The Georgetown Scholarship Program (GSP) Photo from GSP s First Annual Freshman Induction Ceremony in September 2010 Students look on as Paul Goodrich (C 65), one of GSP s founders, delivers a welcoming address
Why does GSP need a program? While there was not an actual program associated with GSP when it was founded, a need for student programmatic support was soon realized. Students in the first class of GSP students asked that more be done to support students outside of the scholarship. They noted that Georgetown s overwhelmingly wealthy population can make for an alienating experience on the Hilltop. It would have been nice if Georgetown had some kind of support system or community for people like me. I almost drowned my freshman year. (Amy Hang, C 09)

Why GSP Works Increased grants and reduced loans Enhanced scholarships Georgetown can compete on equal terms with peer institutions for the best and brightest students Georgetown can offer an education to a student regardless of his/her socioeconomic status GSP connects students with those supporting their scholarships through mentorship programming, events, career seminars, etc. Community and Support GSP scholars graduate, and then join the community of supporters and mentors, ensuring the continued success of the program
The Future of GSP As GSP expands and grows, we will continue to adapt to the need of students, and utilize our network of alumni and friends for support. We look forward to the fall, when we will welcome 150 new students from the Class of 2015 to the Georgetown Scholarship Program!
