RUBBER GAME STREAK AT FIVE--Tonight is Kansas City s 17th rubber game of the year and the Royals are riding a five-game series deciding winning streak, the most recent the 10-4 triumph in Boston on Sunday night...all told, Kansas City is 9-7 in rubber games this year, including a 5-2 mark here and 4-5 ledger on the road, winning the last three road tries. AUGUST FINALE--Kansas City s brightest month of the 2016 season comes to an end tonight, with the Royals bringing a 20-8 mark into the August finale...this marks the most wins in August since KC won 21 times in 1989...despite last night s loss, since August 6, the Royals have shaved 6 1/2 games off its Wild Card deficit and 4 1/2 games off the A.L. Central deficit, entering tonight three and 6 1/2 out, respectively...the Royals were a season-high seven games below the.500 mark at 51-58 entering August 6, but with wins in eight of the last 11 games and 18 of 23, the club is back to six over break-even...a win tonight against the Yankees will give the Royals an eight-series winning streak, which would be the longest since winning eight in a row from July 21-August 18, 2014...of Kansas City s 30 games remaining, 12 are against clubs currently ahead of the Royals in the Wild Card chase, including nine of the final 12 games of the season. ROSTER MOVE--The Royals today placed right-handed reliever Chien-Ming Wang on the 15-day disabled list with right biceps tendinitis and recalled lefthanded reliever Scott Alexander from Omaha (AAA)...Wang has gone 6-0 in 38 relief appearances this year...the 27-year old Alexander was 2-0 with a save and 3.00 ERA in 22 appearances for the Storm Chasers this year...this will be his second stint with the big league club this year, appearing in nine games from May 12-June 5 with a 4.85 ERA.
