Little Brewers Current grades K-2nd Philosophy: This program is instructional in nature and is organized to teach the basics of the game. Emphasis is on learning fundamental skills in a fun and positive atmosphere with a focus on good sportsmanship, team play, courtesy and respect to players, coaches, officials and parents. The coaches do the pitching in this league. The league does not keep win/loss records. Season: The season typically begins mid-june and runs for 7 weeks. Games are typically played on Monday and Wednesday evenings. Most games will be at 6PM. Times and diamonds will be determined by MBSC. Games have a 1-½ hour time limit. Teams typically play 12-14 games. Team Composition: The league director without consideration to talent levels organizes teams. Consideration is given to keeping players from the same neighborhood or school together. There are typically 3-4 teams from our program in the league. The league is comprised of teams from communities throughout Dane and Sauk counties, so some travel may be required. All teams are coached by volunteer coaches.

U10 Recreational Program (formally Cardinal) Current grades 3rd-4th skill appropriate opportunities with an emphasis is on learning fundamental skills in a fun and positive atmosphere. The focus is on good sportsmanship, team play, courtesy and respect to players, coaches, officials and parents. Season: Practices begin in May. The season begins mid-june and runs for 7 weeks. Middleton Girls Youth Competitive Softball Operational Guidelines Adopted: Feb. 2003 Modified Feb. 2013 Middleton Girls Youth Competitive Softball participates in the South Central and Metro Girls Softball Leagues and in tournaments on weekends during late spring and summer. U18 teams may participate in other leagues. Teams are formed based on results of an evaluation. Not all players evaluated will be placed on a competitive team. If you are not selected for a competitive team you will automatically be placed on one of our recreational league teams. We ask that the player and their parent(s) understand the time commitments noted below and understand that we expect softball to take priority over other sports during the softball season. We reserve the right to disqualify a player from participation on our competitive teams if the player cannot meet or agree to the time commitments for practice, games and tournaments. Philosophy: Eligibility: Evaluations: Teams: To develop players that will someday tryout for Middleton High School Girls Softball teams, teach the basics of softball, foster enjoyment of the game, and to provide the player with the opportunity to play against more talented and competitive teams. Birth Date as of January 1, see team descriptions below (Example if you are 12 years old or younger on Jan. 1 you are eligible to play with the U12s if you are 13 you would have to play with the U14s). U10, U12 and U14 players must reside in the Middleton Cross Plains School District. U16 & U18 Players must have played for the Middleton High School Varsity or Junior Varsity Softball teams or have been appointed to the team by MBSC League Directors and Middleton High School Coaching staff. Players wishing to participate on a U10, U12 or U14 team must participate in evaluations held in the spring of each year. Current freshmen and sophomores will be evaluated for the U16 team to fill remaining spots not filled by Junior Varsity players. Players currently on the Middleton High School Varsity or Junior Varsity Softball teams are exempt from evaluations. The U18 and U16 teams will be formed in cooperation with the Middleton High School Coaching Staff. Teams will consist of 13 to 14 players on each team. U10, U12, and U14 Two teams at each age level.. U16 and U18 One team at each age level. Coaches & Managers: Volunteer coaches will be selected by the league directors. Each team will be required to appoint a team manager(s) from parents of players on the team. The team manager will assist the coach(s). Cost: Travel: Practice Schedule: League Games: Tournaments: Base Player Fee: This fee is paid by both recreational and competitive teams. Competitive Team Fees: Are in addition to the base player fee, this fee covers the costof participating in competitive leagues and the additional uniform fees. Tournament Fees: Are paid on an as need basis by the player. These fees are in addition tothe Competitive Fee and the Base Player Fee. Our teams are known as traveling teams by which we mean that your team will complete against teams from other communities (as close as Verona and as far away as Janesville or Reedsburg). Tournaments may require farther travel. Competitive teams practice 1-2 times per week. Practices for U10, U12 & U14 levels will begin late April early May, depending on weather. Practices for U16 & U18 will begin at the end of the high school season. Practices continue through the end of the season. League games for U10, U12 & U14 levels are held late May till end of July. League games for U16 & U18 levels are held mid-june till end of July or early August. Most league games are played on Tuesday and/or Thursdays. Each team will play in tournaments in addition to league play. U10 level plays in 2 tournaments U12, U14, U16 & U18 levels play in 3 5 tournaments
