SUTHERLAND AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY LIVESTOCK SECTION RULES 1. Only Registered Crofters can compete in the Crofters Section 2 Crofters may compete in both the Commercial and the Crofters Sections. However, the same animal CANNOT compete in both Sections. 3 Prize money in the cattle and horse sections will be 1st = 10, 2nd = 7, 3rd = 5. Sheep, Goat & Fleeces prizes will be 1st = 6, 2nd = 4, 3rd = 3. The show will award special prizes. 4 Entry Fees; Cattle = 3.50, Horses = 6, Sheep, Goats and Fleeces = 2.50, Poultry = 1, Eggs = 50p 5 Each farm or croft can enter as many animals as they wish. If no code or farm number is received then the exhibitor will automatically be entered in the Farmers Section. 6 All stock must be tagged according to current legislation. 7 Exhibitors or their representatives must be in attendance of their stock until judging is completed. The stewards will notify competitors when judging will start. The exhibitor must ensure the animal is in the judging ring on time. 8 All entries must be bona fide property and in the possession of the competitor at the time of the competition and for 2 months previous. 9 The decision of the judge in everything relating to judging is final. 10 The pairs of sheep in the Hill Farmers Section must not be shown in any other class. 11 Penning of the stock must be arranged according to the directions of stewards and all entries must be penned and vehicles removed to the designated parking area by 9:00am. Judging will commence at 9.30am. Stock must remain on view until after the livestock parade. 12 All placed winners in the cattle and horse section are expected to be part of the livestock parade otherwise prize money may be removed (exceptions may be made after discussion with the livestock convenor). 13 Children under the age of six are not allowed into the judging rings unless accompanied by an adult at all times. 14 All exhibits are at the exhibitor s own risk and exhibitors alone shall be liable for any damage by or to themselves, their helpers or stock during the whole time they are on the showground. Exhibitors are reminded to ensure that their exhibits are fully covered by their own insurance. 15 NO protest shall be received unless the protest is lodged in writing to the livestock convenor either on show day, where possible, or within one week of the date of the show. A deposit of 10 shall be lodged with each complaint. In the event of the protest being sustained, the deposit will be returned to the objector. 16 All protests shall be brought before the livestock committee as soon as practical after being lodged and the decision of the committee is final. 17 All entries in Calf Classes must have no broad teeth and must be under one year old. 18 All lowground N.C.C. sheep will be shown in the same class, and trophies will be awarded for the different sections i.e. Farmers Open, Farmers Confined and Crofters. 19 Classes 77, 78, 79 & 80 are for Hill Crofters NCC sheep taken straight from the field. 20 Any animal competing for the Show Championship in the main ring, must be haltered. 21 All bulls must be ringed or dualled. 22 Lambs entered in the Hoof & Hook competition will be judged on show day AND at Munro s Dingwall. Lambs in this competition may NOT be taken home. 23 All exhibitors must agree to follow the Animal Health and movement regulations. 24 Entries need to be placed before the 23rd June to be in the show catalogue. However, entries will be allowed until 14th July but will not be in show catalogue. 25 By completing the Livestock Entry Form, you agree to the above Rules of the Sutherland Agricultural Society.
