Offshore Lifeboat Coxswain Initial Training Standard Code: 5150 Course Duration: 4 Days Valid: 2 Years TARGET AUDIENCE This course is designed to meet the initial training and assessment requirements for Offshore Lifeboat Coxswains in the oil and gas industry. The aim of the Initial Offshore Lifeboat Coxswain Course is to equip delegates with the knowledge and skills required to perform the role of an Offshore Lifeboat Coxswain effectively. Delegates will leave with a full understanding of the roles and responsibilities of the Offshore Lifeboat Coxswain. They will have an understanding in the working mechanisms of the Totally Enclosed Motor Propelled Survival Craft (TEMPSC), and how to safely launch and manoeuvre it to a safe area. General Coxswain and TEMPSC Knowledge. Maintaining Readiness and Preparing TEMPSC. Preparing to and Launching TEMPSC. TEMPSC Handling. Moving TEMPSC to a Safe Area. Disembarking and Transferring of personnel from TEMPSC. Participants must have the following valid certification: Basic Offshore Safety Induction & Emergency Training certificate (BOSIET) or Tropical BOSIET (TBOSIET). Further Offshore Emergency Response Training (FOET) or Tropical FOET (TFOET). A valid offshore medical certificate, or an Operator approved medical certificate, or will Undergo an appropriate medical screening by the training establishment. Offshore Lifeboat Coxswain Further Training Standard Code: 5180 Course Duration: 1.5 Days Valid: 2 Years TARGET AUDIENCE This course is designed to meet the further practice requirements for an Offshore Lifeboat Coxswain in the oil and gas industry. The aim of the training programme is to give Offshore Lifeboat Coxswains the opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge and skills, and practice certain elements of their role in a controlled environment which they cannot reasonably practice offshore. check the integrity of the TEMPSC, remove any mechanical restraints and load passengers safely and quickly. confirm the launch area is clear, obtain permission to launch, operate the lowering mechanism to safely launch and manoeuvre the TEMPSC to a safe area. maintain the safety of the passengers whilst carrying out pacing, transferring of personnel, rescuing a man over board, towing and being towed by another vessel and disembarkation of personnel into a rescue craft. Initial knowledge assessment on the role of the Offshore Lifeboat Coxswain. Practical exercises to: Check the integrity of the TEMPSC. Prepare, board, obtain permission and launch the TEMPSC. Operate the air and deluge systems. Demonstrate TEMPSC handling ability including moving the TEMPSC to a Safe Area, towing, being towed, deploying the sea anchor and carry out a man-overboard rescue. Demonstrate the ability to pace against another vessel to allow the disembarkation and transferring of personnel from TEMPSC to rescue craft. Participants must have the following valid certification: Basic Offshore Safety Induction & Emergency Training certificate (BOSIET) or Tropical BOSIET (TBOSIET), or Further Offshore Emergency Response Training (FOET) or Tropical FOET (TFOET). Offshore Lifeboat Familiarisation Training Course Duration: 1 Day Valid: No expiry date TARGET AUDIENCE This course is designed for those responsible for the operation and maintenance of a Survival Craft Inspectorate (SCI) Offshore Totally Enclosed Motor Propelled Survival Craft ((TEMPSC) Lifeboat) in the oil and gas industry. The aim of the training programme is to familiarise those responsible for the safe operation and maintenance of Offshore Lifeboats with the layout, equipment and controls of a SCI TEMPSC and the opportunity to practice the safe attachment and removal of Maintenance Pennants. Delegates will have a thorough understanding of the layout of the TEMPSC and the equipment installed. LRRS Overview including faults and accident statistics. Internal / external fittings and equipment layout and operation. Primary and secondary starter systems location and operation. Fitting and removing Maintenance Pennants (mechanical restraints). Coxswains weekly checks. Launch and recovery of the TEMPSC. Lifeboat Release and Retrieval System Training Standard Code: LRRS Course Duration: 1 Day Valid: No expiry date TARGET AUDIENCE This course is designed for anybody who requires a general understanding of the principles and safe operation of Lifeboat On-Load Release and Retrieval Systems. (LRRS). The aim of the training programme is to familiarise those who may be responsible for the safe operation and maintenance of Offshore Lifeboats either in an operational or training environment with information regarding the history, concept, design principles, MSC.1 / 1932 compliant Lifeboat hook requirements, safe operation and incidents and accidents. It will also allow delegates to practice the safe attachment and removal of Maintenance Pennants on a live Lifeboat, Davit and winch using the award winning Safelaunch LRRS. ERRV Crew Fast Rescue Craft Boatman Standard Code: 6170 Course Duration: 2 Days Valid: 3 Years This course is designed to meet the Fast Rescue Craft (FRC) Boatman training and development requirements for Emergency Response and Rescue Vessel (ERRV) crew members. Participants must have the following experience: Three months sea service. Valid OPITO approved Initial Training Shipboard Operations. The course is a combination of theoretical and practical sessions. ERRV Crew Fast Rescue Craft Coxswain Standard Code: 6150 Course Duration: 4 Days Valid: 3 Years TARGET AUDIENCE The ERRV Crew Fast Rescue Craft Coxswain training is designed for personnel that intend to work in the role of a Fast Rescue Craft Coxswain aboard an Emergency Response and Rescue Vessel (ERRV) and are already existing FRC Boatman. This course is designed to meet initial Fast Rescue Craft Coxswain training and development requirements for Emergency Response and Rescue Vessel (ERRV) crew members. The course consists of theoretical and practical training required to actively and safely participate as the FRC Coxswain. The Fast Rescue Craft Coxswain course is the first step towards developing the emergency response skills required to be an FRC Coxswain. Launch and recovery of an FRC. VHF radio communications.
