Team News Ulster Cup John Spiers and his Ulster Cup team travelled to Cruit Island G.C. with a 6.5-0.5 lead and came through the away leg to progress into the next round. Next up is Fintona G.C. on Sunday 10 th May at Warrenpoint with the return leg the following Sunday. Ulster Fourball Liam Gawley and his Ulster Fourball Team came to return leg on Sunday with a respectable 3-2 deficit from the away leg. Again it was a close match at Warrenpoint with a 3-2 score in Warrenpoint's favour and Warrenpoint coming out overall winners by a narrow 4 hole margin. The second round will be against Portsalon G.C. with the away leg first on 10 th May and the return leg at home the following Sunday. Challenge Cup Mary Mackin and her ladies faced a tough challenge against a strong Dungannon team. A 3-2 victory at home left things in the balance but Dungannon proved too strong at home taking a 4-1 victory, moving on to the next round. Thanks to Mary and her team and good luck to Dungannon! Intermediate Cup Our ladies intermediate team had a 3-2 lead heading away to Malone Golf Club. However, a very strong Malone team proved formidable taking the victory and moving on to next round. Thanks to Pat Best and her team and good luck to Malone! Minor Cup Anne Black and her Minor Cup travelled to Bangor trailing 2-3 from the home match. In spite of incredibly inclement, intemperate conditions...hailstones and strong winds, Warrenpoint battled to a 3-2 victory on the day but lost by 2 holes overall. A great effort from the team. Many thanks to Anne and her team and good luck to Bangor in their next match! Fred Daly Our youngsters faced a very strong team form Fortwilliam G.C. in their first round. Fortwilliam proved too strong over the 2 legs and progressed to the second round. We thank Michael Gilsenan and our juvenile team and wish Fortwilliam well for the remainder of the competition. Ahead in May Many of our teams will kick off their campaign this month with the Jimmy Bruen, Pierce Purcell, Mixed Foursomes, Senior Cup and Junior Cup all in action. A busy month of team golf ahead and we would like to wish all players and team captains good luck!
