New Hampshire took an early two-run lead in the top of the second. Alex Monsalve, Matt Dean and Derrick Loveless delivered consecutive singles, the last of which made it 1-0 Cats, and Jonathan Davis plated a run with a sacrifice fly to put the Fisher Cats up 2-0. Portland took the lead for good in the bottom of the second. A two-out, two-run double from Jordan Procyshen tied the game then a single from Deiner Lopez put the Sea Dogs in front 3-2. The Red Sox affiliate added a single run in the sixth and three in the seventh (thanks to a Jeremy Barfield three-run blast) to go on to win 7-2. Matt Dean had two hits in three trips in his return to action after a month on the inactive list. WELCOME BACK, MATT: First baseman Matt Dean celebrated his return to active duty with two hits in three trips last night, his third multi-hit game of the season. ON THE HILL: #21 Blue Jays Prospect (MLB.com) Tom Pannone will make his curtain call tonight in Portland. The southpaw got the loss in his last start on August 28 in Reading, when he allowed five runs (three earned) on seven hits over six innings. Pannone, 23, is among top starters in the league with a 7-3 record and 3.03 ERA between Akron (CLE) and New Hampshire this season. He also holds the highest strikeout per nine innings ratio (8.43) amongst starters in the circuit. A native of Cranston, Rhode Island, Pannone was originally drafted by Cleveland in the ninth round of the 2013 draft before he was dealt to Toronto at the deadline this season. Left-hander Henry Owens will face the Fisher Cats for the fourth time this season tonight. In three previous starts against New Hampshire, Owens is 1-2 with a 9.31 ERA and he walked 15 Cats in just 9.2 innings pitched. His last outing came on August 28 in Hartford, when he took the loss after surrendering six runs (four earned) on three hits. He walked seven and struck out three. Owens, 25, is a native of Orange California and attended Edison High School in Huntington Beach, the same school as New Hampshire s Tim Lopes. The southpaw was a Compensation A pick in 2011.
