Board Meetings: Our Board meets on the 2 nd Tuesday of the Month at 6:30 pm. Meetings are generally held at the rink unless another location is necessary. Meetings are open to anyone who wishes to attend. If you wish to address the board on a matter contact the president at least 24 hours prior to meeting to be added to the agenda. General Membership Meetings: General Membership meetings are held twice a year. The first is in the October where we will announce the dates for the Annual Spring Ice Show as well as tryout date. We will give more information on what is coming up in the club and Learn to Skate. The second is held in January when we announce numbers and costumes for Ice Show. Memberships: Club Membership registration runs from August 1 st through December 31 st. There are several levels of membership listed on the form and our website. 1 st Club, 2 nd Club and Junior Memberships received by August 31st will be discounted by $20. All other memberships are already at a discount rate. To be in the Annual Spring Ice Show a Jr Membership is required. To tryout out for a special part a 1 st or 2 nd Club Membership is required. Codes of Conduct: Skaters involved in the Skate Company Skating Club Learn to Skate Program, Annual Ice Show, Christmas Show, Exhibitions, Competitions and Open Freestyle Sessions are required to follow and consent to the Parents and Skaters Codes of Conduct which are included in this packet. Fundraising: SCSC offers several fundraising opportunities for general membership fundraising as well as individual skater account fundraising, Funny Money. We hold 1 mandatory Fundraiser for those who participate in the Annual Spring Ice Show. All other fundraisers are optional to participate in. **Some of our fundraising is for general funds to help keep show costs down. Some fundraising is split between general funds and skaters. Review the Fundraising Sheet included in packet. Funny Money: Funny money is money earned through fundraising on individual basis. Ways to earn Funny Money are to work in our booths at Comerica Park, Little Caesars Arena and Lincoln Park Days, working Bingo, selling fundraising items like Pizza kits and cookie dough and other fundraising items we sell. When Skate Company earns money participating in these events a portion goes to the general fund to help keep ice and show costs down and a portion goes to your Funny Money account that can be used to pay your Skate Company Skating Club Skaters expenses such as Ice Show Fees and Costumes, Holiday Show Fees, Learn to Skate Sessions, Show Shirts, Show Pictures and Banquet Tickets.

Classes Offered: Our Learn to Skate program offers classes designed to serve the needs of both recreational and competitive skaters from ages 3 to adult, and follows the U.S. Figure Skating basic skills program. Our curriculum is designed to keep skaters enthusiastic about learning from the time they begin lessons until the time they reach their goals, and it provides skaters a solid foundation upon which they can continue into the various branches of ice sports including competitive figure skating or hockey. The mission of our Basic Skills Program is to provide a goal-oriented program that encourages ice skating at all levels and to enhance the quality of skating skills at these levels All skaters from Snowplow through Advanced will be registered with the Learn to Skate USA Basic skills Program which is included in the $18.00 once a season Basic Skills Fee. Skates will receive a Learn to Skate USA number and member card. Levels: Snowplow 1-3, Basic 1-6, Pre-Freestyle, Freestyle 1-6, Advanced. We require skaters to be at least 3 years old to participate in our program. Skaters from 3-5 years old should wear a helmet in Learn to Skate. Skaters will receive a badge for each level passed Private Lessons: Skate Company Skating Club Coaches are available for private lessons. Coach contact information is available through the Board. Set up of private lessons would be between you and the desired coach. Holiday Show: Our Holiday Show will be held December 10, 2017. All Learn to Skate and SCSC Members are welcome to participate. A $25.00 participation fee is required to participate and $10.00 for each additional number whether you participate as a solo, duet, trio or group number. Spring Ice Show: The Annual Spring Ice Show is held in the spring every year. Dates are determined by availability of the rink. This year the Annual Spring Ice Show will be April 20-22, 2018. See the Ice Show handbook for more information. Senior Volunteer Scholarships: If funds are available each year the Club will award 1 or more Scholarships to our Club s graduating seniors. Seniors must complete volunteer hours on and off the ice throughout the year as well as some outside volunteer hours. Any senior wishing to apply for the scholarship should see the Senior Award Committee Representative for more details.

Learn to Skate Mentors: Learn to Skate Mentors are skaters who are FS 4 and higher who wish to help with the Snow Plow and Basic Skill level skaters. See Learn to Skate Director, Coach Gail for an application to participate in the Mentor Program. Learn to Skate and Club Information: SCSC will send newsletters, important information and updates via email, social media such as Facebook and our Website, and on our club bulletin board at the rink. Please check these for information often. Freestyle Ice: Freestyle Ice is available through the Lincoln Park Community Center Ice Arena Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30 to 4:50 for $8.00. Freestyle Ice is intended for Skaters to practice their skills with or without their private coach, practice for competitions or solos. This is not an open skate time. Sign in and pay in the Pro Shop. Days and times can change depending on the events in the arena. Summer hours will change depending on events scheduled as well. We will send that information out as we have it. Competitions: SCSC recognizes and supports our competitive skaters. All levels and ages of skaters are encouraged to participate in local competitions. If you are interested in competitions, talk with your private coach to learn more. If you are competing contact the Sanctions & Test Chair to report the competitions you participate in. Annual Ice Show Banquet: Skaters and their families are encouraged to attend the Annual Ice Show Banquet. Both Competitive Skaters and Ice Show Skaters will be recognized at the Banquet. This is a fun social event for our skaters to end the season and socialize with each other. More information as to location, time cost and tickets will be available during Ice Show. Thank you for participating in our Learn to Skate program and being a member of Skate Company Skating Club. We hope you enjoy your time with us.
