COMPETITION RULES 1 SAFETY 1.1 At all mounted events all riders whether members of the club or not shall wear hats in accordance with the current safety requirements. They must be in good condition and correctly fitted. 1.2 Proper footwear and jackets must be worn at all events. Jackets MUST be worn when jumping 1.3 Galloping or cantering will not be permitted outside the rings and designated warm up areas. 1.4 No Glass bottles or containers are to be brought onto the showground. 1.5 Horses must not be ridden unless correctly and fully tacked up. 1.6 Cars must be parked in the car park and not in the lorry park. 1.7 Any competitor who falls off in any ring will, unfortunately, be eliminated. 2 GENERAL 2.1 There will be a strict limit of 20 entries per class, so pre-entry is advisable. No entries will be taken at the ringside. 2.2 Members must have their CDRC membership cards with them in the ring before they can be awarded a trophy. If the card is not presented in the ring when requested, the trophy will pass down the line. 2.3 Dogs must be kept on leads at all time 2.4 Excessive use of whips and/or spurs will result in elimination. Whips must not be longer than 30 inches. 2.5 Competitors under the age of 14 can only wear spurs in Style & Performance. 2.6 No horse or pony under 4 years old to be ridden on the show ground. 2.7 All horses and ponies are to be vaccinated against the flu virus. Current passports may be asked for at random. All competitors must carry their horses /ponies passports at all times. 2.8 Stallions and colts are to be bitted on the show ground and shown or ridden by someone of 14 years or over. 2.9 No entries will be accepted for children under the age of 3 years old for showing and 4 years old for jumping 2.10 In consideration to our Landlords, please take your litter home. No mucking out of vehicles on the Showground. 3 CONDUCT 3.1 Members shall conduct themselves in a responsible manner at all times and shall have regard to the fact that the Club s events are held on private land kindly made available to the club by owner or occupier. 3.2 Any officer, committee member of the club or official appointed for an event shall have the right to caution a member as to his/her behaviour at the time. If thought necessary this event shall be reported formally to the committee for consideration and any action which the committee considers is warranted. 3.3 Any member or competitor who by word or act is abusive or discourteous to a judge, committee member, representative of the committee or any animal will be disqualified from the class and may be ordered off the show ground and their membership withdrawn. 3.4 All Litter is to be deposited in the rubbish bins provided or removed from the show ground upon departure. 4 JUDGES DECISION AND OBJECTIONS 4.1 The committee reserve the right to refuse any entry without stating the reason for doing so and can cancel or amalgamate any classes if the entries justify this course of action. 4.2 Judges have the right to query any entrant s qualifications to enter a class e.g. height of pony, age of rider, previous experience etc. 4.3 Officials and competitors only are permitted in the show rings. 4.4 No late entrants will be allowed into the ring once the judging of a class has commenced. If you leave the ring you may be only allowed back in with the judge s permission. 4.5 The decision of the judge is, in every case, final. No objection may be made directly to a judge. Objections must be made in writing to the secretary s tent within 30 minutes of completion of the judging of the class concerned. All objections to be accompanied by a deposit of 10.00. This fee is refundable should the objection be sustained. 5 RESPONSIBILITY 5.1 Persons participating in or attending any club event do so at their own risk. 5.2 It a condition of entry that competitors agree to abide by the competition rules. 5.3 The organisers, committee and their helpers are not responsible for any injury, to any participant, spectator or horse or for any loss or damage of any vehicle, trailer, box or equipment brought onto the show ground or parking area. 5.4 The exhibitor of any animal shall indemnify and hold harmless the club and its committee from and against actions, suits, expenses and claims on account or in respect of any damage or injury caused or occasioned. 6 PAYMENT AND REFUNDS 6.1 Refunds will only be given on the production of a vet s certificate or upon notification to the show secretary prior to the closing date of entries to the event. A handling charge of 50p will be levied to cover expenses - 4 -

