QUITE A YEAR: 1B Freddie Freeman hit his 34th home run of the season last night, extending his careerhigh total...freeman became the the fifth first baseman in franchise history to hit at least 34 home runs in a season and the first since Andres Galarraga (44) in 1998 Hank Aaron (47 in 1971, 34 in 1972), Joe Adcock (38 in 1956, 35 in 1961), Orlando Cepeda (34 in 1970) and Fred McGriff (34 in 1994) also accomplished the feat. Snapped his 30-game hitting streak on Thursday night, but with the run, became the ninth player in MLB history to have a 30-game hitting streak in a season in which he hit at least 30 home runs., according to research by the Elias Sports Bureau. Freeman also had a career-high 46-game on-base streak snapped Thursday...He hit.390 with a.512 on-base percentage during the streak, which equaled the longest in the majors this season (Washington s Jayson Werth). Freeman s 83 extra-base hits are the most in the NL lead and second in the majors...he is currently tied with Hank Aaron for the fourth-most extra base hits in a single-season in franchise history (since 1900). Freeman is only the second player in Atlanta history (since 1966) to tally 80 extra-base hits in a season... Chipper Jones established the Atlanta record with 87 during his NL MVP season of 1999. Since the All-Star break, Freeman has scored 58 runs (T2nd in majors), and is hitting.442 (23-for- 52) with runners in scoring position (second in majors)...his.441 OBP since the break ranks third. With 34 home runs, 43 doubles and six triples, Freeman is only the second player in Braves franchise history to record at least 30/40/5 in a season... Hank Aaron did it in 1959, when he established the franchise record of 92 extra-base hits in a season (39 HR, 46 2B & seven 3B).
