GASSER CIRCUS RULES 2015 The rules detailed below, form the basis and reason why the Gasser Circus was created as it is our belief and desire to ensure that all the cars competing directly resemble as closely as is reasonably possible the Gas class cars of the mid 60's preserving and promoting the "Gasser Wars". This was not only a period of great competition and development, but when the cars were capable of double duty, equally at home on the drag strip or on display in the show hall. Our focus is on attaining the same level of double duty, with cars that represent that period, whilst maintaining safety, ensuring we put on a good show and above all, have fun whilst racing. The Gasser Circus is a drivers club and the Gasser Circus Showdown is a race series for likeminded individuals who share a passion for the Gasser s, the Gasser Wars and want to promote Gasser racing in the modern era including eligible AWB. Competitive spirit is welcome, fortunately bad attitudes are not. These rules are overseen by the Circus Ringmasters (CR) which are 5 current Gasser Circus members. The rules will be reviewed and amended each year and all participants will be required to re-apply to race with the Gasser Circus at the start of the year. Changes to the rules will be drawn to the attention of drivers, and it is the driver s responsibility to ensure they understand and comply with the rules as they evolve to represent the aims of the Gasser Circus'. SAFETY (Rule) All vehicles will be required to meet the safety criteria of the sanctioning body or host track affiliation. However, it is advised that all Gasser s are fitted with a harness and a either a roll hoop or roll cage and drivers wear protective clothing. Track or sanctioning body technical inspectors have the final word. Two functioning headlights are required. Permanently mounted in the factory style and location. May operate on only low beams, or high beams, or both. They must be controlled from the interior of the car. At least one working red rear taillight. ELECTRONICS (Rule) Absolutely NO electronic engine, transmission, or power train controls are permitted in competition. This includes but not limited to: Delay boxes Throttle Stops Crossover boxes Data recorders/monitors/playback systems Traction control/monitors/regulators

Infrared starting line systems Air Shifters Exceptions to the rule are: Line locks Trans brakes Rev limiter/playback tachometers/ignition boxes Any Gasser found to be using a laptop or any other method of computer to either set up or control the cars performance either in the pits or on the track will be immediately disqualified from that event. All decisions made by the Circus Ringmasters relating to safety and appearance are final. BODY TYPES As a guide, American bodied cars must be based on pre 1968 or pre 1960 British full bodied cars Ford Pop, Ford Prefect (sit up & beg) Austin Dorset / Devon (pre 1950 for Morris). Fiberglass reproduction of complete bodies as well as components are permitted. (no roadsters) All bodies must retain the appearance of the original. This is a guide the final decision rests with the Ringmasters. So if you are thinking of building a car, please contact the Ringmasters for guidance. NO OPEN OR ROADSTER TYPE VEHICLES. Enclosed cabin, door cars with a permanently attached roof ONLY No body enhancements or aerodynamic improvements are permitted This will include but not limited to: Raised quarter panels or rear wings Pro stock or snorkel type hood scoops Wings or airfoil spoilers If in doubt about permitted body types, contact the Ringmasters via Gassercircus@hotmail.com PAINTWORK (Rule) Period type/correct paint schemes are required No present day graphics or schemes are permitted. Primer is OK - any colour or tinting for the first 12 months of competing. Following this period any Gasser staying in primer will need to be sign written. Any lettering - driver identification, sponsorship, and nicknames must be in good taste - permanent paint or vinyl lettering is acceptable.

