You do not have to weigh, only if you wish to enter the Rate of Gain contest, So to repeat you must bring the calf in and a tag will be placed in their ear to show at the Putnam County Fair, If this tag is lost you MUST contact the PC Extension Office ASAP to have another tag put in the ear. No calves will show without a tag! Also at this time we will be Nose Printing for Missouri State Fair and pulling DNA hair samples for Ak-Sar-Ben. Shooting Sports Leader Certification The spring shooting sports leader certification workshop is quickly approaching! The spring workshop is taking place March 24-26, 2017 at Camp LifeChange in Clinton, MO. Registration opens within 4HOnline on February 1 and closes on March 15, or when full. The cost for the workshop is $80.00 and includes five meals, overnight lodging (one or two nights), and workshop materials. Workshops usually fill up before the deadline so do not delay! For more information about the workshop, please check out our website at: http://4h.missouri.edu/shooting-sports-events/ shooting-sports-leader-certification Missouri 4-H Foundation Scholarships The Missouri 4-H Foundation offers more than sixty scholarships every year, each ranging from $500 to $2,500. One scholarship application permits applicants to be considered for any available scholarship, subject to conditions specified by the donor. Applications are due to the extension office by Friday, March 25. http://4h.missouri.edu/recognition/scholarships/ PROJECT CHANGE DEADLINE ATTENTION PARENTS March 1 is the deadline to make changes to your child s 4-H Enrollments. No changes will be accepted after that date. Please go online now to review your child s enrollment and if there is a project they are not going to participate in please delete that project from their enrollment, this will help me when sending out letters about project meetings, etc. SEWING PROJECT LEADER Chris Yunick has volunteered as a Sewing Project leader and only has one 4-Her s at this time and is willing to share her talents with other Sewing project 4-Her s. If you would like to be included in Chris s group just let Mary at the PC Extension Office know and she will get her the information. 4-H ACHIEVEMENT DAY JULY 20, 2017 FCS FINANCIAL SCHOLARSHIPS FCS Financial believes in the future of our next generation. For that reason, the Board of Directors began the FCS Financial Scholarship Program in 2004 to support higher education for children or grandchildren of FCSF customers. Each year up to 35 scholarships in the amount of $1500. each are provided to eligible Missouri high school seniors. Since its inception, more that $412,000 has been awarded through the scholarship program. The application requires information on school activities, volunteer, and work history. Scholarship applications are due March 1. Club grants are also available, due April 1. Ag youth funding is also available for qualifying 4-H projects. 16 th Annual 4-H Day with the St. Louis Cardinals Missouri and Illinois 4-H members, parents, volunteers and alumni will gather at Busch Stadium on Saturday, May 20, 2017 for the 16th annual 4-H Day with the Cardinals. The Cardinals will be playing the San Francisco Giants in a 6:15 p.m. game. Tickets for the game will be $25.00 each and includes a specially designed t-shirt featuring the 4-H Clover on the back and the Cardinals emblem on the front. 4-H members, leaders, alumni, and their families who purchase 4-H Day with the Cardinals tickets will have the opportunity to participate in a parade around the Busch Stadium outfield. Pre-game ceremonies will include a recitation of the 4-H pledge and ceremonial first pitches by an Illinois and Missouri 4-H member. As an added bonus the Cardinals give-away item for the game is a Cardinals pet bowl. The first 30,000 fans age 16 and older will receive this one-of-a-kind item. Tickets for the event must be ordered on the 4-H Day with the Cardinals order form. Ticket order forms are available at the University of Missouri Extension office, or on the web at www.mo4h.missouri.edu. Ticket orders must be postmarked by April 10, 2017. Tickets usually sell out before the order deadline so families are encouraged to order early. 4-H Clubs, counties, or groups of families who would like to be seated together must send their orders in the same envelope. Families can also participate in the 4-H Day with the Cardinals raffle to win prizes such as throwing out the first pitch, autographed baseballs, and tickets to other Cardinal baseball games. Funds raised through the raffle support Missouri and Illinois 4-H programs. 4-H Day with the Cardinals has raised almost $75,000.00 to support Missouri and Illinois 4-H programs in the first 15 years. For more information contact the Putnam County Extension Office. 2nd Annual 4-H Day with the Kansas City Royals Missouri and Kansas 4-H members, parents, volunteers, supporters, and alumni will gather at Kauffman Stadium on Friday, September 8, 2017 for the 2 nd annual 4-H Day with the Royals playing the Minnesota Twins. Tickets for the game will be early bird $40 each by April 15 or $60 by July 15, and includes a specially designed t-shirt featuring the 4-H Clover on the back and the Royals emblem on the front. Pre-game ceremonies will include one 4- H member joining the Captains Club to represent 4-H prior to the game and four 4-H members and/or volunteers attending batting practice. Tickets for the event must be ordered on the 4-H Day with the Royals website at http://tinyurl.com/gt4e7k9. Tickets usually sell out before the order deadline, so families are encouraged to order early. 4-H Clubs, counties, or groups of families who would like to be seated together must send their orders on the same form. Families can also participate in the 4-H Day with the Royals raffle to win prizes. Summers @ Mizzou offers seven different camps: Scrub-In to a Health Career, Build-a-Business, Dog Days of Summer, Network Forensics for Hacker Trackers, Robo Palooza, Telling the Story of the Stars and GeoTech: Drone Camp. These camps are offered as residential or day camps. Camps are available for a wide range of ages beginning with 12 year olds; check the registration information for the age range of each camp.
