ASA Virginia Scrappers Showcase PLAYING RULES 1. ASA rules apply (exceptions noted below) 2. Team listed first on pool schedule or top of bracket in elimination bracket will occupy first base dugout, team listed second on pool schedule and bottom of bracket in elimination will occupy third base dugout. If a team plays two games in a row on the same field they will occupy the same dugout. Teams will flip at home plate for home/visiting team. 3. All teams must be ready to begin play up to thirty (30) minutes prior to the scheduled start time should a field become available earlier than scheduled. 4. The plate umpire will announce the official start time to the coaches following the pregame meeting. Official running time for games may be suspended at the discretion of the umpires for injuries. 5. Pool games: Official game will end at 7 innings or 1 hour 20 minutes. Games tied at completion of inning will end in a tie. The inning being played at the expiration of time will be completed. No new innings will begin after time has expired. Pool games may end in a tie score. Teams may use unlimited defensive substitution. Teams may bat as many batters as they want but must finish with the numbers of batters they started with. 6. Single Elimination games: Teams may use unlimited defensive substitution. Teams may bat as many batters as they want but must finish with the numbers of batters they started with. Official game will end at 7 innings or 1 hour 20 minutes. Games tied at completion of last inning will begin international tie breaker. 7. Courtesy Runner: A courtesy runner for the pitcher /catcher can be used in accordance with ASA rules or the last batted. 8. A new inning is considered to have stared immediately after 3 rd out of the previous inning. 9. Mercy Rule: 15 after 3, 12 after 4, 8 after 5 10. No protest. Rule conflicts will be settled at the time of occurrence by a tournament designee and the UIC. All decisions are final. 11. The tournament director reserves the right to alter or modify the tournament schedule, time limits, rules, and regulations due to weather or unanticipated conditions regardless of the game minimums or published rules, in order to complete the tournament.
