THE REASON WE RACE ISN T SO MUCH TO BEAT EACH OTHER... BUT TO BE WITH EACH OTHER CHRISTOPHER MCDOUGALL BORN TO RUN
Dear Patron, I thank you again for your continued patronage of the Bengaluru Midnight Marathon (BMM www.midnightmarathon.in), the flagship fund raising activity for Rotary Bangalore IT Corridor (RBITC www.rbitc.org). Just like the previous five years, the 6th Edition of BMM (which took place on 15th December, 2012) was a grand success. Some facts to capture the spirit of the evening: 25 Corporate & Women s Relay Teams, 21 Community Relay Teams, 4,500 Fun Runners, 3,500 10K Runners, 800 Half Marathon Runners, 200 Marathon Runners. Together we have run (excluding the running around of the organizers!) a little over two times the circumference of the earth on that night. Apart from our on-going activities of blood donation, tree plantation, support for school infrastructure and faculty, eye care, surgical interventions to correct debilitating infirmities, community engagement & improvement, scholarships for meritorious students etc., this year the club has focused on four projects with significant social impacts. We are calling them as Signature Projects. These projects need to be transformational in nature, and bring about tangible changes in the communities we live in. These projects are mainly: Adoption of a Government School, Integrated Village Development, Lighting for Literacy (LFL, Potable Water Project for a Village) and Village Medical Camp. We would once again like to take this opportunity to thank each one of you for your substantial contribution toward our ambitious transformational activities in the communities around us.
