THE VISION Right now is an exciting time for Lyon College and The Scots athletic program The newly implemented Brand and Visual Standards Guide helps to create and reinforce a consistent and exciting visual identity to support the progress of the program. The new look and feel for The Scots is designed to create a cohesive color palette, appropriate logo usage and message continuity, while being flexible enough to give administrators and coaches unique options for their respective teams and projects. Our goal is to build a powerful brand for the Lyon Scots program, and to expand our name and visual identity into a larger audience. The Brand and Visual Standards Guide includes all the information needed to enable individuals to make decisions that fit within the guidelines provided hereafter. If questions arise or special requests are needed, please contact: Eric Bork Director of Marketing & Communications Office: 870.307.7242 Email: eric.bork@lyon.edu Kevin Jenkins Athletic Director Office: 870.307.7220 Email: kevin.jenkins@lyon.edu John Krueger Sports Information Director Office: 870.307.7516 Email: john.krueger@lyon.edu Artwork: All official artwork is available through the Office of Marketing & Communications. Email marketing@lyon.edu to request files for vendors, designs (print marketing and apparel), and for any questions you may have about the newly implemented policies. 1

COLORS The basis of a good brand is proper and consistent color usage. The primary color for the Scots brand is navy blue. The secondary color is dark, or scarlet red. The third color is white, which is to be used as an accent and trim color. PRIMARY COLORS LYON BLUE CMYK (PRINT) C100, M72, Y0, K65 RGB (WEB) R0, G30, B81 HTML (WEB) #001E51 LYON RED CMYK (PRINT) C27, M100, Y94, K36 RGB (WEB) R131, G20, B27 HTML (WEB) #83141B PROCESS WHITE HTML (WEB) #FFFFFF Note the absence of yellow/gold This is NOT an official color of the Scots athletic program, and is not to be used for uniforms, apparel, or print material. For apparel, please use the above colors as the main color of the garment or item when possible. Since color choices are frequently limited depending on vendors and styles, the below colors are common color hues that are acceptable: For the first three years, the use of only red, blue, white, black, and gray variations are permitted (through the 2016-17 academic year). This will help make the Lyon Scots brand easily identifiable over time. Beyond this timeline, other colors can be introduced for retail apparel. 2

FONTS PRIMARY FONT Myriad Pro Bold Condensed Italic ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz 1234567890!$%()?-,. :; The Myriad Pro font in bold, italicized, and condensed is the main font used for all type on apparel and uniforms outside of the stylized wordmark and logo. LOGOS ORIGINATION OF LOGO Use of the lion rampant from the official college seal. A symbol of bravery and strength, the lion rampant exudes honor and tradition while directly reflecting the history and scottish heritage of the College. Incorporating the stylized L from the recently formed athletic wordmark directly links to the College name. Using only the L will aid in our mission to be reffered to as Lyon and not Lyon College. 4

LOGOS PRIMARY LOGO The primary logo consists of the interlocking L and rampant lion (from this point referred to as the L), and the stylized wordmarks. This logo is to be used for official documentation, letterhead, and business cards, and in any place this may be a person s first exposure to the Scots brand. It can also be used on apparel in the below one or two-color options. TWO-COLOR OPTIONS ONE-COLOR OPTIONS 5

LOGOS SECONDARY LOGO The secondary logo consists of the L and Scots wordmark. his logo can be used in cases where a person is already aware of the Scots brand, or where the words Lyon or Lyon College are in close proximity. Examples include uniforms, signage, print and web marketing, and apparel. TWO-COLOR OPTIONS ONE-COLOR OPTIONS 6

LOGOS TERTIARY LOGO The tertiary logo consists of the Scots wordmark, L, and the College founding year in a custom-shaped shield with the founding year of the College centered at the bottom. This logo is a single color design and to be used exclusively for uniforms and apparel. COLOR OPTIONS 7

LOGOS WORDMARK The Lyon wordmark is a custom typeface that was created specifically for this application. The Lyon wordmark can be used in a variety of ways, including uniforms, signage, and apparel. The Scots wordmark is not to be used alone. It is only to be used in the primary, secondary, and tertiary logos, as well as locked together with the Lyon wordmark as shown. TWO-COLOR OPTIONS ONE-COLOR OPTIONS 8

LOGOS TEAM LOGOS There are two official sports logo options: one including the L with the word Scots to the right and sports team name below, and one with the Lyon wordmark containing the sports team below.
