Office of Institutional Research And Planning Ivy Tech 2009-10 Graduate Survey Data Tabulations Results by Region Region H: Central Indiana May 2011 Prepared by Research & Marketing Insight, Inc.

How to Use These Tables The tabulation banners show the raw numbers, frequencies (percentages), and other statistics for the survey. The first column is the total for all survey respondents. The data are unweighted. The columns to the right of the Total column represent raw data, frequencies, and other statistics for selected subgroups that will be used in the analysis. Each column has an upper-case letter positioned underneath the column title. As you look at the tables, you will see that some percentages and means have letters positioned below them. These letters show that the particular result is statistically significantly greater than the data in the designated columns. The cutoff, or confidence level, set for the statistical tests is 95%. This means that if you repeated this survey 100 times, 95 out of the 100 times you would receive a result within one standard deviation from this survey s response for that item. The footnote after each table indicates which columns have been tested against each other. For example: Assume 70.6% of respondents in the Fine Arts and Design division (column B) and 57.8% of respondents in the Business division (column C) cited Personal interest or self-improvement as an educational objective they hoped to accomplish by attending Ivy Tech. In the tab banner, assume Fine Arts and Design s 70.6% has a C beneath it. This means that the proportion of respondents in the Fine Arts and Design division is significantly higher than the proportion of respondents in the Business division who wished to accomplish this objective by attending Ivy Tech. The Base for each question represents the total number of possible respondents for that question. The base size may vary depending on who is eligible to respond to a given question, and who actually responds. As a rule, those who do not respond, or say they don t know, are not included in the base. The top number for each item represents the actual number of people giving that answer. The bottom number shows the percentage of the base those respondents represent. While percentages are rounded to the first decimal point in the tables, we have rounded to the nearest whole number for reports. For some questions on the survey, respondents were permitted to provide more than one answer. The percentages may greatly exceed 100 if you add the numbers in the column for these items.
