1. Registration: How do I register to play juniors at Berwick Cricket Club? Our junior registration and payment process is online. Online registration instructions can be viewed on the club website at http://www.berwickcc.com.au under juniors. I played for a different club last season. Can I still register with Berwick? If you have been registered with another club in DDCA within last 2 seasons a clearance is required from that club. All new players are required to complete a DDCA registration form which can be found on the Berwick Cricket Club website under (Juniors/Junior Membership/DDCA Registration Form). Complete the online registration and email a copy of your birth certificate and the completed registration form to berwickjuniors@hotmail.com Berwick Cricket Club will submit the clearance request via My Cricket and your former club will need review and approve the clearance once submitted via My Cricket. How much is junior registration fees? $175-00 One Player $280-00 Two Players $120-00 per child thereafter Included as part of registration and payment each player will receive a Berwick Cricket Club Training Shirt. Training shirts are to be worn to training and as advised by your Coach. Must I register/pay to play? All players must be registered to play. Registration and payment is required, we can offer a payment plan for special considerations and qualifying families. For more information, please contact the Junior Coordinator. Do I have to register online? We require all players to register online as this reduces administrative overhead, its fast and much more efficient for all parties. If you absolutely must complete a manual registration, please contact the Junior Coordinator.

Can I register online but pay separately/manually? Please contact the Junior Coordinator Do I have to pay additional fees/charges for online registration? No, your registration fee is all you pay. Is the online registration and payment process secure? Yes, both personal data and all payment information are encrypted using SSL (Secure Sockets Layer). Can I pay my subscription fees over time (payment plan) and does online registration and payment cater for this? We can offer a payment plan for special considerations and qualifying families. 2. Team Structure and Age Groups: What are the age groups and eligibility for junior cricket? Under 11's to be eligible a player must be 10 as at 31 August for the coming season Under 13's - to be eligible a player must be 12 as at 31 August for the coming season Under 15's to be eligible a player must be 14 as at 31 August for the coming season Under 17's - to be eligible a player must be 16 as at 31 August for the coming season What if it's my son or daughters first time playing cricket? We recommend the MILO in2cricket program that the Berwick Cricket Club runs. It is designed to develop skills and enthusiasm for the game of cricket for boys and girls aged from 5-8 years old. It is fast, fun and active program that emphasises maximum participation, basic motor and cricket skill development. What if I have just come out of the Milo in2cricket program? We have a number of Under 11 teams which is perfect for anyone who is just starting out in cricket and is either too old for the Milo in2cricket programme or has finished the Milo in2cricket programme and is ready for the next step to play junior cricket. More details about Milo in2cricket details can be obtained by visiting the website http://www.playcricket.com.au/learn/in2cricket What is Milo T20 Blast and does the Berwick Cricket Club offer? The Berwick Cricket Club offers Milo T20 Blast. The MILO T20 Blast competition is a fun, social and safe, cricket program for boys and girls aged 8-12 who have basic cricket skills. The T20 Blast is much shorter than traditional cricket, with a maximum of 90 minutes playing time. All the equipment is supplied and the games take place at the same venue each week (at a local cricket club). More details about Milo T20 Blast can be obtained by visiting the website www.playcricket.com.au/learn/t20-blast What is the age groups an eligibility for Milo in2cricket or T20 Blast Boys and girls aged 5-8 generally participate in Milo in2cricket and then from the ages of 8 11 they participate in Milo T20 Blast or commence junior U11 cricket.

How much does Milo in2cricket cost and where can I register? Milo in2cricket costs $75 per player and includes a free player pack. Player pack consists of bag, ball, drink bottle, hat and shirt. Milo T20 Blast costs $99 per player and includes a free player pack. Player pack includes a hat and shirt. Yes, girls are always encouraged to play and we have some that currently do. Is there a girl s competition? No there is currently no girl s competition available. The southern metro region which the DDCA and Berwick Cricket Club belongs to is currently looking into getting an all girl s competition up and running. No experience needed just need to be between 10 and 15 years old to compete. Please speak to the Junior Coordinator for more details What about Coaches and Team Managers? Coaches and Team Managers for each team are appointed on volunteer basis each season. Parents are encouraged to volunteer and assist in these roles Are the Coaches experienced? Not all our coaches are experienced but the Berwick Cricket Club supports and assists all parents/guardians in coaching and team management roles. The club offers all coaches the opportunity to undertake Level 1 - Cricket Australia Coaching Accreditation. All coaches are required to have a current Working with Children Check in order to coach

