Children s Desig n a K ite Competition To get the local children involved every year we stage a Children s Design a kite competition based on a theme, (this year it was Energy). It s open to all Key stages of school age. The comp is sent to all schools in the area by the council and is printed in the local Gazette. This year we had approx 150 entries. Judging is done by the festival committee and it s quite hard allowing for age and ability. Below are the 1st prize winners who have their design made into a one off never to be repeated kite. The kites are printed and made up by Roy B who takes time out of his busy schedule to do this, so many thanks Roy and to Hayley who puts up with him!!! Key stage 1 winner Key stage 2 winner Key stage 3 winner Ma yor s Raffle Every year we hold a raffle in aid of the Mayor s charity. Prizes are donated from traders and some guests. The items are numbered and displayed and a bag with the corresponding number is placed in on a table in front of it, so you don t have to win something you don t want. This year everyone wanted to win the Rok with the Bison ice hockey team logo that Schaffhausen made and donated. The raffle raised 276 which is great considering the current climate. 11