All cars in competition should be permanently lettered with the cars name and a minimum of the car number and class designation (AA/GS, A/G, B/G etc.) All cars must look period correct compared to the actual cars of the 60s in America. SUSPENSION (Rule) Front suspension - straight or dropped axle front ends required, or modified original manufacturers suspension of the 50 s & '60's a must. Rear suspension - parallel leaf springs, transverse leaf springs, coil overs and ladder bars are acceptable. No full tube/round tube chassis vehicles allowed WHEELS (Rule) Mag wheels such as Halibrand, Cragar, Ansen, American Racing, steel or any other wheels that closely resemble wheels of the mid 60s are required. Absolutely no late generation billet or spun aluminium wheels i.e. Centerlines, Welds etc to be used. REAR TYRES The ideal situation would be no tyre wider than 10.5 as this was the maximum size available during the mid-60s, please bare this in mind when either determining or buying your next set of slicks Rule - Slicks and treaded tyres can be used, but will be restricted to a maximum tyre width of 12 ½. (This will reduce to 12 in 2016) The manufacturer s size on the side wall will be used as the determining factor. Front Tyres should be within or in line with the outer body line. It is preferred that rear tyres are within the body line, if not a maximum of 4 inches of slick tread area showing outside the body line is acceptable. POWER TRAIN (Rule) This is a "GAS" class, Race Gasoline leaded or unleaded is acceptable, but ABSOLUTELY NO ALCOHOL, NITROMETHANE, or other exotic type fuels are permitted. NITROUS OXIDE IS NOT ALLOWED. Any car fitted with a NOS bottle, is requested to remove it during racing.

Engines are permitted, any OEM or aftermarket iron or aluminium cylinder head. All cars must run with open headers. No flowmaster or other muffler types allowed. Superchargers are restricted to original Roots type only No screw, Whipple or centrifugal type. No turbochargers of any kind are permitted. Any OEM or aftermarket iron or aluminium intake is permitted. Carburettor or mechanical fuel injection may be used for fuel delivery alone or with a supercharger. NO electronic Fuel Injection is permitted. TRANSMISSION (Rule) Any transmission may be used to include full automatic, stick shift or manual, clutch flite or hydromatic. IGNITION (Rule) Any ignition system is allowed. Cars will have to be self-starting and will be capable of driving under their own power from the pits to the staging lanes. After the pass down the track, the car must drive under its own power down the return road to return to the pit area. All cars occasionally have problems; therefore, each car will be allowed one event where it will be possible to use a battery pack, to start the car. However, there will be a restricted area at each track where the battery pack cannot be used. At Santa Pod, this restricted area begins at the pedestrian crossing. Therefore, the car will have to be started before going over the crossing. At Shakespeare County Raceway, the restricted area will be denoted by the Hash markings in front of the emergency vehicles exit point in the fire up road. Therefore, the car will need to be started before going past this point. If any driver resorts to using a battery pack, the issues requiring its use, must be resolved by the next event. CAUTION (Rule) Any Gasser found to be non-compliant with the rules, can if the infringement is deemed minor by the Circus Ringmasters, continue to race, but under Caution for that event. Any points achieved and race results will remain provisional, until the next event. This allows time for the minor infraction to be corrected. To ensure the provisional result becomes substantive, the car must attend the next round of the Gasser Circus Showdown, with the problem rectified. Failure to attend the next event will result in the withdrawal of the points and nullify the cars event position and any awarded trophies. Any car attending with an unresolved Caution will not be allowed to compete.

DISPUTES Any variations to the above rules must be approved by the Circus Ringmasters. All decisions made by them are final. Points structure Points Events - 1 point for attending an event, 1 point for each round completed at that event 1 st Place 10 points 2 nd Place - 8 points 3 rd Place - 6 points 4 th Place 4 points 5 th Place 3 points 6 th Place 2 points 7 th Place 1 point Points are awarded per vehicle (ie. per Gasser Circus number). Only Gasser Circus members will be permitted to compete at any official Gasser Circus Points Series event. All points awarded will be given to the race car, not the driver. THERE IS NO "BREAK RULE". THAT IS, IF A WINNING CAR CANNOT MAKE THE NEXT ROUND, THE LOSER WILL NOT ADVANCE TO TAKE THEIR PLACE. If You RED light You will score points for that round and you can still carry on participating in the event, at the discretion of the event promoter and score points for other rounds, but you will lose your time for that round and not be eligible to qualify for 1st 3rd place trophies. What if the meeting is rained off? In the event of a total rain-off, ie. no rounds are completed; everyone who has turned up will get points for attending. If the rain-off is called during a round, then all points calculations will be based on the number of rounds that have been completed by all of the participating Gasser Circus members. Eligibility for end-of-season trophies A car must have completed at least 4 events under the Gasser Circus banner to be eligible.

