NewsNotes St. Mary s Elementary School 2/03/2016 Ja- Upcoming Events: Catholic Schools Week Adventures - Thank you to all teachers and staff who made this week a huge success! The students started off the week with pajama day, watched a movie and had popcorn. Tuesday, was crazy hat day and our first spelling bee which the students loved, lots of cheers from the crowd, (winners are 1st place Charlotte Vieresen, 2nd place Lauren Murphy, tied for 3rd is Gabriella Petroski & Joseph Kuhn). Wednesday was class color day. Each grade wore a color to get ready for the relay race grades Pre-K-2nd and Pep Rally for grades 3-8th. We first enjoyed Nickel City Reptile for the younger grades and Middle School took a trip to Lancaster Lanes to enjoy bowling with neon flashing lights. Needless to say, they all enjoyed their adventures. The relay races were awesome. All the students were cheering for one another and were so very excited. It was so loud in our PC gym, I think Father Paul could hear them at the rectory. The winning teams were Miss Haskill's Pre-K class, 1st grade won over Kindergarten and Miss Trometer's class won over Mrs. Heater's class. The students in grades 3-8th had a Pep Rally in the gym. Wow, you talk about loud! They were so loud at times cheering their classmates on. It started with musical chairs which 6th grade won, then they had a mummy wrap, which 7th grade won and finally they had a cheese ball toss and well it was totally cool. There was a student from each grade that put on a plastic bag over their clothes and a shower cap on with safety goggles too. Then, 3 students took shaving cream and sprayed it all over their head and piled it real high. After that, there were 3 more students from each grade that each had a large cup FULL of cheese balls. They then started throwing the cheese balls and whoever had the most attached to the students head won! Congratulations, the winners were 7th grade! The most spirited was our 4th graders, Great Job everyone! Thursday you could wear your favorite sports apparel day. On this day, the students all got to enjoy a full day with the Buffalo Bandits in all the gym classes. Friday was dress up day and grades Pre-K-5th grade played BINGO and the middle school students had a dance. To end our terrific week, we had a Spirit Game on Saturday, 7th grade boys/girls against 8th grade boys/girls (the bragging rights go to...8th GRADE way to go!) and then who couldn't resist the Ice Cream social following the 4:30 Catholic Schools Mass. What a busy week, can't wait till next year! 2/15-2/19 No School Mid Winter Break 2/22 School Resumes 2/26 7th & 8th Grade Dance 7:00pm - 9:00pm 3/4 No School Staff Professional Development Day 3/5 Honor Band Concert 3/7 Dress Down Day 3/15 Gr. 3-5 Passover Sedar 3/16 St. Joseph s Table 3/21-3/28 No School Spring Break 3/29 School Resumes
