Please cross in the crosswalks on the cycle track. Bike racks are available for our cycling families! Snack We are not a peanut/nut free facility. A light snack will be provided daily, in addition to what campers bring with them. Examples of snack are: Annie s bunnies, grapes, yogurt, granola bars Sunscreen Before every outdoor activity we lather campers in sunscreen. Campers may bring their own, but counselors must see them apply sunscreen before the activities. Please only pack lotion sunscreens (no spray sunscreens, please!). If your child s first activity is Free Swim or Lessons, please DO NOT apply sunscreen before camp. This will help keep our pool s chemistry in balance. Camper Hair/Swim Caps To help preserve the health of your camper s hair, we encourage the use of swim caps. Our staff is trained to put on swim caps! We recommend and sell Finis Animal Heads Silicone Caps. Camper s that have shoulder length hair or longer are encouraged to tie it back. This is mainly for smoother swim lessons! Longer hair gets in swimmer s faces and causes them to stop multiple times in a lesson.
Programming Free Swim Our campers will have one full hour of free swim. They will change in locker rooms, where there are cubbies to store belongings. All swimmers will rinse before and after swimming. There is a dedicated space in the shallow end (3.5 feet deep) for swimmers to play or practice. Once your child passes the deep-end swim check, they are invited to play or practice in the deep-end of the pool. Life Jackets are available to wear in the shallow end. They mus always be worn while doing Paddle Sports. 8ft Deep-End Swim Check All swimmers who wish to swim in the deep end will need to successfully complete a SNS swim check. This involves swimming across the length of the shallow end doing the front crawl with rhythmic breathing, then jumping in the deep end, back-floating for ten seconds and front crawling the entire length of the pool. We must see confidence and strong propelling strokes. Private One-on-One Swim Lessons All Swim Campers will receive swim lessons at camp. Each lesson is 15 minutes long, focusing on teaching safety and respect for the water. Using this format, we tailor each lesson to the individual's needs. Families will receive a progress report card on the last day of camp. Rescue Basic Clinic We learn and practice how we can help a swimmer that is in distress while keeping ourselves safe too! Throw! Don t Go! Safety Swim Campers will participate in a safety swim to safely practice what it would feel like to fall in the water with clothes on. We want them to remember, Yes! I can still swim even if I have clothes on! Campers will jump in the water, float on their back to call for help, then if able, practice swimming to the wall using rollbacks and elementary backstroke. Clothing will be provided by SNS camps. Paddle Sports Campers will be introduced on how to use kayaks, paddle boards and Corcls. This activity is focused on being comfortable on the water crafts and practice using paddles. This activity takes place on Lake Union. Transportation Our campers travel in 15 passenger Ford Transit vans. Each driver has a clear driving record and has completed a driving and safety training. Safety inspections are completed each day before any van is used. We provide full and booster car seats.

Camp Policies Illness Prevention Mild illnesses are common among children. Safe N Sound requires campers and staff to be symptom free (fever, vomiting, diarrhea etc.) for 24hours before returning to camp. If your child chooses not to participate in free swim, there will be alternative supervised activities on the pool deck. We also ask that all families observe Public Health Regulations, which states that if you have a communicable disease, open wound(s) or have been ill with vomiting or diarrhea in the past two weeks to not have your child swim. Participants may return into our pool after they have been symptom free for two weeks. Medication During Camp Hours Our staff are not licensed to dispense medication. If your child needs medication during camp hours, an authorized adult must come to dispense that medication. Please contact us for more details on this policy. Locker Rooms and Changing Areas In our older pool facility, we currently have only girls and boys bathrooms and shower rooms. There are curtained changing stalls in these locker rooms as well as on pool deck. All campers must rinse in the showers before and after pool time. All campers must remain in their swimsuits when showering. Campers are to use the bathroom and showers that match their gender identity. Individual preferences are to be communicated to the camp director prior to the start of camp. Changing locations will be determined by the camp staff members to best fit supervision ratios and their group s needs (ex: a group that has two female counselors may choose to have all of their camp group, or just the boys, change at the curtained on-deck changing stalls. Or a camp group that needs to stay focused during changing time, may opt to use the on-deck changing stalls). Personal Property During Camp hours, campers cannot be in possession and/or use of any electronic devices, animals/pets, drugs, alcohol, weapons, personal vehicles or any personal sport equipment. Summer Camp Cancellation Policy Full refund when cancelled more than 30 days prior to the camp start date. 50% refund when cancelled 21 days prior to the camp start date.
