Poinsettia Palette August! Warm days, cool nights. Time to paint. I hope you are all painting up a storm and enjoying vacations. We will take our trailer up to Pismo Beach the first weekend in August and visit with friends and family. I must decide which project to take along. Many of you have signed up for the fair demos. Thank you for stepping up to the plate. And a big thank you to the quilt coupon printers. We still have time to collect them at the next meeting. Patty Messi outdid herself with 100 copies. As this goes to print, Cathy Villa s snowman is awaiting us. Shara Reiner s patterns are always fun to paint and Cathy chose a cute pattern to do. I have some gourds I would like to share. If you are interested, let me know and I will bring them to the next meeting. And don t forget your tea cup for the exchange at the August meeting. Our monthly programs have been a lot of fun. Wear your mad hat and win a prize. See you there. These two cats are Midnight & Yummy. Karen can t send a picture of the cats together, as they don t like each other very much, even though they have lived together for 16 years. Yummy waits for Karen s husband to come home so that she may be brushed for long periods of time. Midnight is Karen s baby & sleeps next to Karen at night. He knows that if he gets on her legs, he is put out. They both spend a lot of time in an enclosed patio watching the birds and squirrels Karen feeds everyday. Looks like two spoiled cats! 3

RECIPE BOX Easy Chicken Salad You may make this in any quantity you want by the amount of chicken & ingredients you use. Cut chicken into cubes Diced celery Cubes Apples (or green or red grapes) Chopped walnuts or pecans Mix all ingredients & serve chilled. Fresh Peach Dessert 1 large box of vanilla wafers, crushed finely 1 cub of butter softened 1 1/2 cups of sugar 6-10 fresh peaches, peeled & sliced 1 pint of whipping cream 1/2 cup powder sugar 1 teaspoon vanilla Press 2/3 of the wafer crumbs in the bottom of 9x13 pan. Mix butter & sugar together & carefully layer over wafer crumbs. Place peaches on the crumbs & layer with the cream. Cover & refrigerate for 6 hours before serving. ***Another way to do the crest is to mix the sugar in the with the crushed wafers then add the butt to the wafers & mix thoroughly, then press into the bottom of the pan. It is good either way, but I have been told by some that they prefer the sugar/ butter in its separate layer.
