Knysna Lagoon, Garden Route Tour: BoTlierSKoP PrivATe GAMe reserve ideally situated along the garden route and framed by the outeniqua Mountains is the magnificent botlierskop private game reserve. on our exclusive group tour, we will delight in seeing rhinoceros, lions, buffalo, giraffes and elephants up close. our safari day concludes with lunch on the reserve before returning to fancourt.
FEBRUARy 12: GEORGE CAPE TOWN, SOUTH AFRICA EMBARK Silver Cloud St. Francis Links GolF: FANCourT MoNTAGu gary player originally designed this parkland course, but it was david Mclay kidd who revamped the course to help it better compete for center stage at fancourt. new water features were added and many of the trees were cut back to provide better views of the scenic outeniqua Mountains. ranked #7 in South africa by Golf Digest, the Montagu will be another great golf experience. following our round, we take a short flight to cape town where we board Silver Cloud. Tour: CAPe ToWN touring passengers set off this morning for cape town, where we travel to the top of table Mountain, one of the most well-known mountains in africa. Made famous for the tablecloth of clouds that often pour down its slopes, we have spectacular views of robben island and the cape town city bowl, the harbor where Silver Cloud awaits. after lunch, we settle in and meet the staff of our host vessel Silver Cloud. FEBRUARy 13: DAy AT SEA delight in a full day at sea on Silver Cloud. Sit back and relax or take advantage of the oceanview fitness room, sauna and whirlpool. onboard lecturers share their insights about South african flora and fauna as we take in the natural scenery from aboard Silver Cloud. FEBRUARy 14: PORT ELIZABETH, SOUTH AFRICA GolF: ST. FrANCiS links St. francis links offers a mental test of golf with undulating terrain and greens that flow naturally with the surrounding landscape. golfers navigate the dunes and through milkwood trees on the front nine before encountering breathtaking panoramas on the home stretch. ranked #9 within South africa, the bunkers look as if they have been plowed out of the ground, epitomizing the links character of this course. Cape Town Tour: Addo elephant PArK we cross the Swartkops river to the addo elephant park, consisting of over 440,000 acres of bush country and home to over 550 elephants. we travel in open Jeeps to watch these magnificent creatures in their natural habitat and learn about their herding culture and intelligence.
Lion Sands River Lodge FEBRUARy 15: DAy AT SEA all passengers will take pleasure in another day at sea as we relax and enjoy the comforts Silver Cloud provides while cruising these beautiful waters past dramatic coastlines. this afternoon our onboard lecturers discuss the history of these shores. FEBRUARy 16: MAPUTO, MOZAMBIQUE DISEMBARK Silver Cloud KRUGER NATIONAL PARK, SOUTH AFRICA we disembark Silver Cloud in Maputo and drive to kruger national game park where guests stay at either Jock Safari lodge, lukimbi lodge or lion Sands river lodge (lion Sands lodge guests have a 10-minute flight within the park to their lodge). we arrive in time for an afternoon private game drive, setting out to find the big five (lion, elephant, buffalo, leopard and rhino) over the next three days. all three lodges are quite intimate and blend luxury into a natural setting with private decks to watch wildlife throughout the day. each lodge is recognized for its knowledgeable guides and trackers who will lead our four game drives. FEBRUARy 17: KRUGER NATIONAL PARK grab your cameras, today is dedicated to safaris. we rise early for a morning game drive in search of animals when they are most active, on the hunt and gathering at watering holes. as the wildlife seek shady naps, we return to our lodges for a relaxing late breakfast. guests may join a game walk to explore areas in close proximity to their lodge. lunch is served on the deck of the lodge, overlooking a scenic waterhole, and there is opportunity to indulge in the comforts of the lodge spa and pool. as late afternoon approaches, and animals become more active, we are back in the bush, looking for members of the big five that may have eluded us so far. upon our return in the early evening, we gather around the boma and savor a safari barbecue.
Kruger National Park FEBRUARy 18: KRUGER NATIONAL PARK RICHARDS BAy, SOUTH AFRICA EMBARK Silver Cloud GolF: leopard CreeK GolF CluB we venture across the crocodile river to leopard creek golf club. host site for the alfred dunhill championship, a pga european tour event, leopard creek is recognized as one of the world s topranked courses and the most exclusive in africa. gary player designed the course and worked with conservation authorities to ensure it blended in with the surroundings, providing a first-class golfing challenge in a pristine wildlife environment. the course is always in immaculate condition and sub-air cooling systems have been installed to ensure the bent grass greens maintain consistency in the summer months. Tour: KruGer NATioNAl PArK touring passengers get one last opportunity to look for the big five. each game drive is different as our guides may follow a river bed or look for newborn lion cubs. throughout the drive, our guides help us spot a variety of wildlife and also help us understand how various animals use the natural habitat for their survival and advantage. following golf and our game drives, we drive to Malelane airport for a one hour chartered flight to richards bay where we re-board Silver Cloud for cocktails and dinner. Durban Country Club FEBRUARy 19: DURBAN, SOUTH AFRICA GolF: durban CouNTrY CluB the durban country club is a fitting finish to our golf along the coast of South africa. history suggests that many will enjoy the course but few will master the undulating fairways and greens defended by lush vegetation and deep bunkers. the third hole is the most famous, starting from an elevated tee that ensures the wind will affect your tee shot. the dunesland fairways at durban country club are quite memorable and beg a golfer to come try again. Tour: durban CiTY Tour durban is an intriguing cultural blend of east, west and africa. with its endless summer climate, durban offers a subtropical carnival atmosphere all year round. we tour this cultural melting pot to the apartheid beaches, and take rickshaws along the golden Mile to the indian Market where shoppers bargain for spices. there is time for shopping before we visit the botanical gardens with its impressive orchid garden, and collection of trees and plants from around the world. FEBRUARy 20: EAST LONDON, SOUTH AFRICA today, we visit hudson primary School, exploring the legacy of our guest lecturer, rob prentis, who helped found and nurture the school and a generation of South african students. now fully integrated and offering opportunity to the previously disenfranchised, the growth and success of the school, and many like it in South africa, did not come without the sacrifice and passion of brave community leadership and students. interaction with students and faculty of the school is something that past kalos guests have widely remarked as both memorable and inspirational. the struggle and triumph of this one school in east london serves as a metaphor to the spiritual renaissance of the South african people, and you are certain to be touched by its story. GOLF AND WINE TOUR STELLENBOSCH February 22 25, 2016 Lanzerac Vineyard Estate Home to over 150 wine farms and estates, the Stellenbosch Valley produces some of the world s finest vintages and is an ideal setting for delightful golf. On February 22, you will be transported from Silver Cloud to Lanzerac Estate, a 300-year-old private wine estate on the outskirts of the historic town of Stellenbosch. Golfers will enjoy two rounds during our stay. Ranked among the top courses in the Cape Town area, we enjoy the relatively open parkland layout at Gary Player s Erinvale, and our second round is at De Zalze, another beautiful parkland layout set amidst the De Zalze Wine Estate in the shadow of the Helderberg Mountains.
