Project Overview 83 Avenue Bike Route Connects the neighbourhoods of Strathcona and Garneau to the University area. Has high ridership for cyclists. The bike infrastructure includes installation of a two-way protected bike lane adjacent to the north curb of 83 Avenue between 106 Street and 111 Street with the addition of a physical median between the protected bike lanes and motor vehicle lanes. 106 Street Bike Route Has high ridership for cyclists. The bike infrastructure includes installation of an elevated oneway cycle path provided on either side of 106 Street between 84 Avenue and Saskatchewan Drive adjacent to the sidewalk. Construction Details The Roadway Renewal portion includes: reconstruction and resurfacing of roadways, reconstruction of sidewalks, curbs and gutters, and streetlight renewal. All sidewalk reconstruction will be project cost, therefore no cost for adjacent homeowners. Work will also include a portion of private sidewalk connectors and landscape restoration. Aesthetic enhancements will be made on City-owned property. 5/11
83 Avenue Bike Route 83 Avenue (106 Street to 111 Street) 83 Avenue will remain one-way local eastbound roadway for vehicles. Protected bike lanes (east and westbound). Parking maintained on the south side of the roadway from 111 to 109 Street. Parking/drop-off bays will be provided from 109 to 106 Street. All other parking will be removed. Raised median through 109 Street. Curb extensions at 111 Street, 110 Street and 108 Street. Aesthetic improvements will be implemented. 110 Street 109 Street 107 Street 6/11
106 Street Bike Route 106 Street (84 Avenue to Saskatchewan Drive) 106 Street is a two lane collector roadway. The roadway will remain as a two-way road for cars. The bike infrastructure includes installation of an elevated one-way cycle path provided on either side of 106 Street adjacent to the sidewalk. There will continue to be no parking along 106 Street between 84 Avenue and Saskatchewan Drive. Pedestrian amber flashers will be installed at the 106 Street/Saskatchewan Drive intersection. Construction Staging Construction takes place over three years (2016 to 2018): 83 Avenue (106 Street to 111 Street) and 106 Street (84 Avenue to Saskatchewan Drive) To be completed in 2018 (May to October). During roadway reconstruction access to the front of properties will intermittently be unavailable. While this work is underway, residents are encouraged to use the back lane for access. 83 Avenue (95A Street to 106 Street), 106 Street (82 Avenue to 84 Avenue), and 95A Street (82 Avenue to 83 Avenue) This portion of the bike route has already been constructed (2016 and 2017). Some aesthetics/landscaping works will be completed in 2018. This portion of the 106 Street bike route was coordinated with 83 Avenue bike route construction in 2018. 8/11

Vehicle Drop-Off Zones Every effort has been made to protect boulevard trees along the corridor. Vehicle drop-off zones will be added to the three blocks on 83 Avenue where parking is being removed due to narrow roadway widths. There is one vehicle drop-off zone on 106 Street north of 82 Avenue. The project team has worked with Forestry to identify locations where trees are less well-established or in poorer health. Drop-off zones will be provided where trees will be relocated or removed. Existing The asset value of each tree will be invested in new tree plantings within the community. Overall, seven trees will be relocated or removed in order to accommodate vehicle drop-off zones between 109 and 106 Street. Future 10/11
