REVIEW REVIEW JUNE 27, 2001 At NBA Draft 2001, the Bulls traded Elton Brand to the L.A. Clippers for Brian Skinner and the draft rights to Tyson Chandler. JANUARY 17, 2002 - AT ATLANTA HAWKS The Bulls broke an 18-game road losing streak with a 94-91 victory over Atlanta at Philips Arena. AUGUST 7, 2001 The Bulls signed free agent Eddie Robinson. OCTOBER 31, 2001 Jamal Crawford began a 58-game stint on the injured list to recover from left knee surgery. NOVEMBER 3, 2001 - VS. NEW YORK KNICKS JANUARY 19, 2002 - VS. WASHINGTON WIZARDS Bulls all-time leading scorer Michael Jordan made his first return to the United Center as an opponent with the Washington Wizards. Jordan scored 16 points and grabbed 12 rebounds in a 77-69 Washington victory. FEBRUARY 2, 2002 - AT SEATTLE SUPERSONICS Chicago ended a 26-game road losing streak in Western Conference arenas with a 97-91 victory over the Sonics. Their 41- point fourth quarter effort was the highest the Bulls scored in any single quarter during the season. The team posted its first victory of the season - an 84-79 win over the Knicks. NOVEMBER 8, 2001 - AT MINNESOTA TIMBERWOLVES The Bulls suffered the worst loss in franchise history with a 53-point loss to Minnesota after grabbing a franchise-record-low 9 rebounds in the first half. NOVEMBER 27, 2001 - AT NEW JERSEY NETS Chicago s 100-68 loss at New Jersey marked the biggest loss to the Nets in franchise history a 32-point margin. The six points the team scored in the third quarter tied their all-time record low for points scored in a quarter. FEBRUARY 6, 2002 - AT L.A. LAKERS With their 97-89 victory over the Lakers, the Bulls swept the season series for the first time since the 1995-96 season. The victory also broke a four-game losing streak in L.A. and was the first Bulls victory in the Staples Center. FEBRUARY 18, 2002 - AT MIAMI HEAT In a 102-80 loss to the Heat, the Bulls grabbed an all-time franchise-low 25 rebounds. NOVEMBER 29, 2001 - VS. MIAMI HEAT By defeating Miami, 78-72, Chicago broke a 10-game losing streak. FEBRUARY 19, 2002 The Bulls acquired Jalen Rose, Travis Best, Norman Richardson and a conditional second-round draft pick from Indiana for Ron Artest, Ron Mercer, Brad Miller and Kevin Ollie just two days before the NBA s trading deadline. DECEMBER 4, 2001 - VS. HOUSTON ROCKETS The Bulls earned their largest margin of victory in Tim Floyd s tenure with a commanding 28-point (103-75) victory over Houston. DECEMBER 22, 2001 - VS. MINNESOTA TIMBERWOLVES Tim Floyd coached his final game for the Bulls, a 95-74 loss. In his four-year career as the team s head coach, Floyd amassed a 49-190 (.205) record. DECEMBER 24, 2001 Head Coach Tim Floyd resigned. Assistant Bill Berry was named Interim Head Coach. DECEMBER 26, 2001 - AT MEMPHIS GRIZZLIES The Bulls made their first road trip to Memphis home of the newly relocated Grizzlies. Under interim head coach Bill Berry, the team dropped their debut in Tennessee by a 107-85 mark. DECEMBER 28, 2001 The Bulls named Bill Cartwright the new Head Coach. DECEMBER 29, 2001 - VS. CLEVELAND CAVALIERS The Bill Cartwright era began with the new head coach notching his first win in his debut a 103-80 victory over the Cavs. DECEMBER 31, 2001 - VS. MILWAUKEE BUCKS In a New Year s Eve afternoon contest, the Bulls snapped a five-game losing streak to the Bucks, defeating Milwaukee, 90-83, and notched their second straight win under new head coach Bill Cartwright. JANUARY 5, 2002 - VS. UTAH JAZZ The Jazz attempted a United Center-record 53 free throws, making a United Center-record 37. FEBRUARY 23, 2002 - VS. GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS With a 105-91 win over the Warriors, the Bulls recorded a three-game winning streak their first in two years. MARCH 3, 2002 - AT NEW JERSEY NETS Jamal Crawford was activated from the injured list after missing the first 58 games of the season. He played 15 minutes in his return, scoring 10 points with 2 assists, 2 steals and no turnovers. MARCH 8, 2002 - VS. L.A. CLIPPERS Former Bull Elton Brand made his debut as an opponent at the United Center with the Los Angeles Clippers. Brand scored 15 points and had 10 rebounds, leading the Clippers to a 94-90 win. MARCH 11, 2002 The Chicago Bulls and Head Coach Bill Cartwright mutually agreed to exercise the three-year option on Cartwright s contract. MARCH 16, 2002 - AT HOUSTON ROCKETS Jalen Rose scored a career and team season-high 44 points in the team s double overtime win in Houston (114-112). The victory snapped an eight-game losing streak for Chicago. APRIL 5, 2002 - VS. TORONTO RAPTORS Toronto s 98-96 win over the Bulls marked the 14th straight loss for Chicago in the series. APRIL 8, 2002 - VS. BOSTON CELTICS The visiting Celtics set a new United Center record for three-point shot attempts with 31. APRIL 17, 2002 - AT CHARLOTTE HORNETS The Bulls closed out the regular season winning four of their last six games (three against playoff-bound teams), posting 20+ wins for the first time since 1998. Bill Cartwright ended his first season as an NBA head coach with a 17-38 (.309) record. JANUARY 12, 2002 - VS. L.A. LAKERS In a 106-104 overtime decision, the Bulls broke a six-game losing streak to the two-time defending World Champion Los Angeles Lakers at the United Center Chicago s first win against the club since 1997. 142 143
