Rules 2018

Eligibility All dogs competing must be 18 months of age for jumping and agility classes and a minimum of 16 months for steeplechase. All dogs must be fit and healthy to compete. Dogs must only wear a flat collar/s; identification tags must also be flat with nothing else allowed on the collar. Dew claw protectors are permitted when required. Dual Handling Any dog can be handled by more than one handler for the 4 disciplines at the fun shows with a maximum of 4 runs per dog for that show. This still allows the dog to be placed in Agility, Jumping and combined Steeplechase. However, dual handled dogs will not be eligible for places or qualify for the end of year finals. Measuring Dogs who are measured at KC and UKA must compete at those given heights. Dogs who are measured at different heights at KC and UKA may choose which height they wish to compete per show. (If you qualify for the finals at your KC height you cannot then qualify at your UKA height and vice versa. Although you would be allowed to compete for placings in the 4 disciplines). Dogs who are not measured into a given height at UKA or KC from January 1 st will be measured at our events, this is not an official measure and only used at our shows until you have a measure at a KC or UKA event. Once your dog has been measured at either a UKA or KC event this will override our measurement. However, if you have qualified for the finals prior to an official measure this will stand but you must then compete at your official height for the rest of the shows going forward. If you then qualify for the finals at your official height you will automatically be entered into the final for that height. You will then be removed from the unofficial height final. If this happens the dog who was placed 2 nd will automatically qualify for the finals. (see qualification 2 nd time) For 2018 and for the first time all four heights will qualify for the finals.

Dogs Heights Small or Toy 350 Medium or Midi 430 Standard 500 Large or Maxi 500+ 2018 If a dog is measured into Large/Maxi we will allow you to compete at Standard as we did in 2017. However, if you qualify for the finals you cannot qualify again at the different height. UKA promotion and KC promotions. You must inform us of any promotion from either KC or UKA that would take you to the next level of competition. There will be a 30-day allowance from the promotion date. Competing out of height Handlers may choose to compete out of height in any option in any of the competitions. However, this will be for clear rounds only. Any clear rounds will still count in the team event.

Competing Grades There will be 2 different competition groups as of 2018 to make the competition easier to book. 1. Grade 1 & 2 KC Beginner/Novice UKA performance You may enter either, 1 run agility, Jumping, Steeplechase 1 and Steeplechase 2 (Active Finals Qualifier only) 2 runs Steeplechase 1 & 2 runs Steeplechase 2 (For steeplechase only competition) If you are senior Steeplechase you cannot enter the Steeplechase only competition. If you are champ Steeplechase you cannot enter G1 & 2 KC Beginner/Novice UKA Show. or 2. Grade 3 to 5 KC Senior/Champ UKA performance You may enter either, 1 run agility, Jumping, Steeplechase 1 and Steeplechase 2 (This event is for the overall placing per height) or 2 runs Steeplechase 1 and Steeplechase 2 (Clear rounds only) or Jumping and agility only (Clear rounds only)

NFC Any dog in any competition will be allowed to run NFC. The time set for this will be 60 seconds per course. It is permissible for any handler to take into the ring i) other handlers. ii) Training equipment. If using food treats this must be done stationary and at no time placed on the ground. Manners Minders are acceptable for NFC only.

General Rules and scoring Treating within the course You are permitted to use both toys and edible (non-crumbly) treats during your runs. All edible treats must be given stationary and at no time placed on the ground. Treats must be carried in a zipped pocket or pouch. Any toys used must not emit any noise such as squeakers or animal noises. No treat either edible or a toy can be thrown over or in any obstacle at any time. No toy can be carried in the dog s mouth as this could possibly cause a choking incident. First obstacle The course has not started until the first obstacle has been taken and the timing begins. Once the first obstacle has been taken the course will be deemed as live. If the first pole is taken in the wrong direction this will be an E see below. Refusals As of 2018 refusals will not be marked this will just be deemed as time wasting (See timing) Faults 5f will be given for the following reasons Pole knocked Missed down contact or leaving the see saw before it touches the ground. Coming out of the weaves (this can be only faulted once) See timing. Eliminations 50F for the first E and 5 from thereafter. If you are E d you must restart the course from the point of the E. Your dog will incur no more faults until you have restarted where marking will begin again. Elimination will be given for the following reasons Wrong Course Handling to promote the dog to a better position Handling the equipment Dog runs out of control from the course

Did Not Finish DNF (did not finish) is given if any obstacle was missed or in the case of weaves not completed correctly before moving onto the next obstacle. An E will be given for taking the wrong course, you will be then allowed 2 obstacles after the error to correct the mistake to avoid the DNF. Contact equipment DNF Although there are no refusals a dog must attempt all the contact equipment and pass what would be the refusal marks before coming off. A Frame = any paw touching the down ramp Dog Walk = any paw touching the down plank See Saw = any paw going over the centre tipping point. If any dog dismounts any of the above equipment before these points it must be attempted again. Once the dog has passed the refusal mark (therefore avoiding the DNF) it will then be able to continue. If a dog misses the down contact this will be judged as a missed contact and gain 5F. Time & DNF Time Rules and Penalties From 2018 all courses will be measured using KC rules. Course time = The course is measured centre to centre of each obstacle. The distance is then converted into mps (meter per second) giving a measured time. Allowed course time = measured time + ½ that time again A clear round will be given if within the course time. E.g. (stuck in weaves for example) Course time 60 seconds, time allowed up to 90 seconds if you are still on the course after this time a DNF will be recorded at 1000F faults. If you have any DNFs at the end of the 4 runs you will not qualify for the finals on that day. Other DNF Dog fouls in courses and will be asked to leave Harsh handling Dropping food treats anywhere on the course.

