ITS ALL ABOUT THE CONE.

To everyone who witnessed my losing my temper yesterday at Grissom, I am sorry. What I did was un-called for and hurt the Region and upset several people. I have no excuse for my behavior and can assure you I am taking steps to make sure it will not happen again. I have already made two attempts to apologize to the party I directed my anger at and have already apologized to one other person who was in the bus a nd had expressed concern. Again, I am very sorry for my actions, I did not hold myself to the standards to which this Region deserves. Sincerely, Dave Dusterberg

We would like to welcome these 14 members who have joined (or come back) to the Indianapolis Region SCCA since April. As of this writing, Indianapolis Region SCCA is 415 members strong! May 9, 2013 INDY REGION BOD MEETING MINUTES The meeting began at 645pm with the approval of the April meeting minutes. Clutch Chatter would love to post your racing stories, projects, anything racing! You do not need to be a professional writer just tell us your story! As of this date, there are over 400 Indy Region members! Keep bringing in your referrals and be sure to advertise our region with your free Indy Region stickers! The Rally Program is still in need of more volunteers for the Nationals. Please contact Chuck Hansen if you are able to help out. th The Solo Program is looking great! The first points event was held May 5. This event had 65 preregistered drivers. PLEASE take advantage of saving $5.00 and PRE-REGISTER for all the events for the year by going to Motorsportsreg.com. It s no big deal if you register and don t come; we just simply delete you after registration closes at the event. If you pre-register, you help the registration process go a lot faster which means more walking the course time for you! The next points event will be held on th May 19 at the Indianapolis Speedrome. Hope to see you there! Work day at Grissom is set for May 25 beginning at 9am. Please bring work items such as wheelbarrows, rakes, mowers. The Rally Cross Program is still looking for a site to hold their events. While you re out driving, look for areas that may be possible sites. Please contact Travis Camp if you have any ideas. New Business again included a Street Survival event set for June 15 at Connersville. Ages accepted are 15-21. There are only 25 positions available so sign your favorite young driver up as soon as registration opens! Keep an eye open for new updates on the website. WE NEED 15 VOLUNTEERS TO BE INSTRUCTORS AND MORE FOR THE HELPER STAFF! Every volunteer gets a really cool shirt for helping out! Every participant gets a FREE one year SCCA membership! The meeting was adjourned at 930pm. The next BOD meeting will be June 13, 630pm at Dooley O Tooles. Respectfully submitted by Tracy LeVeque, Secretary.

We have recently seen the first IndySCCA drag cross. Forty brave souls ventured out to battle head to head despite the cold and windy tundra at Grissom. Despite the cold, I would classify the day as a success. Special thanks go out to Raleigh Boreen for helping setup the courses and to Pauletta Dusterburg for saving the day by taking the reins in the bus and figuring out the timing and scoring end of things. Couldn t have done it without you! Through the day, we had several growing pains figuring out how it will all work out, but it proved to be very fun and looks like it will be something that can continue and serve our members. Keep an eye on the website for information on further drag cross events! Once again, we have put on an Autocross for One Lap of America. Car count was a little lower this year, but still a very fun day. Everything went smooth and the competitors and staff from One Lap were all impressed with our group. Having the local cub scout pack on hand with lunch was a nice addition, and will be a regular occurrence at our Grissom events. Thank you to all who helped make it a success! We also put on an autocross for the Appletree Auto VW Nationals at Lucas Oil Raceway. This was a last minute happening as the group that they had lined up backed out, and we came through for them. It was a very slow day as there was minimal promoting for the autocross, but it was a fun day, and we were able to generate some income for our Rally Cross program where the bulk of our volunteers came from. th On the future front, we will be running autocrosses for the Midwest Fiero club on June 27 at the nd th Speedrome and another for the Shelby Dodge club on June 22 in Connersville. On June 15 we will also be putting on a Street Survival School in Connersville. If anyone can help out with any of these, please contact me at chrisbrake@rocketmail.com. Otherwise on the activities front, I would like to hear from you. What do you like that we do, what areas are we lacking in? What types of activities would you attend? I would like to bring back club day out on a regular basis, and would like to organize outings that will cater to our member base. Please send any ideas or suggestions to chrisbrake@rocketmail.com.

6 The Car Club Challenge was a success with twenty - three cars from eleven clubs. All said that they enjoyed the event and hope that we will do it again next year. Some even asked about coming to our regular events. We were pleased that our Regional Executive Dave Dusterberg came to do the official trophy presentation. It meant a lot to the rally committee to see the enthusiastic support from the Region Board for this effort, and I am sure that this endorsement was apparent to the participants. The Challenge was particularly a battle between the BMW and Corvette clubs. BMW entered three teams, Circle City Corvettes entered three teams, and the Derby City Corvettes sent one team. The Circle City Corvettes Team # 2 won the Challenge with the Indy BMW Team # 2 in second place. We are planning the 2014 Challenge and are tentatively scheduled for the Saturday after. Easter Our next rally activity is a Social rally in conjunction with the Street Survival event and the Border Wars Solo in Connersville, IN on June 15. (See details below) Following that is the double National weekend in Bloomington. This is where the Region gets to showcase its abilities to the National audience. # Event Name Categories Date Rallymaster(s) V. S.O.S. (Safety Observation Skills) SRG 6/15 Wendy Harrison VI.
