If you turn in at least $1,000 in donations, you may pick-up a Top Crab jersey. Split money among team members and other cyclists. All cyclists are required to turn in at least $300 in donations in order to participate and we are unable to accommodate money splits the morning of the event (Note: team captains may not pick-up packets for team members without a signed Bike MS Release Waiver). If you take advantage of a pre-event packet pick-up on Thursday or Friday, you will NOT have to visit the registration tent to pick-up your materials the morning of the event just show up and get ready to ride! BIKE WAIVER & SAFETY PLEDGE If your packet is to be picked up by someone else, YOU MUST have turned in the minimum pledge amount of $300 and submit a completed MS Release and Waiver for the packet to be released to them. NO EXCEPTIONS! The Release and Waiver can be found on the homepage of our Bike MS website under Ride Day Info and available at all packet pick-ups. TEAMS (PACKET PICK-UP & MONEY SPLITS) If your packet is to be picked up by another cyclist, YOU MUST have met the minimum pledge amount of $300 and submit a completed Bike MS Release and Waiver for the packet to be released to them. To save time during check-in, we ask that you please pre-divide all team money between members. EACH ITEM 1 # IS IMPORTANT TO IDENTIFY YOU AS AN OFFICIAL 2 PARTICIPANT OF 2017 BIKE MS: CHESAPEAKE CHALLENGE. 3 1. HELMET NUMBER Please place your helmet number on the front of your helmet. 2. BIB NUMBER You must wear your bib number while on the route and at the start and finish lines. Please use safety pins to pin it to the back of your outer-most layer of clothing. Please completely fill out of the medical information and emergency contact sections on the back. 4 # 3. WRISTBAND Wear your wristband at all times! It provides you access to all meals and the beer garden. The wristband will include a label with our Bike MS net control number in case you come across an emergency. 4. FRAME NUMBER Attach to your bike. OTHER ITEMS: BIKE MS RELEASE AND WAIVER This document reinforces cycling etiquette and common rules of the road. It is required that you sign the waiver agreeing to abide by these policies in order to receive your rider packet. If your packet is to be picked up by someone else, YOU MUST submit in advance the completed form or provide the individual with your completed form to turn in on your behalf. A completed form is required in order for your packet to be released; NO EXCEPTIONS! #
MEDICAL NOTES If you have a medical condition that we need to be aware of, please notify Haley Riley at Haley.Riley@nmss.org, so that we can brief our staff and medical personnel. Please be sure to include information about your medical condition on the back of your orange and yellow cards and your bib number. If you have medication that requires refrigeration, please let us know, so that we can make arrangements for you. SUPPORT ALONG THE ROUTE REST STOPS will be located every 10-15 miles along the route. Rest stops will have plenty of salty snacks, fruit, Gatorade, and water. MOTORCYCLISTS will be serving as Road Marshalls on the ride. When you see one coming, if everything is good, give them a thumbs up. If you need some assistance, give them a thumbs down and they ll stop to help. SUPPORT AND GEAR (SAG) vehicles. These vehicles will pick-up tired cyclists and have an air pump just in case. Personal SAG vehicles are strictly prohibited! MEDICS will be accessible the entire weekend, both along the route and at the start and finish lines. Medics cannot dispense pain relievers, so if you think you might need it, bring it with you. BIKE SHOP MECHANICS volunteer their time the weekend of Bike MS. There are bike mechanics at the start and finish lines and at all our rest stops or roving the routes. If you need assistance, a SAG vehicle will take you to the next rest stop for bike repairs. Please bring extra money to pay for patch kits and spare tubes. It is recommended that you carry a spare tube for your bike, especially if it s odd-sized. IF YOU NEED ASSISTANCE OF ANY KIND, PLEASE NOTIFY THESE KEY INDIVIDUALS AND THEY WILL GET IN TOUCH WITH MECHANICAL, MEDICAL, OR SAG SUPPORT. Please note that all of these individuals have the authority to enforce Ride rules. NET CONTROL # Your wristband will include a label with our Bike MS net control number (540-809-4067). If you come across an emergency (fallen and injured cyclist/accident) and EMT or Bike MS Medics are not on scene, please call the net control number (540-809-4067), as well as 911, if appropriate. CELL PHONES Cell phones are allowed for use ONLY when stopped.

ROUTE DETAILS HOW IS THE ROUTE MARKED? The routes are marked with arrow signs posted along the route. The markings will be positioned along the straightaways, at every turn, and intersection. Signs marking possible road hazards will be placed where necessary. However, cyclists should be aware of their surroundings at all times. Cue Sheets will be distributed at the information tent at the start line. It is a source of information concerning mileage, rest stops, and other areas of interest. LODGING AND TRANSPORTATION CAMPING OPTIONS Indoor and outdoor camping is available at the Talbot County Community Center. You may camp inside the community center within the hockey rink, or outdoors in spaces marked for camping. When you arrive on site you should check in at the information tent with any questions you may have. Camping is first-come, first-served. We are not liable for stolen or lost items. HOST HOTELS Rooms available at cost to rider: Quality Inn Easton 8523 Ocean Gateway Easton, MD 21601 (410) 820-8333 Holiday Inn Express 8561 Ocean Gateway Easton, MD 21601 (410) 819-6500 SHUTTLING INFORMATION Shuttles will be provided post-ride on Saturday from the start/finish line back to the host hotels from 3:00pm - 8:00pm, running every 20 minutes. SHOWERS AND RESTROOM FACILITIES Showers and restrooms will be available to cyclists within the community center. There will also be a number of portable restrooms at the start/finish line. TEAM TENT VILLAGE If your team reserved a spot, check in with the information table or look for the label on the tent/on pavement chalk. If you did not reserve a spot, please check in with the information table if there are extra spots for pop up tents available. ALCOHOL POLICY: Please follow these simple, but important, policies to ensure the safety of all participants and understand your liability as the team host when providing alcohol: post signs that state proof of age required, have means to check ID, utilize wristbands to control consumption, and follow all local regulations and laws regarding the distribution of alcohol. A group of judges will be walking around the Team Tent Village Saturday afternoon invite them in and show them around. Awards will be presented during the evening program. BEER GARDEN Saturday s Beer Garden will be located at the start/finish line in the field behind the Team Tent Village. For liability purposes, we are only able to offer adults 21 and older two beers (bring your I.D.).
MASSAGES Massage therapists will be set-up at the registration tent post-ride. Club 50 members from 2016 receive a free 5-minute massage. Vouchers will be included in rider packets for cyclists who qualify. All other cyclists can purchase a massage for $18 for 15 minutes. All cyclists may sign up at the massage tent during the event. One time slot per cyclist! Massage Therapists donate their time to Bike MS. We ask that you show our appreciation! PACKING LIST FOR THE RIDE Cue sheet(s) provided at the information tent. Helmet no helmet, no ride, no discussions!!! 2 filled water bottles Rain and cold weather gear. We ride rain or shine. $$ for incidentals (e.g., massages, bike parts) Personal ID and medical insurance cards Sunscreen and bug repellant Petroleum jelly and/or pain reliever Basic bike tools-odd sized tires or tubes AFTER THE RIDE Casual clothes for Saturday celebrations Towels, toiletries, personal hygiene items Medications you may need over the weekend Pain reliever (Medics will NOT provide) Cold packs and ace bandage SUPPORT OUR SPONSORING BIKE SHOPS We could not have a successful Bike MS: Chesapeake Challenge without the help of local bike shops. They promote leading up to the event, provide safety checks before the ride, and are the mechanical geniuses the weekend of the ride.
