WILSTON GRANGE GORILLAS A.F.C EST. 1945 SPONSORSHIP PROPOSAL SEASON 2014 VICTORES PER UNITEM Victory through unity www.gorillas.com.au HICKEY PARK 35 BARBARRA ST STAFFORD QLD 4053

General Information HISTORY Wilston-Grange Australian Football Club was established in 1945, making The Gorillas one of the oldest clubs in Queensland football. With a proud history of success of four senior premierships and numerous reserve and colts premierships, a multitude of junior premierships and representative players, five Grogan Medallists and players that have progressed through through the junior and senior ranks to play at AFL level, WilstonGrange has a history which is the envy of many clubs in Brisbane. In the days when sporting clubs come and go, Wilston-Grange is here to stay. CURRENT STATUS The club participates in the QAFL State League Div 1 competition which is the premier community football competition in QLD, and is the focus of significant media and community attention. The Gorillas field two senior teams and an under eighteens side, together with a Masters team (over 35) and a Veterans team (over 45), both of which have attracted great support. In addition, we have this year added a Ladies team and the junior section of the club provides over 250 young footballers and their families the chance to play and support the game they love each weekend. Our planning is focused on being a dominant force in the State League in the near future as well as providing a great experience for our community and social players, fun footy times for our junior and youth players with a pathway for those that that want to reach higher. We believe we have the capacity to continue our growth in line with forecast growth of AFL Australia wide, and as an inner city Brisbane club, we are perfectly placed to assist our partners in growing their businesses, achieving outcomes and contributing to the community we service. JUNIOR DEVELOPMENT The lifeblood of any sporting club is its juniors and we at Wilston-Grange foster the development of Australian Football in Brisbane by fielding junior teams from under six through to the under sixteen age groups. This ensures a huge number of players, parents, relatives and friends are attending Hickey Park on a regular basis, so great exposure and advertising opportunities are there for the taking. We pride ourselves on the quality of our coaching staff and are very pleased to have ex AFL and many ex Wilston-Grange players as coaches of our junior teams. 2

FACILITIES The Club, based at picturesque Hickey Park, has undoubtedly some of the best facilities in local sport and is only 5km from Brisbane City. As the first Queensland Australian Rules Club to build a clubhouse, it was not surprising to see the club install state of the art ground lighting and irrigation and continually upgrade the playing surface to keep ahead of other clubs in the competition. We have developed a second oval, Peter Butler Field, with the assistance of Brisbane City Council and continue to provide local community-based organisations such as Softball, Fly Fishing and Netball clubs a base for their activities. AFL9s, Oztag and touch football competitions are also based at Hickey Park and with all the above happening over 100,000 people visit and use our ground each year! The social clubrooms were extensively redeveloped in 2005/06 and now provide modern, air-conditioned function and meeting facilities for community use. Government funding has been obtained and planning is underway for the construction of new state of the art change rooms, offices and medical facilities which will further entrench Hickey Park as the hub of sport in the inner North of Brisbane. THE FUTURE Wilston-Grange is building for the future. The Club has a long-term plan to become one of the power clubs of Queensland Football and to continue to foster development of Australian Football in Queensland. The Club is actively seeking ways to best utilise its facilities by forming partnerships with other sporting groups and associations to further improve sport and 3

recreation in the inner northern suburbs of Brisbane. A founding member of BINSC (Brisbane Inner North Sporting Community), the Gorillas have a long and proud history of working with other community clubs and organisations to provide recreation, sport and healthy lifestyle options for our local population. Hickey Park will undoubtedly be a place for all sports to call home. Our geographical area is being rejuvenated by the influx of young families and Wilston Grange AFC will remain an integral part of this growing community in the twenty first century. join us now! 4