Chiltern & Thames Rider Championships Saturday &Sunday 1 st & 2 nd September 2018 Show jumping Class 4 Mini Class 5 Novice Class 6 Small Open Class 7 - Open Knock Down First Refusal Second Refusal (anywhere on the course) Third Refusal (anywhere on the course) Fall (anywhere on the course) 4 Faults 4 Faults 4 Faults Elimination Elimination Mini Ponies and Horses are open to horse/pony rider combinations who have not won any notional money BS at the time of qualification. Novice Ponies and Horses are open to horse/pony rider combinations who have not won more than 50 BS notional at the time of qualification. Small Open and Open Ponies and Horses are open to all. Membership numbers MUST be printed on your CDRC entry form. CTR members will be issued with a membership card which they must get signed by the judge in the ring on the day. 1 st, 2 nd & 3 rd horses and 1 st, 2 nd & 3 rd ponies qualify i.e. 6 in total (3 horses and 3 ponies). If the 1 st, 2 nd & 3 rd places do not have a membership number, the qualification can pass down the line as far as 5 th place for Showjumping and 4 th place for Showing. Working Hunter Class 8 Mini Working Hunter Pony Class 11 Mountain & Moorland Working Hunter pony fences will be 1 9 2 6 at final depending on height of pony, see full rules. Class 12 Novice Working Hunter Horse fences will be 2 6 at final Class 13 Open WH Pony fences will be 2 6 to 2 9 at final. Class 14 Working Hunter Horse - The height of the fences will be 3-3 3 max at final (.90-1m). Judge may ride. In-Hand Classes Class 15 Yearling, 2 year Old and 3 Year Old - judge will split class result for qualifier. Class 16 Best Condition may be split at final; plaited and unplaited Class 17 M & M Breeds Registered will be split by breed at final. Class 18 M & M Breeds Unregistered Class 20 Coloured & Odd Coloured will be split at final. May also be split by height of equine at final Class 21 Veteran may be split at final according to height and/or age of horse/pony. Class 22 Hunter Horse or Pony Class 23 Driving Type Class 24 Riding Horse or Pony Class 26 Junior Handler will be spilt at final between under 10s and under 14s Ridden Classes Class 27 M & M Breeds Registered will be split by breed at final. Family Horse /Pony Riding /Pony Club Horse/Pony may be split by height of pony at final, see full rules Style & Performance 15+ Horse and Pony Society To qualify for the 2018 Showing & Show Jumping Championship Show the first, second and third highest placed 15+ horse/pony in the following classes will each qualify. To enter the National Supreme Show Jumping Championship Show, the rider and horse/pony must register with 15+ Horse & Pony Events within 14 days of the qualifying show date. Please note you MUST have an Equifest qualifier card for the judge to sign with you in the ring to qualify. These MUST be obtained from Equifest before the show. The 2 highest placed exhibitors in each class who have not already qualified will qualify. Stallion or mare or gelding, 4 yrs old and over, exceeding 148cms. Riders of stallions to have attained their 14 th birthday before 1 st January in the current year. Maximum height of fences 1.14cm (3 9 ) at the discretion of the judges. Class 17 Spillers Mountain & Moorland In Hand Open to M & M ponies registered with their respective Pure Bred Societies of Connemara, Dales, Dartmoor, Exmoor, Fell, Highland, New Forest, Shetland, Welsh A, B, C and D. Stallion, mare, colt, filly or gelding, any age. This class may be divided as appropriate. - 7 -

Riders not to have attained their 20 th birthday before the 1st January in the current year. Classes may be divided as follows: Show Pony, mare or gelding, 4 years old and over, not exceeding 128cms. Riders not to have attained their 13 th birthday before 1st January in the current year. Show Pony, mare or gelding, 4 years old and over, exceeding 128cms but not exceeding 138cms. Riders not to have attained their 15 th birthday before1st January in the current year. Show Pony, mare or gelding, 4 years old and over, exceeding 138cms but not exceeding 148cms. Riders not to have attained their 17 th birthday before 1st January in the current year. Show Hunter Pony Mare or gelding, 4 years old and over, not exceeding 122cms. All sections to be judged 40% turnout of horse/pony and rider (total 40 marks), 60% for a freestyle show to be performed in an area approx. 20m x 40m and is to include the following movements: Halt, Walk on a Long Rein, Trot Serpentine, Lengthened Trot strides on Diagonal, Canter Figure of Eight (riders can complete an S shape, i.e. canter on each rein only once), Extended Canter on Diagonal (total 60 marks) = 100 max score. Riders must not execute the required movements more than once. The individual show should be short and flowing. Please note, dressage whips are not permitted and children are not allowed to wear spurs. The tack and turnout of the horse/pony should be appropriate to the type of horse/pony being presented.