Fun Show Placings G1 G2 Beginner/Novice Heights Small/Toy, Medium/Midi, Standard, Large/Maxi The course time plus any faults occurring will be added together to give you a total time for that discipline. Prizes will be awarded for the following: 1. Agility 1 st, 2 nd and 3 rd per height 2. Jumping 1 st, 2 nd and 3 rd per height 3. Steeplechase 1&2 combined 1 st, 2 nd and 3 rd per height 4. Overall height winners in combined disciplines 1 st and 2 nd per height First place in all heights will automatically qualify for the finals. Fun Show Placing G3 to G5 Senior Champ Heights Small/Toy, Medium/Midi, Standard, Large/Maxi The course time plus any faults occurring will be added together to give you a total time for that discipline. Prizes will be awarded for the following: 1 st and 2 nd place will be awarded per height for the combined discipline option. Agility & Jumping Steeplechase 1 and Steeplechase 2,

Qualification to the end of year Finals G1 G2 Beginner/Novice Those in first place for overall height winners in combined disciplines will qualify automatically for the finals. If the dog has already qualified for the finals in 1 st place the dog in 2 nd place will automatically qualify up to the dog in 3 rd place at the same show. After which this will become a wild card placing, creating another wild card for that height. Wild Cards G1 G2 Beginner/Novice There will be 2 additional places at the end of year finals. These will be known at the wild card entries. These places will be awarded to the 2 handlers per height with the most points accumulated throughout the fun shows over the year. Agility = 4 points, Jumping = 3 points and Steeplechase = 2 points. If there is a tie, Agility points will score first, Jumping 2 nd Steeplechase 3 rd. If still deadlocked clear rounds over the entire 8 shows will count. Dogs Grades All handlers must compete at their dog s current grade. If a G1 G2 beginner/novice handler qualifies for the finals and then gains promotion they are still permitted to qualify for the final.

The Finals G1 G2 Beginner/Novice The finals will be held 21 st October 2018 at the RDA Henbury Bristol. There will be no cost incurred to anyone qualifying for the finals, this is a totally free show. The finalists will be the winners per height category from all 8 shows in 2018 with 2 others per height also qualifying (wild cards). For 2018 the qualifying heights will be: Small/Toy, Medium/Midi, Standard and Large/Maxi This will mean a total of 40 spaces, 10 in each height group competing in agility, jumping and 2 steeplechase finals. The format and scoring will be the same, 1 run agility, 1 run jumping and 1 run on both Steeplechase 1 and 2 combined. General rules handler and dog: Handler or Dog promoted in UKA or KC above the permitted level of the qualifier later in the year? This is totally fine you qualified at the time under our rules. Handler or Dog found to be higher than the competition rules at the time of qualifying? You will be eliminated from the finals and the next dog from the event you qualified will be the replacement. (see 2 nd qualification rule) Can I swap the handler of my dog in the final? No, the handler and dog team who qualified must be those who run in the final. I have a dog who jumps at the lower height at your shows do they qualify? No, dogs who compete at the fun show at the lower height except Maxi to Standard will not qualify for the final. You can only qualify once. Prizes: Every class will be placed to 5 th, all 5 will receive a rosette in each class and the top 3 for every class will receive a cash prize. The overall top three for the whole show will receive trophies and cash prizes. The table below shows the cash prizes per height per class. The top prize if all 1sts will be up to 155.00, 2 nd will be 85.00 and all 3rds will 45.00. The cash prizes are generated through all our fun shows and the below is worked out around last year s figures. We are hoping this will not change if the numbers decline in 2018 this will change the prize pot and will obviously reduce it slightly.

Teams Everyone who enters one of our fun shows will be automatically entered into the team event. When you first book you will be asked which club, you train with and this will be the team your dog will have any points allocated to. To enter this event, you must belong to a club it cannot be entered as a standalone dog. You will not be allowed to change teams once the event has started. Points allocated from clear rounds only. Agility 4 points Jumping 3 points Steeplechase 2 points The team with the highest score after the 8 shows will be deemed the winners. Placings will be 1 st 2 nd and 3 rd All members of the team will receive a rosette even if they have not scored any points. The presentation will be made at the finals 21 st October 2018. Active Members Active will not have a team in this event. Any dog who trains at Active and a dual club will not be allowed to enter the team event.
