JUDE BILL CHEPUL MEMORIAL GOLF CLASSIC, FRIDAY, Sept. 7, 2018 Co-Sponsored By: St. Jude School and the Knights of Columbus Council #8576 Tournament Site Creeks Bend Golf Club, Hixson Proceeds benefit our annual Classroom Adoption Program (work that occurs every summer and affects EVERY student) provides classrooms painting, addition of furniture and fixtures, maintenance and repairs and THIS year we supported and participated in the remodel of our Library/Computer Lab. Please join us to sponsor, play, volunteer or perhaps make a donation. No gift if to small and it will be well used. This event is a perfect example of the strong community at St. Jude. Two of our largest ministries work together to support and assist our parish. We ask that you help us continue this good work. We are Better Together! This tournament is named in memory of Bill Chepul. Bill served and supported our school in any way he could. He especially loved our annual golf tournament. Even as he faced his last difficult days in his journey with cancer in 2014, Bill was determined to play in our tournament. As always, Bill's positive attitude was infectious that day as he set out to enjoy time with friends and support our school and St. Jude community.

Page 3 THE HASA HERALD August 2018 YOUR SCRIP MONEY at WORK- SCRIP NEWS The theme for Scrip this year is Scrip Supports. Stay tuned for updates throughout the year as we highlight the many things made possible by the Scrip buy-ins and rebates raised by our families. Once again we are looking forward to several fun events for all children this year as we reach our schoolwide goals! Our first goal this year is to raise $3500 in rebates by October 3 rd. If we reach this goal each class will have the opportunity to cool off and relax in our misting tent at field day again!! School just started and we are already 14% toward reaching that goal, so please keep Scrip ing!! Thanks to Emily Smith, Cammie Hunt, Glenn and Cathy Czarnecki, Steve Johnston and all others who worked so hard on the library and STEM lab renovations and the bathroom upgrade! Scrip News We are looking forward to an exciting year with SCRIP! Your summer Scrip ing and buy-ins on registration day have gotten us off to a great start. Thank you! We have had many new families sign up for Scrip already and we are optimistic about reaching our goals this year. We invite you to contact us at any point with questions about SCRIP at SJSChattanooga@gmail.com. Remember When Placing Orders: We have now started taking orders for physical cards. Cards are ordered on Mondays and will be delivered through your child s backpack on Fridays, unless you specified otherwise. There may be exceptions when there are holidays, but that is the general rule. Those orders should be placed online and/or turned in (if it is a paper order) by 9am Monday morning. If you place a pay by check order for a Scrip Now e-card, it can not be released until your check is received in the office. Some cards are available in stock in the office, but those cards will be kept to a minimum throughout most of the year. The cards typically kept are Food City, Publix, BP, Shell, Target, Walmart, Starbucks, and VISA, as well as a few other local retailers. Additional cards may be ordered prior to holidays such as Christmas and Teacher s Appreciation week, but the best way to ensure you receive the cards you want is to purchase them through your SCRIP account. When placing an order on ShopWithScrip.com, please make sure you have the correct tab selected before you submit your order. For example, if you want a ScripNow e-card, make sure ScripNow e- card is highlighted, not Physical Card. Many times it is not possible to cancel an order once it is placed. Using the MyScripWallet app will always be the fastest way to use SCRIP. The money comes directly out of your account, and the e-card shows up on your phone. You can also go to your wallet on Shop- WithScrip.com and print it off if you are purchasing it for someone else. Need help getting started with SCRIP: Visit https://youtu.be/lwv2nat98m0

Page 4 HASA HERALD August 2018 BOX TOP INFORMATION Dear Parents, This year, our school will once again be participating in the Box Tops for Education program. My name is Jenny Greene and I m thrilled to be the Box Tops coordinator for St. Jude School. Clipping Box Tops is an easy way to help our school buy what it needs. Box Tops are each worth 10 cents and they can quickly add up to real cash for our school. This school year our goal is to raise $2000! All you need to do is just look for pink Box Tops on products, clip them, and send them to school with your child. I have also attached information on downloading the Box Tops bonus app, where you can earn bonus Box Tops in addition to ones you have clipped. I am planning on having two contests this year, one in September and another in February. Be on the lookout for upcoming news on these contests. For more information on the Box Tops Education program, including a list of participating products and our school s progress, visit www.btfe.com. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me at Jgreene8216@Gmail.com. I am here to make our school s Box Tops for Education program a HUGE success this year with your help! Thank you, Jenny Greene WINE & CHEESE PARTY FOR NEW FAMILIES TO ST. JUDE MARK YOUR CALENDARS! All kindergarten parents and new families to St. Jude are invited to a Wine and Cheese Party in the school cafeteria on Thursday, September 27 th from 5:30-8:00 sponsored by HASA. This event will give you the opportunity to mix and mingle with other parents at St. Jude School and our HASA board members. We hope to make child care in the gym available during the event. Look for a formal email invite shortly.

Page 5 HASA HERALD August 2018 LET S KEEP ST. JUDE SAINTS SAFE PARENTS IT S OUR RESPONSIBILITY! PLEASE REVIEW THESE IMPORTANT RULES: At Drop-off: Students may be dropped off beginning at 7:30 when the bell rings. Do not drop your children any earlier as there is no adult on duty to watch them. Grades 1-8, come up to the top level, pull to the parking spaces on the right, pulling up as far as you can until you reach the handicapped spaces and allow children to exit your cars from the RIGHT. (If you drop off in the back, at the 3 rd /4 th grade building, children should exit on the LEFT.) Carefully pull back into the left traffic lane and SLOWLY exit in front of the church. DO NOT pull around cars in front of you to exit. Please wait for children to exit the car and the car in front of you to leave. Please DO NOT PARK AND GET OUT of your car in any drop-off line except Preschool. If you need to go into the office or your child s classroom, please park in the front lot. At Pick-up: Grades 1 8, if you park on the second level, please make sure that you back in to the parking spaces. The teachers will begin escorting students to the 2nd level at 3:05. When children begin entering the second level, cars will no longer be allowed to enter this level. PLEASE follow teacher directions and do not attempt to leave this area before a teacher gives you a signal to do so. Third level is divided into two areas. From the steps in the middle of the third level to the exit lane, cars may pull in and park. Make sure that you back in to these parking spaces. The area before you reach the steps and in front of the steps is a pull-through area. NO BACK-IN OR FRONT PULL- IN PARKING IS ALLOWED IN THIS AREA. Three lanes are formed that run parallel to Ashland Terrace, with one car directly behind another, and traffic is stopped while children are allowed to enter their cars. This is carefully monitored, and parents in this area MUST FOLLOW TEACHER/ EIGHTH GRADE HELPER DIRECTIONS. It is extremely important that parents, students and younger siblings STAY IN THEIR CARS/GET IN THEIR CARS until directed to exit. THE BACK LOT IS NOT AN APPROVED PICK-UP SPOT, even if accompanied by a parent. FIRST LEVEL is NO PICK-UP NO PARKING unless you are registered to use one of the handi-
