Class Specs: WORKING HUNTER - Open to a horse or rider of any age who is not restricted by previous showing. Fence heights - 2'6" or 3'. BABY GREEN HUNTER - Open to horses and ponies in their first year of showing over fences. May compete over a simplified course (8 outside fences) or a regular hunter course. May trot or canter. Fence heights - 18" or 2' GREEN HUNTER - Open to horses in their first or second year of showing over fences and ponies showing in their first year over fences. A horse's green status is not affected if the horse has not been shown in more than three (3) com-petitions prior to May 15th of any competition year. See AHSA ARTICLE 2402. To be judged on performance and soundness as above with less emphasis on lead changes. Extreme speed will be penalized. If entries warrant, division will be divided between horses and ponies. Fence heights - 2', 2'6", 3'. THOROUGHBRED HUNTER PONY HUNTER - Open to ponies 14.2 hh and under. Extreme speed will be penalized. If entries warrant, class will be split. Fence heights - 2', 2 3,2'6", 3'. CHILDREN'S HUNTER - Open to rider's 17 years and under. Extreme speed will be penalized. Fence heights - 2', 2'6", or 3' SHSA/VHSA ASSOCIATE EQUITATION - Open to all riders. Only the rider is judged. To be judged on correct position and ability. The performance begins when the horse and rider enter the ring. Jumping faults of the horse are not to be considered unless it is the result of the rider's inability. To be judged over a course of at least eight (8) fences with the second phase on the flat. Fence heights - 2', 2'6", or 3'. Equitation tests 1-11 may be asked at the discretion of the judge. NOVICE EQUITATION over fences - Open to riders in their second year of showing over fences. Only the rider is to be judged. To be judged over a course of eight (8) fences with simple lead changes required but flying changes not penalized. Flat classes will be walk/trot/canter. Fence height - 2'. Equitation tests 1-8 may be asked at the discretion of the judge. BEGINNER EQUITATION over fences - Open to riders in their first year of showing over fences. Only the rider is to be judged. Riders are encouraged to trot or canter over four (4) simple fences no more than 18" in height. Rider should show control of mount and basic correct position. Flat class is a walk/trot only. Equitation tests 1-6 may be asked at the discretion of the judge. Rider will NOT be allowed to cross-enter into any other Hunter (over fences) class or division. LOW JUMPER - Open to all riders excluding beginner Equitation Over Fences. Horses and ponies are eligible. Adults may ride ponies. Jump heights shall be no lower than 2'6" in height and no greater than 3' in height for both horses and ponies. Spreads shall be no greater than height of the fence. Division will be 3 courses, no flat class. Division will be ran after all Hunter divisions and will require a new course be posted. Horses/ponies cannot be schooled over course, but rider can walk course. This is a timed event and stripes, props, flags, etc. are required to be used on jumps NOVICE JUMPER-Open to horses and ponies in their 1st or 2nd year of showing in jumper classes at 2'6" or higher. Horses and ponies in this division may only cross enter into Novice Children s/adult Amateur Jumper if the rider is eligible, and Low Jumper at the same show. This division shall be no lower than 2' 3" and no higher than 2' 6" PUDDLE JUMPER MODEL HUNTER IN HAND - To be judged on conformation, way of going, quality, substance, soundness, and suitability to become or in the case of sires and dams apparent ability to produce or beget hunters. All to be shown in a simple snaffle bridle. Turnout to be considered a plus. ALL BREED CONFORMATION IN HAND - To be judged closest to the standard of which that breed represents, still maintaining a correct conformation. Turnout should conform to the breed or type the horse represents. This class will be split if entries warrant into 2 & under and 3 & over. WALK/TROT EQUITATION - Open to riders 10 years and older in their first or second year of showing who have not won a year-end award (Champion or Reserve Champion) in Walk/Trot Equitation. Also open to riders 10 years of age and younger who have won a year-end award (Champion and Reserve Champion) in Maiden Walk-Trot Equitation. Only the rider is to be judged. To be shown at a walk/trot, (jog) both directions of the ring. NO CANTER (LOPE) ALLOWED. To be judged on correction position of hands, seat, and legs of whichever discipline is being ridden. Individual test performed at the discretion of the judge. Equitation tests 1-6 may be asked at the discretion of the judge. Rider may cross-enter into Beginner Pleasure, Beginner Equitation over fences and Open Walk-Trot only. SHSA/VHSA EQUITATION on the flat - Open to all riders. Only the rider is to be judged. To
