$3 Million Dollars What would you do with $3 million dollars? Vacation home? Private jet? (would $3 million buy a jet? I have no idea.) Save it? Well, one thing s for sure: that s a lot of money. Luckily, we don t have to know what to do with it. But, it s obvious that the Wooster Community knows how to raise $3 million dollars. At our April 19 th Team Information Meeting, Wooster s Relay For Life reached and exceeded its $3 millionth dollar raised during the event s 16-year-history! Stop and pat yourself on the back this victory is yours!!!! We feel like this makes our 2012 Relay For Life even more special and not just because we have 3 chairs when we reached the $3 million dollar goal. (though we do like this coincidence) This milestone goes back to the start of Wooster s Relay For Life to Judy Hinden s vision to bring Relay For Life to Wooster. We celebrate with our other past event chairs Lynn Thomas, Keith Meshew, Lisa Reichert and Pam Manges. We celebrate with all committee members, past and present, we celebrate with our community and with every Relayer. Each and every penny raised has brought us to this point! Thank you all for your contributions! The American Cancer Society uses the money we raise for cancer support programs, education, prevention, and research. It s exciting to be a part of this! The monies we have raised and the laps we ve walked have led to a world with more birthdays and improved the quality of life for cancer survivors! We ve had a part in the advancements in research and to a world with less cancer. Now, it s not like our battle is done. Cancer is still out there and we re not going to stop Relaying until cancer is extinct! Dawna has said multiple times Can you imagine telling your grandkids about the disease that used to be cancer? I can imagine a world without cancer and where no one else has to hear that a loved one received this scary diagnosis. Until that happens, we will continue to fundraise, walk laps, and get out the Relay message. For right now, though, we ll celebrate this victory and use it to tell more people about Relay. Get the word out because (to paraphrase an ACS saying) THIS COMMUNITY HAS TAKEN UP THE FIGHT! With all our thanks and appreciation Dawna, Kathy, and Saralyn 2
