NEWSLETTER Congratulations go out to Rich Hatler for shooting the first perfect score, 40 straight at the January Poker Chip 200 yard match. : Presidents Corner Rich Hatler Fellow NTSA Shooters: Welcome to a New Year at the NTSA. Our annual winter meeting concluded with the re-election of four current Directors. A complete list of the Board members and their contact information can be found on the club website at www.shootntsa.com. All Board members are volunteers dedicated to seeing our club operate and grow for the benefit of the members. The club improvement efforts over the last two years are winding down, and the club grounds and facilities are in topnotch shape. We are always looking for better ways to improve access and activities for club members. Plans are being made now for shooting activities throughout the coming year, with a renewed emphasis on Communication and Participation. I believe transparency, accountability and fairness should be our top priority. I consider it an honor to serve as NTSA President. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or comments. See you at the club. Rich Hatler, NTSA President New members, Jordan Asebedo, Emily Mills, Milk Oglesby, Dan Okelly, Mike Reed, Tim Shoopman, and Jack Walker were welcomed by the Board at the December and January meetings. Please make a point of meeting them, and welcome them to the NTSA! 1 of 6

Action Pistol Caliber Match Saturday, February 25 8:30am, Rimfire Pistol/Carbine Match Saturday, March 4 8:30am, Carbine Rifle Shoot Pistol Report Mike Brucia 2016 was a great year on the pistol range! Action Matches had good attendance. Recent changes to the format allow for pistol caliber carbines and a lot more freedom for shooters to determine how they want to engage each course of fire. If you have not participated in one of our action matches recently, come on out. I think you will like the changes. If you have never shot one of our action matches, check the calendar, come to the club and check it out. Watching is free, the Match Director and Range Safety Officers will be glad to answer any questions you might have. Many club members have reported they enjoy shooting the steel targets in Pistol bay 3. In addition to the plate racks, we recently added two IPSC Flag targets. Hits on the center circle of the new targets will cause a flag to flash confirming your hits! Remember these targets are for pistol caliber firearms only. Please be sure to follow the rules for shooting steel targets posted on the range. We are working on plans for more steel targets in 2017. If you have any questions or comments, please let me know. Rifle Report Michael Conley You can now sign up and select the squad you want on line for most action matches. You must still sign the match roster as soon as you get there. Links are sent from past match rosters so make sure we have your email address. Next center fire carbine match is on 2-4-17 and next rim fire pistol/ carbine match is on 2-25-17. The 200 yd poker chip match is on 2-12-17. The gong, on the far right side of the 200 yd rifle range, is ready for use. Look for new targets and make sure you are using the proper ammo for steel targets- no armor or steel core. Let me know if you need any info on any action match or anything on the rifle range. All ranges are open at 8:00am daily until until March 2017. Trap Report Lyla Malzahn Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving, Merry Christmas & Happy New Year. Haven't touched base with you since the Turkey Shoot which was awesome and a lot of fun. Thank you to Don Jones, Bob Klauer & Dan Nindorf for their help. Donations from NTSA and Lyla Malzahn. Winners at the Turkey Shoot: Double Wobble buckle winners: John Scott & Gary Anderson -Turkey & ammo winners: Charles Stewart, Merv Stelter, David Kay, Monte Sutton, Rusty Perrin, Max Bell, Mike Hupp, Jay Rasmussen, Paul Bowers, Mike Turner & Don Jones. (continued from page 2) Good job everybody! The Club matches start in February, weather permitting, so check the calendar. Please give me call/email if you have any questions. I look forward to seeing you and until then...have fun, be safe & shoot straight! Mike, describing how he barely missed a clay target. Hazardous Weather Awareness If you are at the NTSA and need immediate shelter, it is recommended to use the trap bunkers, the skeet houses, or finally the club restrooms to ride out a storm. Colt 1911 Be aware 45 ACP of your surroundings Polished Stainless and have Steela prepared plan of action. Skeet & 5-Stand Report Jim Peterson Greetings from the 5-Stand & Skeet fields: Skeet December was a relatively quiet month as the cold weather hampered many from shooting. A few hardy souls were spotted on the course taking advantage of a few nice days. In the coming months a schedule will be published for the club league which will run through the summer months. 5-Stand During the month of December, 5-Stand held a Sub-gauge shoot. In sub gauge shoots, only 20, 28, or 410 gauges can be used. This is more challenging because most of the 5-stand shooters are used to shooting 12 gauge. Nineteen shooters came out to compete in what became a nice day. Overall winner was Jordan Asebedo, followed by James Teal and Bill Enders. James Teal shot the only perfect round of 25 (some lucky shots)! Great fun for everyone. A scheduled Shot Gun Slam (25 trap/25 skeet/25 5-stand) was cancelled due to weather conditions. This event will be rescheduled as we continue to look for the best all around shotgun shooter in NTSA. As the weather will allow, please join us on Wednesday afternoons for practice. The 5-Stand Spring league will begin competition on March 15th. You are responsible for your personal protection while at the NTSA. Range Fees: Trap: Singles: Doubles: Skeet: 5-Stand: Rifle & Pistol: Daily Fee: $3.00 $3.00-25 targets $6.00-50 targets $3.00-25 targets $5.00-25 targets Daily Guest Fee: $10.00 Plus Range Fees All around shotgunner Bill (Bull) Enders, engages a target during a 5-stand competition. 3 of 6