Gasser Circus E.T. Racing 2015 In 2015 the Gasser Circus will continue E.T. Drag Racing. In this form, two cars of varying performance potentials can race on a potentially even basis. The anticipated elapse times for each car are compared, and the slower car receives a head start equal to the difference of the two. With this system, virtually any two cars can be paired in a competitive drag race. For example: Gasser A has been timed at 12.58, 12.54 and 12.56 seconds on the quarter mile, and the driver feels that a dial in of 12.55 is appropriate. Meanwhile, the driver of Gasser B has recorded elapsed times of 11.07, 11.02 and 11.06 on the same track and has opted for a dial-in of 11.05. Accordingly, Gasser A will get a 1.5 second head start against Gasser B when the Christmas tree counts down to each Gasser s starting green light. If both Gasser s cover the quartermile in exactly the predetermined elapsed time, the win will go to the driver who has the quickest reaction time. This makes starting line reactions extremely important. CUT OFF (Rule) The Gasser Circus elapsed time cut off in 2015 will be 13.50 seconds. Any Gasser that does not achieve this in qualification will not be included in the Eliminations. Break-Out" and/or "Red Light"? Should a Gasser go quicker than his or her predetermined dial-in, it is a breakout and grounds for disqualification when competing in eliminations. If both Gassers make runs under their dial-ins, the win goes to the racer who breaks out the least. Red light means immediate disqualification. Disqualifications are based on a First or Worst basis. For example crossing the centre line is considered worse than a red light. Since we cannot possibly cover all situations that may arise during eliminations, it will be for Ringmasters to make the judgement on dispute calls. If the dispute involves any Ringmaster the decision process will not involve them. Dial-In (Rule) All dial-ins must be posted on the left side of the Gasser. Poorly written dial-ins make it very difficult to be entered into the computer and may be incorrectly interpreted. It is the driver s responsibility to make sure that their dial-in is legible. The only time a dial-in can be

changed is in the event of downtime. Once you pre-stage, you have accepted the dial-in as posted on the boards, for both yourself and your competitor. The tower will make every effort to enter the correct dial-in, however, it is the driver s responsibility to check the dialin before staging their Gasser. If a dial-in is wrong DO NOT STAGE!! There will be no re-runs as a result of a wrong or missing dial-in regardless. It is the driver s responsibility to check the dial-in before staging their Gasser The Gasser Circus Showdown will be contested at 5 racing events in 2015. Each of these rounds count towards the Gasser Championship, with points being awarded each weekend. May 23 rd 25 th Shakespeare County Raceway Gary s Picnic/Yanks Weekend June 19 th 21 st Shakespeare County Raceway Nostalgia Nationals July 10 th - 12 th Santa Pod Dragstalgia July 24 th 26 th Santa Pod Mopar Nationals Sept 11 th 13 th Shakespeare County Raceway Hot Rod Drags (Guide) Make yourself known to one of the Gasser Circus Ringmasters. Be ready to assemble and run in each round at the required times given at each event. A siren will sound twice, this means you have 10 minutes to be ready, this will be followed by one long sounding of the siren. When you hear that fire up and head for the staging lanes, where you will be paired by the track officials or by the Gasser Circus Race Co-ordinator. After each round, you or your pit crew must provide the Race Co-ordinator with your E.T. ticket. This is your responsibility, or penalties, such as a loss of round points may be incurred. LANE CHOICE Lane choice is by mutual agreement; if disputed, then then closest to their Dial-in makes the choice, if still unresolved then the fastest car takes lane choice. PIT AREA (Guide) Although not a rule, we request that all of the competing cars are parked together in the pits. We have negotiated with the track promoters for allocated Pit areas and we need to use them. This ensures there are many hands to help out if any fellow driver needs it and more importantly ensures that all Gasser s know when each round of competition is called.

In addition to this it also creates great photo opportunities for any visitors to the pits which assist with promoting the Gasser Circus, to aid this even more would be at the conclusion of the days racing that all Gassers are parked with their front ends facing into the pit road. Sponsors Rule If sponsors supply stickers for competing cars, you will only be eligible for any prize or trophy they supply if your Gasser is displaying these during qualifying and elliminations.
