Nestled in the rolling hills below Vermont s highest peak, you will find the charming Stowe Country Club. With its beautiful, undulating fairways and manicured greens, the country club has been a home for vacationers and local golfers for more than 50 years. The course occupies what was a turn of the century dairy farm, and golfers have watched as the course matured into a challenging, but rewarding, test of golf. Three hundred and sixty degree views of the surrounding Green Mountains make each shot a memory to cherish. Following your round, we invite you to spend some time on the deck overlooking the 18th hole, enjoying one of the delicious menu items from our restaurant, Kirkwood s Pub. Or perhaps you may wish to take a lesson from one of our PGA pros at our Vermont Golf Academy. Often referred to as the perfect resort course, Stowe Country Club invites both beginners and skilled golfers alike to spend a day on our course. Who knows? You might just decide to stay. Trying to reach in two is foolhardy; go with a three-wood off the tee to the center of the fairway, then lay up to the valley below the green. The uphill approach is to a back-to-front sloping green fronted by bunkers on both sides. 495 471 455 M HCP 9 W HCP 1 Copyright 2005 The HoleView Corporation 210 240 282 296 326 303 258 323 200 180 This par 3 is relatively easy if you aim for the center of the green. The wind is usually with you, so make your club selection wisely. Shots that come up short may find one of the deep bunkers fronting the green. Going long and ending up behind the green is no picnic either. 160 150 137 M HCP 15 W HCP 15

If you lay up your second shot, play to the 150-yard marker for a clear view on the approach. The multi-tiered green has some tricky pin placements, so try to get it close. 242 206 233 261 290 212 268 226 192 171 116 From the tee, this banal par 3 seems to be unpretentious with its flat green and short length, but watch out, this hole can be deceptive. Find the center of the green to avoid trouble left, right and behind. 477 427 372 M HCP 5 W HCP 9 160 151 139 M HCP 13 W HCP 17

Avoid the large bunker left by fading your tee shot toward the right side 150-yard marker. The approach must negotiate large bunkers, an overhanging birch tree and a hazard behind the green. This putting surface is very slippery, so be careful. 129 158 155 177 183 210 239 145 248 167 259 179 240 179 209 236 263 292 319 200 299 219 Long hitters can reach in two, but we don t recommend trying it. Tee shots that don t reach the flats leave a difficult uphill fairway wood from a hanging lie. The smart play is to lay up just short of the creek for an easy pitch over the deep bunker that fronts the elevated green. 379 361 300 M HCP 3 W HCP 5 485 471 457 M HCP 11 W HCP 3

Finding a flat lie means keeping your tee ball in the fairway. The long, blind, uphill approach is very difficult. Bunkers on the left lead many players to bail out right. Stay below this pin. 391 357 346 M HCP 1 W HCP 7 214 208 235 263 291 This par 3 calls for a mid- to short-iron tee shot. The putting surface is by far the slickest on the course and the five bunkers that surround it don t make things any easier. Get it close and birdies will abound. If you end up above the pin or find a bunker, you re in trouble. 151 136 124 M HCP 17 W HCP 13
9 PAR 4 After you ve mastered our black diamonds, take a crack at our greens. 47 37 yards 74 74 102 131 159 262 248 198 185 The tee you play from may affect your strategy here, but the lake is not a factor for most players. However, the steep hill in the landing zone can make imprudent golfers swing for the fences. Your approach to this large green must find the putting surface if you are to make par. 403 363 330 M HCP 7 W HCP 11 221 188 216 244 272 Stowe Country Club proudly introduces the Vermont Golf Academy.
