he anticipated Chapel Road rolling off the track enabling him to obtain a run to the outside of Fire Agate and when this run did not eventuate near the 200m, he looked to obtain a run to the inside of Fire Agate, however again there was no clear run. Inside the 200m he again attempted to obtain a run between Chapel Road and Fire Agate that briefly presented before Fire Agate shifted out, and he found himself in a position where he was unable to ride his mount through to the finish. A post race endoscopic examination revealed the gelding to have degree of mucus that may have affected its racing performance and a veterinary clearance is required prior to racing again. Squeaky Squirrel - rider Ben Allen reported the gelding was not comfortable on todays firm track conditions. Race 9 - APCO Foundation Bm64 Handicap - 1300 metres: Meadow Sprite - connections advised would be ridden further back than last start; settled worse than mid-field. Tanjier - slow into stride and shortly after was hampered by Honourable Tycoon that shifted in. Rider Ben Thompson reported the gelding was not suited by the firm track conditions. Black Vanquish - began awkwardly. Rounding the home turn had to be eased when awkwardly placed on the heels of Miss Shrimpton. Rider Ben Melham reported that after the gelding did not begin well, his mount settled further back than intended. Honourable Tycoon - marginally slow to begin. Kaptan Apollo - after being caught wide was allowed to stride forward and assume the lead rounding the turn at the 800m.

Miss Shrimpton - raced wide without cover throughout. Rounding the turn near the 300m, had to be steadied when awkward on the heels of Kracken which was carried out by Attack The Line. Rider Melissa Julius reported the mare settled further back than intended due to the strong early tempo and was not suited by the firm track conditions. Another Bender - held up in the straight and did not obtain clear running until approaching the 200m. Attack The Line - passing the 200m when weakening, had to be steadied when awkward on the heels of Meadow Sprite (Chris Symons) that shifted out; Chris Symons was severely reprimanded and advised to exercise more care. Rider Michael Dee reported the gelding was not suited by the early pressure in the race. A post race endoscopic examination revealed the gelding to have a degree of internal exercise inducted pulmonary haemorrhage that may have affected its racing performance and a veterinary clearance is required prior to racing again. Race 10 - Winter and Taylor BM64 Handicap - 1700 metres: Rikibobby - connections advised would be ridden more forward; settled in a handy position and trainer Peter Hardacre was severely reprimanded and reminded of his obligation to advise Stewards of any change of tactics at least thirty minutes to the advertised starting time of race in future. Stormin Norman (NZ) - slow to begin. Seul Spirit - rounding the first turn at the 1400m, had to be eased when awkward on the heels of Rikibobby, which shifted in when not quite clear. Danza Kudoro (NZ) - over-raced in the early and middle stages. Rider Melissa Julius reported the mare resented the tongue tie and the stable would consider a gear change. Super Rockstar - over-raced in the early and middle stages. Red Ticker - held up rounding the home turn and until passing the 300m. Not To Know - raced three wide without cover. Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages. Maxey Campo - rider Andrew Mallyon reported the gelding may have come to the end of its preparation and added his mount did not run out a strong 1700m. Hammerstein (NZ) - when questioned, rider Daniel Stackhouse reported that shortly after the start he was tightened for room between Red Ticker and Danza Kudoro (NZ) and as a result settled further back than anticipated.
