glenlo Abbey hotel Welcoming guests since 1740 We look forward to welcoming you to Glenlo Abbey Hotel. The name Glenlo or Glenlough comes from the Irish Glean Locha meaning Glen of the Lake. It describes the gently sloping lands north and south of Lough Corrib. Set on 138 acres and built in 1740, it was constructed by a member of the Ffrench family who was a well-known Galway banker. The stone-built Abbey which gives the house its name was constructed for the use of Lady Ffrench in the 1790 s who died before it was consecrated and today it serves as a unique event venue. There is so much to discover and experience both on the hotel grounds and in the surrounding area. We are a fantastic base from where to explore the natural beauty of Connemara and the West of Ireland. The Aran Islands are also easily accessible - it is only a 20 minute drive to Inverin from where you can take a short 9 minute flight or just a 40 minute drive to the ferry point at Rossaveal. Take time to relax in one of our many reception rooms, enjoy a round of golf, cycling or a stroll along our walking trails, spend time on the lake or maybe try your hand at Archery and Falconry in our walled garden. We hope this booklet will help you to make the most of your stay. For further details or to book any item in this brochure, please call us on +353 91 519600 and we will be delighted to help. On behalf of the team, we wish you an enjoyable and memorable stay. Marie Lally Proprietor
