1. Competitions There are currently 5 Badminton Wales (BW) Welsh Satellite Series events: (Newport, YC Sports, Jim Wiseman, Hereford, NEWBA). 2. Events Tournaments must include singles, doubles and mixed. 3. Eligibility All players are welcome to compete, with the exception of any player who has represented their country at senior international level in the 3 years prior to the start of the season. Competitors must be affiliated to BW, either through their Club, individually or to an associated body (e.g. Badminton England). Their affiliation number must be given on their entry form. If you are unsure of your affiliation number, please check with your club, Badminton Wales or associated body. Unaffiliated players will be required to affiliate to BW at the time of entry. Affiliation costs 12.00 for seniors and 6.00 for juniors, to cover membership and insurance for the season. This must be paid to BW and forwarded along with their membership application form which can be found at www.badminton.wales/membership 4. Entries, Forms and Fees Tournament Organisers are responsible for the draw and event seeding. Previous rankings can be obtained from the BW web site. If you require assistance with the draw and/or seeding please contact the BW Events Officer. The closing date for entries will be 2 weeks before the tournament, unless otherwise stated by the Tournament Organiser. Entries must be submitted on the appropriate entry form together with the correct fee. Entry for doubles events will only be accepted on receipt of separate entries from both players. Once an entry has been submitted and accepted by the tournament organiser, the entrant is liable for the entry fee (this includes via email). Late entries will only be accepted at the organiser s discretion and if numbers permit. Late entries will be subject to an additional fee of 5. At the discretion of the Tournament Organiser failure to pay the entry fee before start of play may result in an additional 5 fee unless otherwise agreed by the Tournament Organiser. In the event of withdrawals, Tournament Organisers must be notified at least 24hours in advance of the start of play. At the discretion of the Tournament Organiser failure to notify the Tournament Organiser of withdrawal resulting in a No Show may incur an additional 10 fee on top of the original entry fee. Players requiring confirmation of entry should state so on the entry form. If confirmation by post is required a stamped addressed envelope should be enclosed with the entry form. An entry form will be produced by the tournament organiser and displayed on the BW website a minimum of 8 weeks prior to the competition taking place. Entry fees will be payable as per the entry form. 1

Refunds will not be provided unless there are exceptional circumstances (e.g. partner required or no partner found, cancellation of tournament). 5. Competition Format (See full table page 5-6) The first round of each event will be played on a group basis. Groups will be a minimum of 3 where possible. Winner and runner up of the groups will go through to the knockout stage. If the entry level for an event is sufficient for only one group, rankings will be decided by the results of group games as detailed below. There will be no final play off. Should a player withdraw during the group stages they will assume last position in the group. Position in groups will be established by: The number of matches won If two players/pairs have won the same number of matches, the winner of the match between them will be ranked higher. If three or more players/pairs have won the same number of matches, ranking will be established by the difference between total games won and total games lost, with greater positive difference ranked higher. If this still leaves two players/pairs equal, the winner of the match between them will be ranked higher. If three or more players/pairs have won the same number of matches and are equal in the difference between total games won and total games lost, ranking will be established by the difference between total points won and total points lost, with greater positive difference ranked higher. If this still leaves two players/pairs equal, the winner of the match between them will be ranked higher. If three or more players/pairs are still equal, then ranking will be established by drawing lots. If illness, injury or other unavoidable hindrance prevents a player/pair completing all the pool matches, all the results of that player/pair will be deleted. Retiring during a match will be considered as not completing all pool matches. A player/pair is entitled to prizes/points according to results actually obtained before any withdrawal due to injury. If a player/pair withdraws for any reason prior to competing in an event the player/pair will not receive any ranking points and will not count towards qualification purposes. 6. Scoring All group matches will be the best of 3 games to 15 rally points without extended play. All elimination round matches will be the best of 3 games to 15 rally points with extended to 21 points. Tournament Organisers have the discretion to amend this scoring system if there are timing problems. 7. Coaching Coaching is allowed only at designated intervals. 2

8. Shuttles Feathered shuttles will be used, preferably circuit approved Yonex AS30. 9. Trophies Trophies or Medals will be awarded to winners and runners up.
