2 RESORT CHALLENGE FAQ S Where is Hainan Island? The Island is known as China s Hawaii of the East, it is situated 1 hr flight west from Hong Kong. How do you get there? You fly into Haikou International airport directly from Sydney, through Hong Kong or from one of the mainland China cities. Which airlines should we consider? Hainan Airlines currently flies directly to Haikou from Sydney 2 days a week, Qantas and Cathay Pacific fly daily into Hong Kong while airlines such as China Southern fly daily to a mainland China port then connect to a Haikou flight. When traveling through Hong Kong you will need to connect using either Dragon Air or Hong Kong Airlines to Haikou. Why is the tournament on Hainan Island? We looked for a special location with 5 star resorts and world class courses so you can enjoy true wow factor while away, we could not go past Mission Hills Haikou and the Sheraton/ Dunes Shenzhou Peninsula complex. Do we need a Chinese visa? If you are only visiting Hainan Island then a visa can be obtained on arrival, its cheaper and a relatively efficient process. If you plan to visit other parts of China before or after the tournament then yes it would be more convenient to obtain a visa before you depart, we provide all details to help you. How do we arrange flights? You are welcome to use your own preferred travel agent or we can connect you to our Flight Centre travel manager who is well versed in the requirements of our tournament. Should you decide to tour China or other parts of Asia before or after the event our agent can also assist with land content and flights. If there are non-golfing partners in the group what can they do? We can provide options such as shopping, sightseeing and cultural tours or they can simply pamper themselves with a massage or beauty treatment in the world class spa facilities. We will have a member of our team on site to look after any non-golfers. Are the courses world class? That is our philosophy, we want you to enjoy the wow factor every time you play and go home with sensational memories of a wonderful golf holiday and 2 Resort Challenge. Do we walk or use carts? Carts are included in the price though players are welcome to walk between shots, just make sure you keep up with the group in front. Anyone with a medical condition or over 65 may be given access to access the fairways though we do need to ask for permission, a medical certificate will be required for such requests. Any access is weather dependant as rain will certainly limit the possibilities. Are caddies included? Caddies are include at both resorts and usually one caddy per player however management at The Dunes reserves the right to limit the caddies to one per two players. Our previous tournament experience is one caddy per player. Do we tip the caddies? Yes tipping is essential we recommend RMB150 (about A$30/caddy/round) or RMB200 if they do a great job for you. The difference is not a lot for Western golfers however it means a lot to the caddies. What prizes are on offer? There is range of great prizes including Bushnell Laser Range finders and GPS devices as well as Flight Centre/CGE Golf travel vouchers with a value of A$1,000 to each of the winning pair. You have to be in it to win it! What weather conditions are we likely to experience? March is one of the best times to visit Hainan Island as it is one of the drier months of the year and humidity is lower making for much more comfortable playing conditions. Average daytime temperature is 26C while nightime is 19C, rainfall is around 67mm over 11 days and it is well outside of typhoon season which starts late June. Always remember that golf is an outside sport so be prepared and make sure you have an umbrella in your kit, the caddies provide wet weather covers for your golf bag. What is the air quality like? Another reason why we selected this tropical Island. Hainan is predominantly an agricultural, tourism and services economy with little pollution caused by the small amount of manufacturing found around the Island. Skies are typically clear and there is no need to be concerned about breathing issues, it is a clean location, especially when compared to many other parts of China or Asia.