3. Training: What clothing do I need for training? Included as part of registration each player will receive a Berwick Cricket Club Training Shirt. Training shirts are to be worn to training. Dark shorts/track pants and runners What clothing do I need for playing? Long white cricket pants, white cricket shirt (polo) and predominantly white runners are preferable. A cricket hat (wide brim or cap) as well as sunscreen is also advisable. Where can I purchase clothing? The Berwick Cricket Club holds a merchandise night before the start of the season. Players are able to purchase cricket clothing and equipment. Please speak with Junior Coordinator for more details regarding dates. Alternatively you can purchase from any store that caters for cricket equipment and clothing. When is training? U11 and U13 teams generally train once a week on a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday. U15 and U17 teams train twice a week on a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday. Specific training days depend on the number of teams, age groups and player/coaching availability. We usually have a good idea of specific training days once we have finalised registration. We will notify all players once days/times are confirmed.

4. Match Details: What days do the teams play on and what are the starting and finishing times? Under 11's Friday evening 5.00 7.30pm Under 13's Saturday morning 8.30am 11.30am Under 15's Saturday morning 8.30am 11.30am Under 17's - Saturday morning 8.30am 11.30am What score does a batsman retire on? Batsmen are compulsorily retired when they have reached the runs listed in table below. They may resume their innings in order of retirements after all other batsmen have been dismissed or compulsorily retired. Under 11- Batsmen cannot be dismissed without scoring a run. Unless terminated earlier, the first batting side s innings, if not delayed or interrupted, shall be compulsory closed on completion of; Grade Two Day Match One Day Match Under 17 45 Overs 20 Overs Under 15 45 Overs 20 Overs Under 13 40 Overs 20 Overs Under 11 33 Overs 17 Overs How many overs can a bowler bowl? Bowlers are limited to bowling the number of overs listed in the table below, except when the first batsman to compulsorily retire resumes his innings, any bowler may then bowl without limitation. What is the maximum number of wides and no balls that are bowled in an over? In Under 13 and Under 15 matches, the limit on the number of balls bowled shall be nine balls irrespective of no balls or wides. In Under 11 matches, the limit on balls bowled shall be eight. Do players wear helmets? Under 11, Under 13, Under 15 and Under 17 batsmen must wear a protective helmet that is specifically designed for cricket and is fitted with a face grill. Under 11 wicket-keepers must wear a protective helmet that is specifically designed for cricket and is fitted with a face grill. The Berwick Cricket Club recommends all wicketkeepers wear helmets throughout the age groups. What size are the cricket balls used for matches? Match balls for all grades within the DDCA are Kookaburra two-piece red leather balls. A new ball shall be used for the first innings of each side and a new ball may be used for a second innings. Approved two-piece cricket ball sizes are; Under 15 and Under 17 are 156 gram Under 11 and Under 13 are 142 gram Are there any fielding restrictions? An area within a radius of ten metres from the centre stump at each end of the wicket is a restricted fielding area for Under 11, Under 13 and Under 15 grades. The area will be clearly marked for all matches in all grades. 5. Fixture: When do we get a fixture? Fixtures are compiled by DDCA (Dandenong Cricket Association) and are made accessible on the DDCA website www.ddca.com.au This is a detailed task and can take until the third round (mid to late October) until clubs receive finalised fixtures which will be subject to sides moving up and down grades. Season fixtures are also available via Weet-bix MyCricket.

When does the season start? All age groups will commence from early October, but the exact date we will be confirmed by the club. Is there a break over Christmas? Yes. The last game before Christmas is usually the second last weekend before Christmas. The first game back after the Christmas break is usually the second or third weekend of January. The fixture will be available on the club website. 6. Weather: What happens if it rains on the day of match? In general, always assume that cricket is on, no matter what the weather looks like (unless told otherwise by your Team Manager or Coach). Often, no decision can be made until at the last moment as the weather can change quickly. Unless informed, every player should always turn up at the ground before the appointed time, and be prepared to stay until the match can start or it is called off. Where can I find out about the weather and if a decision has made to call off match? The DDCA website www.ddca.com.au under match info/wet weather for latest updates. 7. Assisting the Club: Can parents/guardians help out? Yes, parents/guardians are encouraged to volunteer and help out. While we have a game day coach parental/guardian help is always required and appreciated. How can I help out? Setting up stumps, sweeping the pitch, putting out boundary cones, scoring (where able) and umpiring (where able) are just some of the jobs you could assist with.

What if as a parent, I don't know anything about cricket? It's not essential for some jobs and you can always learn. The club offers training and information at the start and during season. Speak to the Junior Coordinator 8. Social Functions: Does the club have social functions for juniors and parents? Yes, please watch the website and your emails. There are club functions during the season that we encourage our juniors and parents to attend. Can't find the answer you're looking for?