be shown at a walk/trot (jog)/canter (lope), both directions of the ring. To be judged on correct position of hands, seat, and legs of whichever discipline is being exhibited. Equitation tests 1-11 may be asked at the discretion of the judge. Individual test performed at the discretion of the judge. GREEN PLEASURE - Open to all horses that are competing in their first or second year of showing under saddle. A horse's green status will be affected if the horse has shown under saddle in any show at any time in any discipline prior to the beginning of the SHSA show year. To be shown at a walk/trot (jog), both directions of the ring with a mandatory canter (lope) in the second class of the division. To be judged on the horse's ability to become a good pleasure horse according to the discipline and breed type exhibited. In order to be eligible for Champion or Reserve Champion, the exhibitor must compete in all three (3) classes of this division. BEGINNER PLEASURE - Open to riders in their first or second year of showing or who are eligible to compete in Maiden Walk/Trot or Walk/Trot Equitation (as long as they have not won a yearend champion or reserve champion award in either of those two divisions). To be shown at a walk/trot (jog), both directions of the ring. Horses to be shown in any discipline and tack appropriate for that discipline. To be judged on the horses ability to perform safely and soundly for a beginner rider. NO CANTER (LOPE) ALLOWED. These riders are eligible to show in any walk/trot (jog) class or division in the pleasure divisions, except for Green Pleasure. In effect, as long as they do not canter (lope), they could be eligible to compete in BEGINNER PLEASURE for up to four years. JUNIOR PLEASURE - Open to all riders 17 years and under. Open to all disciplines. To be performed and judged the same as ADULT PLEASURE. The middle class will be the "Go As You Please". OPEN PLEASURE - Open to all riders and all disciplines. To be performed at a walk/trot (jog)/canter (lope), both directions of the ring. To be judged against the standard set for the discipline of riding exhibited. The middle class will be the "Go As You Please". HUNTER PLEASURE - Open to horses and ponies ridden in proper hunter tack and attire. To be performed at a walk/trot/canter, both directions of the ring. Division to be divided between horses and ponies if possible. The middle class will be "Go As You Please." SUTABILITY FOR DRESSAGE - Open to horses of any age, dressage, hunter or western tack and attire acceptable, that have not competed in a Dressage Test above First Level as of January 1st of the year showing. To be shown at a walk/trot/canter, both directions of the ring. May be asked to perform a halt from the trot through the walk at the discretion of the judge. To be judged in a way to confirm that the horse has received proper basic dressage training as a result of which its muscles are supple and loose, it moves freely forward in a clear and steady rhythm, accepting the bit. A plain snaffle bridle and regular cavesson, a dropped noseband, a flash noseband (a combination of a cavesson noseband and a dropped noseband attachment), crescent noseband or a crossed noseband may be used. Except for the crescent noseband and except for the buckles, all nosebands must be made entirely of leather or leather-like materials. SNAFFLE BITS ONLY, JOINTED AND UNJOINTED. Western horses to be shown two handed in a snaffle bit or one handed in a ported bit. MAIDEN WALK/TROT EQUITATION - Open to all riders 9 years of age and under who have not won a year-end award (Champion or Reserve Champion) in this division. Only the rider is to be judged. To be shown at a walk/trot (jog) only, both directions of the ring. To be judged on correct position of the hands, seat, and legs of whichever discipline is being exhibited. NO CANTER (LOPE) ALLOWED. Rider may crossenter into Beginner Pleasure, Open walk trot pleasure and Beginner Equitation over fences only. (These riders will not be al-lowed to enter into any class that requires a canter/lope). OPEN WALK TROT PLEASURE - Open to all riders and all disciplines. To be performed at a walk-trot (jog) only, both directions of the ring. To be judged against the standard set for the discipline of riding exhibited. General Rules 1. No Drugs or alcohol allowed on the show grounds. 2. No dogs allowed on the show grounds. 3. All junior riders showing in any class must wear a helmet while mounted. The helmet must meet the USA Equestrian Helmet Rule. 4. Adults are encouraged to comply with the above rule. ( see condition of entry) 5. A current negative Coggins test within the last 12 months must be presented before being allowed on the show grounds.
They will be checked at Secretary stand. 6. The judge's decision is final! 7. Proper attire is required per discipline. CONDITION OF ENTRY: Participating in this show acknowledges your acceptance of the following: Participants and visitors realize and accept the inherent risk of equine activities. Every horse entering onto the grounds will be under control of the Show Management, however, Management will in no case be responsible for any loss of damage that may occur, and it shall be a condition of entry that each exhibitor shall hold the Show, the Management and the Facility harmless for any loss, accident, sickness and/or injury to him or her, any horse or equipment regardless of cause.
