BREED AWARDS To be eligible for breed awards, you must show absolute proof of registration (freeze brands and tattoos are acceptable). Mustangs will be treated as a breed, but you must show some form of authenticity. A breed is eligible for an award when there are four or more entries in the breed. Any breed that has less than four entries will be included in the Best of the Rest division. There will also be grade horse and grade pony divisions (a pony is 58 tall at the withers or less). First place prize in each breed division; ribbons first through fifth place. RIDE DESCRIPTION 1. There is open field parking around the pavilion. Water is available for horses. Food is available for purchase. If you would like other options, you are welcome to bring a bagged lunch. 2. Registration begins at 9:00 AM at the Maintenance Barn of Deer Lakes Park (entrance is off of Baileys Run Road) 3. Estimated ride distance is 5 miles or more, or about 2 2.5 hours at a walk without the obstacle stops. 4. There is no road riding. Wooded trails and fields with one road crossing. 5. Terrain is mixed with some hilly areas. Horses in moderate condition or above should not have difficulty. 6. The theme for this ride is Monster Mash! All obstacles will be in keeping with that theme. 7. There will be 10 obstacles that are in keeping with the theme of the ride. Some obstacles will be natural, some will have working situations, and all are fun and creative. 8. CAUTION: You will encounter hikers, cyclists, and/or dogs on the trails. These are NOT part of the obstacles. We must share the trails and facilities of Deer Lakes Park. PLEASE BE COURTEOUS! 9. YOU MAY CALL DEANN OR NICOLE AFTER 6:45 AM ON THE DAY OF THE RIDE FOR INFORMATION. RULES 1. Each horse and rider must register as a team. If you pre-register, switching on the day of ride requires a $5.00 re-entry fee. 2. Every rider must sign a waiver form. Peanuts, Peewees, and Juniors MUST have a parent signature. 3. To qualify for breed awards, registration papers, tattoos, or freeze brand must be seen. 4. ALL dogs must be kept on a leash and away from food areas. 5. NO RUNNING OR RACING IN THE PARK!!!! 6. The use of alcoholic beverages or controlled substances by competitors is prohibited. 7. Stonybrook Saddle Club, Inc. has the right to refuse to allow any horse to participate due to illness, injury, unsoundness, or uncontrollability. 8. Horses will be dispatched at 10 15 minute intervals. Once you start, you do not have to stay in a group. Spread out for comfort. This will prevent the snowball effect at obstacles. 9. The last departure will be at 12:30 PM. All horses must be on the trail by that time. 10. SAFE RIDING PRACTICES ARE REQUIRED a. All riders must use saddles. No bareback riding or bareback pads are permitted. b. If you are riding bridleless, you must have the bridle with you at all times. Judges and/or ride officials may require you to use a bridle at any time. c. All riders must wear long pants.

d. Peanut, Peewee, and Junior riders under 18 years of age MUST wear helmets, but use of helmets by all riders is strongly advised and encouraged. e. Peanut, pee wee and junior riders must be accompanied by an adult. 11. Excessive speed will be penalized. Take your time on the trails. Expect to take at least two hours to complete the course. 12. Judges will take your safety habits into consideration (loose saddles, dangling straps, etc.). There may be a dismount/remount situation. 13. You may talk or sing to your horse as a working partner. Coaxing/reprimanding will be penalized. 14. ALL PARTICIPANTS ARE EXPECTED TO BEHAVE IN A SPORTSMANSHIP LIKE MANNER. Actions meant to demean other riders, judges, or ride officials will not be tolerated. Such actions will be penalized and could result in disqualification without a refund. 15. Any rider caught removing or changing trail markers will be disqualified. 16. No more than three (3) attempts at any obstacle may be made. A partial score will be given if you dismount and lead your horse through an obstacle. 17. NO ponying a horse through an obstacle. 18. NO DOUBLE RIDING. 19. Riders must display their entry numbers to ALL judges. 20. RIDERS INTENTIONALLY STRAYING OFF MARKED TRAILS WILL BE DISQUALIFIED. We only have permission to use certain areas of the park. Riding in prohibited areas, especially picnic groves and open grass areas, could cause the park to be closed to all horses. å 21. ALL JUDGES DECISIONS ARE FINAL. 22. Crops and/or spurs are allowed. HOWEVER, judges shall not score horses requiring them higher than 9 for each obstacle. 23. The same rider must ride the horse for each obstacle. The scores will be posted online after the ride. However, if you would like a copy of the scores mailed to you, please bring a self-addressed stamped envelope to the ride. If you must leave the ride early, you are responsible for collecting any awards you may win. Please make arrangements with another rider to take them for you. STONYBROOK SADDLE CLUB, INC. WILL NOT BE HOLDING ON TO OR MAILING AWARDS TO RIDERS ABSENT FOR THE CEREMONY. DIRECTIONS TO DEER LAKES PARK From PA Turnpike Take the Exit 48 (Allegheny Valley Exit). Take the Cheswick/Springdale/New Kensington ramp onto Freeport Road. At the first traffic light, turn left onto Pearl Avenue. Follow Pearl Avenue which becomes Russelton Road for about 5.5 miles to a stop sign. Just AFTER the stop sign, turn right at the First Commonwealth Bank. Go under the underpass and PASS THE MAIN ENTRANCE to Deer Lakes Park. Continue on this road, and at the 3-way intersection stay straight/bear left onto Baileys Run Road. Entrance to the Maintenance Barn will be on your left. From 28 North Take the Cheswick/Springdale exit. Turn Right to stop sign. Turn right onto Russelton Road. Follow directions above.

From 28 South Take the Cheswick/Springdale exit. Turn Right to stop sign. Turn right onto Russelton Road. Follow directions above. From Route 8 From Route 8, take Route 910 east (intersection is in Gibsonia). Follow 910 nine miles to the light at Saxonburg Boulevard*. Turn left. Go to Russelton/Dorseyville Road. Turn right. Go through the first stop sign and you will come to a short, windy downhill with a stop sign at the bottom of Russelton Road. Turn left onto Russelton Road and follow the above directions. *There may be a detour due to construction on 910. Please check the route and plan ahead of time. Stonybrook Saddle Club, Inc.
