Regional Tournament Teams; We would first like to thank you and your respective State for participating in the 2017 Midwest Plains Regional 12U Softball Tournament this summer in Limon, Colorado. The Town of Limon, Limon Recreation Department, and East Central players and the residents of the East Central Girls Babe Ruth Softball League communities would like to welcome your State, team, families, fans and members of your community to. We hope it will be a memorable and rewarding experience that you will remember for years to come! The Limon Recreation Department and the Town of Limon are excited and eager to help make your time with us enjoyable. We will have team check in on Thursday, July 6 th. Following completion of the team check-ins, the Officials meeting and the Welcoming Picnic, Opening Ceremonies and the first games of the tournament will be that evening. Teams will play three pool play games with all teams advancing to the championship single elimination bracket. Team members, coaches, and managers are required to attend their scheduled check-in time. The Regional winner automatically qualifies for the 12U World Series in Jensen Beach-Treasure Coast, Florida, July 29 thru August 4. The Regional runnerup will also have the opportunity to advance to the 12U World Series with certain travel limitations. Good Luck, have fun, play hard and enjoy your stay in Limon. MEMO TO REGIONAL TOURNAMENT MANAGERS 1. Double check your credential packet. Be sure that you have all required documents. 2. The Headquarters Hotel will be the Holiday Inn Express. Please call the hotel directly to reserve a room 719-775-9033. Additional rooms have been held at the following hotels for the teams, Comfort Inn, Inn & Suites, and Quality Inn & Suites. We have attached a list of some of the other hotels in the area. Teams needing housing must stay in one of the designated hotels unless granted permission by the Assistant Regional Commissioner for Softball. You will need to provide contact numbers for all coaches, managers and where you are staying at check-in. If there are changes to the schedule for games we will contact you at the numbers provided. We are NOT responsible if you do not answer and are late for games. 3. Make sure you arrive at the check-in site as a complete team and at your designated time. Teams are to arrive and depart as a complete group. There will be NO Exceptions, unless there has been prior approval from the Assistant Regional Commissioner for Softball. All such requests must be fully documented. Any player not excused and missing from check-in will not be allowed to participate in the tournament. 4. The team, manager and coaches are required to attend the welcoming social. Managers and coaches are required to attend the Officials Meeting at 3:00 pm at the Limon Community Building at 477 D Ave, Limon CO. Unless you have made prior arrangements with the regional director. Tournament rules will be discussed at this time. 5. Remind your players that there is a curfew. It is 11:00 p.m. or one (1) hour after the finish of the last scheduled game of the day. 6. Any questions regarding any aspect of the tournament should be directed to the task force member in charge. 7. Remember that managers and coaches shall wear uniforms consistent with the Babe Ruth Champion Teams with the Babe Ruth Softball patch on the left shoulder. 8. Good sportsmanship makes the game enjoyable for everyone. Anyone acting in an unsportsmanlike manner will be removed from the playing field and facilities immediately. 9. Be sure to have a team meeting and read through the Player s Guide with your team! Be sure that they know what is expected of them. Page 4

Page 7 Important Notes & Times Tournament Picnic: All coaches, managers, players, must attend the social at the Limon Community Building at 4:00 PM on Thursday July 6, 2017. Families are welcome. No charge for coaches and players wearing their jerseys. The cost will be $5.00 per person, ages 6 and under are $3.00. Officials Meeting: All Officials, Coaches, Managers, Head Umpire, Regional Task Force, and members of the tournament committee are REQUIRED to attend. The meeting will be held at Community Building at 3:00 PM on Thursday July 6, 2017 following the completion of check-in of all teams. Opening Ceremonies: All coaches, managers, and players MUST attend the Opening Ceremonies (unless you have made prior arrangements with the Regional Director) which will be held at 5:15 PM on Thursday, July 6, 2017 at the Softball Complex-see attached map. Please report to the park no later than 5:00 PM in full uniform at the designated location on the field. Concessions: Hot and cold concessions will be available before, during, and after all games at the ballpark. Bring some extra spending money and enjoy a snack during the game! Water coolers for the team will be provided in the dugouts. NO PETS, SMOKING, OR ALCOHOL WILL BE ALLOWED IN THE BALL PARK OR THE COMPLEX! WATER WILL BE PROVIDED IN EACH DUGOUT FOR THE TEAM MEMBERS ONLY. Team/Individual Awards: During the opening ceremonies, the Host League will provide participation certificates to all managers, coaches and players. Closing ceremonies will recognize the top teams and individuals. Individual player and coach medallions will be awarded to members of the tournament winner and runner up. The regional champion and runner up teams will receive a team award plaque or trophy. The team who reflects outstanding sportsmanship as determined by the tournament committee and the Babe Ruth Task Force will receive the Regionally sponsored "Norm & Colleen Travis Team Sportsmanship" banner with each team member receiving individual pins. The winning team will also receive the Regional Championship banner. The one individual player (from any team) who exhibits outstanding sportsmanship, character, and distinguishes herself both on and off the field from the time she arrives at the tournament will receive the Commissioner's award as determined by the Babe Ruth Task Force member.

