This restored home contains cherished artifacts including furnishings original to the home and used by the Meeker family. During a guided tour of the museum, visitors learn about Meeker s life as an agricultural editor, his success establishing a Utopian temperance and agricultural community in the west, and the circumstances that led him to become an agent at the White River Ute Agency in northwestern Colorado. 1324 9th Avenue, Greeley, CO 80631 Hours: Open by appointment only. Louis Vasquez (the fort s namesake) was a trapper in the early 1880s who made his living bartering furs from the Cheyenne and Arapaho Indians in return for food and shot. A reconstructed fort stands almost exactly where the original was built. And now, you can tour the replica fort, as well as the museum and visitor center, also located on site. MISSILE SITE PARK The Missile Site Park is great opportunity to step back into the Cold War Era of national defense. The former nuclear warhead equipped Atlas E site was constructed in 1961. The host military base for the Atlas E program s command and control was located at Francis E. Warren Air Force Base in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Do something different! Take a tour of a Cold War Atlas E nuclear missile site. It is FREE. Tours take about 30-45 minutes and you ll experience history which most haven t. Hiking, camping, picnicking, horseback riding and stargazing are also popular activities. Pronghorn, mule deer, coyote,and swift fox are just a few of the species that make the prairie their home. Be sure to take in the majestic Buttes found on the grasslands. While developed facilities are limited on the grassland, recreation opportunities are not. The Pawnee National Grassland lies 355miles east of Fort Collins and 25 miles northeast of Greeley in Weld County. Contained within the 30 by 60 mile area are 193,060 acres managed by the Pawnee National Grassland. WILD ANIMAL SANCTUARY The Sanctuary's two primary missions involve rescuing and caring for animals and educating people about the Captive Wildlife Crisis. The Sanctuary is not a Zoo and offers a completely different experience. Our rescued animals live in large open habitats and are not forced to be front-andcenter just so people can see them easier. Our elevated walkway is more than 1.5 miles long and spans across numerous natural habitats, so there are plenty of opportunities for guests to see many of the rescued animals closer.
