Teams will be seeded based on the following: 1. Overall Record 2. Head to Head 3. Runs Allowed 4. Runs Scored 5. Coin Flip Home team decided by coin flip during pool play. 12U Rules Northland Pines Softball Tournament June 22-23, 2018 Games will start on time if not behind schedule. We will also start games up to 20 minutes ahead of scheduled time if we are ahead of schedule. Teams must be ready to play at the appropriate time! 1. 12 inch softball. 2. Team rosters must be turned in prior to first game. No players may be added to roster once first game starts. 3. Home team is determined by coin flip prior to start of game for pool play. Higher seed will be home team during seeded play. Home team will keep official score book. 4. 10 players on field at one time. 5. Metal spikes will be allowed. 6. Teams must communicate batting order to opposing coach and umpire prior to the start of the each game. May not change once game starts. Batting order options: Bat the roster with free defensive substitutions. If a player leaves during the game (except due to injury during that game), an out is recorded for that player's at bat. A player who has left the game cannot reenter the game. Bat a standard ten player line-up with free substitutions. 7. 6 inning games / 10 run rule after 3rd inning. 8. No inning may start after 1 hour and 15 minutes. (Championship game will not have a time limit). If game is tied after 1:15 or 6 innings, the International Tie Breaker will be used; beginning with the next full inning, the player who made the last out will start on second base. 9. 6 runs per inning limit (exception/unlimited for 6th inning). 10. 40 foot pitching rubber. 11. Bunting allowed. Can pull back and take full swing 12. Stealing is allowed after ball leaves the pitcher s hand. Players leaving early will be called out. 13. Infield fly rule but must be very catchable ball. 14. A runner can advance to 1st on a dropped 3rd strike, swinging or not, as long as first base is not occupied and there is less than 2 outs. With 2 outs, the runner can advance even if 1st is occupied. 15. Players must slide into base (other than 1st base) if a viable play is being made. Teams will be issued one warning and then the player will be called out at the umpire's discretion. 16. Courtesy runner is allowed for pitcher and catcher. Runner must be player who made last out or any player currently not in line up. 17. On overthrow to base, the runners can advance at own risk to as many bases as she wishes. If ball goes out of play, runner gets the base they are running to plus one additional base. 18. Umpires decisions are final in all instances 19. Pitchers can pitch unlimited number of innings per game and throughout tournament. Max of 5 warm up pitches between innings. 20. Trips to the mound by a coach may not exceed 1 per inning. The second trip shall automatically result in the removal of the pitcher for that inning. 21. In case of inclement weather the tournament director reserves the right to alter the tournament format if necessary 22. Coaches and players are responsible for cleanup of dugout after their games. Profanity or harassment by a team member, coach, or fan toward an opposing team, umpire or official of the tournament will not be tolerated. This type of activity will lead to an immediate ejection without warning by a tournament official or umpire. Fields: All games played on NPHS Softball Fields. Concessions: RickDogs Concessions Trailer. Concessions will be available on both days at the NPHS fields and profits will support Northland Pines Youth Softball. Card Drawing: Playing cards will be sold for $10 each; once deck is sold one card will be drawn. Winner will receive half the pot ($260 if full deck of cards is sold). Do not need to be present to win. All proceeds from drawing go to Northland Pines Youth softball program Restrooms: Restrooms are available at field location Locker Rooms and Showers: Locker rooms and showers are available at NPHS as some of the team's camp for the weekend. NO towels will be provided.