Additional Information Practice Fields: Contact the Tournament Director for available times and locations.!important! Tournament Program Pictures: Please e-mail your team picture with player names in the order they appear on the picture to the Tournament Director Carla Stone (cstone@townoflimon.com). We encourage you to send your pictures ASAP and follow up after your tournament representatives are assigned. Parents, Family and Fans-Souvenirs: Parents, family and fans are invited to check-in, but not required to attend. Tournament souvenir shirts, shorts, official programs and picnic tickets will be available for purchase at check-in time, at the picnic and during the tournament. Souvenir Programs ($3 each), souvenir t-shirts (short-sleeved for $15 each) and shorts for ($20 each) will be available during check-in and during the tournament; although you are encouraged to purchase yours at check-in. Prices will not be reduced during the tournament. Pre-Game Information: Warm ups will be allowed only on the practice field or warm-up area between fields. DO NOT warm up in the Parking Lot. No pregame infield/outfield will be allowed on the game field. This includes any pregame "grounder line." Pitchers and catchers may use the batting cage area to warm up. When you enter the field, your team needs to be ready to play ball. Home team shall use the third base dugout and visitors shall use the first base dugout. Turn line-ups into official scorekeepers 15 minutes prior to game time. Scorekeepers will be located in the building on North End. Line-ups: Ensure that your lineup is filled out correctly before presenting it to the official scorekeeper 15 minutes prior to your scheduled game time. Line-up cards should be 4 part, with the white or top copy going to the umpire. The second copy should be presented to the official scorekeeper, third copy presented to your opponent, and last copy is for your use. You must include player s number, position played, first and last name. Lineup cards that are filled out incorrectly will be returned to manager to correct. Gate Admission: Family 4-pack will be $40 for the entire tournament. Daily fees will be $5 for adults and $3 for children 5-12. There will be a concession stand which we encourage you to support. Page 11

Tournament Souvenir Shirts & Shorts: Tournament T-Shirts and shorts will be made available for purchase at check-in and during the tournament until sold out: T-Shirts for $15, shorts for $20. We encourage purchase of the souvenirs at this time as prices will not be reduced throughout the tournament. Page 12 Player Instructions Officials of Babe Ruth League, Inc. and the hard-working host city have made extensive efforts to make certain your stay will be pleasant and rewarding. Therefore, we shall expect that you absolutely cooperate with the following regulations pertaining to your actions during the tournament. Assistance: We want all players to thoroughly enjoy themselves during the tournament. If you need any information or assistance, please contact your team manager immediately. Conduct: Your conduct must be above reproach on and off the field. Any misbehavior or misconduct could not only cause you disqualification from the tournament but could also disqualify your team as well. Schedule: Follow your team schedule at all times. Be at practice sessions, tournament games and special events on time. Be sure to check with your manager and the Tournament Director whenever you wish to divert from the listed functions. Appearance: As champions, we expect your dress to be neat. You may of course dress informally and comfortably. At all times, neatness and cleanliness of appearance is required. Curfew: Curfew time is 11:00 pm or (1) hour after the day s last scheduled activity or tournament game. If an event or game goes beyond 12:00 midnight all participating team members will return to their housing facilities. There will be no one (1) hour grace period. Uniforms: Each player on the same team shall wear a different number on their uniform. The division appropriate Official Shoulder Emblem must be worn on each team member s left shirt sleeve. (For sleeveless uniforms the shoulder emblem must be worn on the left front chest). For additional requirements see the attached Regional Uniform Requirements.

Flags/Banners: If your league or team has a banner or flag (or State Flag), please arrange to bring it with you. We will display them at the Opening Ceremonies and request you display it during your tournament games. Housing: No host family housing is provided for this tournament. Managers/Coaches Uniforms: The Manager and Coaches must each have a matching jersey which matches their players. Coach's jerseys do not need to contain a number. Coaches may wear "coach's shorts" as long as the coach s shorts are the same color, match each other, and are in general color coordination with the team colors. Umpires: The umpires provided for this tournament have many years of experience working softball. They will enforce all rules and regulations covered in the official softball rulebook and the rules and regulations of Babe Ruth Softball. Please treat them with respect at all times. Only the manager will be allowed to discuss an umpire s decision or any play of a controversial nature. The home plate umpire will be informed of the identity of each team s manager prior to the start of each game. Sportsmanship: Any player, manager, coach or fan acting in an un-sportsmanlike manner will be removed from the playing field and facility immediately. Such behavior may also result in disqualification from the tournament. Spending Money: Each player should bring money to potentially purchase a program, tournament t-shirt, shorts, concession items, and other personal items that they might need. Say Thank You : Players, please take the time to say thank you to the host volunteers, who have given their time and gone out of their way to make players, coaches and families feel welcome at the tournament. Page 13

Catcher s Gear: Catchers are required to wear a mask and helmet during warm-ups both before and during the game. Any other player that is used to warm up a pitcher either between innings or in the bullpen should wear a helmet and a mask. Batting Helmets: An approved, double ear flap batting helmet must be worn at bat, while running the bases, in the on-deck circle and by any other player that might be coaching at first or third base. In addition, all bat persons must wear a batting helmet while on the playing field. Use of the caged helmets are required for all Babe Ruth play. In the Dugouts and on the Field: Only players, managers, coaches and bat persons will be allowed in each team s dugout or on the field. Anyone in the dugout must be on a league s roster during the regular season and also included on the tournament roster. This does not include your bat person. Equipment: Bats, gloves, balls and other equipment must be kept in the dugout, in the proper place and never on the field. Discarding of bats, helmets, gloves or any other items in an unsportsmanlike manner can result in an ejection from the game. Action Photos: Action photos will be taken during the tournament as arranged by the Host League. Photos will be for sale throughout the tournament. Other than the official photographers, no other photographers shall be permitted inside the playing fields, bullpens or dugouts.
