The network The IAKS a worldwide network Goals Members of the IAKS The IAKS is the International Association for Sports and Leisure Facilities. The IAKS and its members make up a global network for the design, construction, modernization and management of sports and leisure facilities. The goal of the IAKS is the creation of high-grade, functional and sustainable sports facilities worldwide. The emphasis here is on international exchange and the ongoing development of quality standards. The IAKS is the only organization recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) for issues of sports facility development. It cooperates with the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) and numerous other partners. The IAKS contributes to the economic and environmentally friendly realization of sports and leisure facility projects and thus highlights the right of citizens to demand-driven and functional sports facilities. The IAKS is: - independent and competent - objective - product-neutral. The IAKS has about 1,000 members in 110 countries worldwide, which spread across all five continents: - Starting with virtually all European countries, our network extends to Australia, New Zealand, Japan and China as well as to Russia, Namibia, Chile and the whole of North America. Our newsletter reports on current themes of the IAKS and its members. You can read all about our training seminars and other events in the fields of sport and architecture. Consultancy sb magazine Experts of the IAKS advise local au thorities, organizing committees, clients, designers, operators and users of sports and leisure facilities. Published in a print run of 4,000 copies, sb serves as a decision-making aid to designers and others active in all areas of sports and leisure facility development (local au thorities, architects, engineers, universities, associations, industrial companies etc.). The services include location analyses, feasibilities studies and development strategies from individual projects through to Olympic bids. Standards and guidelines The IAKS itself is actively involved in the development of standards and guidelines. As an IAKS member, you have access to the latest information on international standards and guidelines. Our magazine appears every two months and reports on current industry trends in international sports and leisure facility development. The latest technologies and product developments are also presented. IAKS members receive sb free of charge. Events IOC/IAKS Award and IPC/IAKS Distinction Congresses and trade fairs Seminars and events The IOC/IAKS AWARD and IPC/IAKS Distinction have been awarded for exemplarily well designed, functional and outstandingly accessible sports and leisure facilities since 1987. The organizers of the competition are the International Olympic Committee (IOC), Lausanne, the International Paralympic Committee (IPC), Bonn, and the IAKS, Cologne. In addition, the IOC, the IPC and the IAKS are giving the 2013 Architecture and Design Award for Students and Young Professionals on innovative designs and concepts for sports, leisure and recreational facilities. The presentation ceremony for the only architecture award of its kind worldwide takes place on the occasion of the International IAKS Congress in connection with the International Trade Fair for Amenity Areas, Sports and Pool Facilities (FSB) in Cologne. As an IAKS member, you have attractive opportunities for publicity. The world of sports and leisure facility development has been converging on Cologne every two years since 1969: At the international IAKS Congress, global infrastructural trends, technical topics and best practices are presented and discussed. Concurrently, Koelnmesse and the IAKS stage the trade fair FSB International Trade Fair for Amenity Areas, Sports and Pool Facilities, the world s biggest showcase for the industry s products and services. The fair duo FSB and aquanale will take place from 27 30 October 2015 in Cologne, across an exhibition area of around 80,000 sqm in Halls 6, 7, 9 and 10.
