NORTHEAST USARS AWARDS DINNER The Northeast Region USARS is proud to be the host of the annual awards banquet. The Northeast USARS Awards Dinner Committee will be the organizers of the banquet. The committee will meet in February to vote on the following awards. All nominations must be submitted by an SRSTA, USARS, or RSA member of the Northeast Region by January 31, 2009. All nominations should be written in letter format with an in depth explanation,, specific to the award, why the person should be considered nsidered(1 page max). A picture may also be sent. Please either mail to Bob Comeau, 450 S Peachtree Pkwy, Peachtree City, GA 30269 or via e-mail e at NESKATING@AOL.COM.. No nominations wil be accepted after the deadline. We W will run the banquet the same as last year with the winners of the individual awards be announced the night of the banquet, as this has been well w received. SKATER(S) OF THE YEAR The skater(s) of the year shall be anyone who has contributed outstandingly to the sport of Roller Skating during the year in which he or she has been nominated. This writeup should pertain to the past skating season only. The Recipient of the Skater(s) of the Year will not be eligible for any of the other awards. *HALL OF FAME (Maximum of 2 awards per year) All nominees should have been or are members of either RSA or USARS. Members shall be defined as persons in the following categories: Competitors, Non-Competitors, Teachers. Coaches and Operators. *SPECIALTY AWARDS Specialty Awards are given to outstanding skaters in each of the following skating disciplines: Dance, Solo Dance, Figures, Freestyle, and Speed. *ELAINE BREEN MERITORIOUS AWARD A service award to a person(s) dedicated to the sport of Roller Skating.
*BABIEC SPORTSMANSHIP AWARD A sportsmanship award to a person(s) who has shown outstanding sportsmanship in the year nominated. *UNCLE CHARLIE SANTORO MEMORIAL YOUTH ACHIEVEMENT AWARD This award is given to a skater or skaters in the Freshman Division or younger that have competed in the standard events and shows great promise to the sport of Roller Skating. Recipients of this award need not be National Champions; they may be eligible based on Regional accomplishments. CARUSO MEMORIAL AWARD This award is given for those that support the skaters, namely the parents, grandparents, or guardians of those skaters. Does not matter how old the child is. The child must be competing in the current season. The nominee must have shown support, not only for the child but for other skaters as well. This support can be in cheering them on, making outfits, doing hair, cleaning wheels and bearings, and the list could go on. UP AND COMING SKATER Highland Heights Award in Memory of Leonel Rose This award is given to a skater or skaters in the Level B & C Events who shows great promise to the sport of Roller Skating. Recipients of this award must be skating in the current skating season in the Northeast Region. NOTE: Deceased members cannot be nominated for any of the above awards. The above guidelines are subject to change only be a 2/3 majority vote by the Northeast USARS Awards Dinner Committee. The final decision on all awards shall be made after a thorough screening by the committee, with all decisions being at least a 2/3 majority. The committee will accept all nominations and make a decision if the skater(s) are eligible. * Not awarded every year
2009 Annual Awards Banquet It s with great excitement that I inform everyone we will be doing the silent auction/raffle again this year at the Awards Banquet. Please accept my apologizes for the late announcement; however the Awards Banquet now has my full attention. There are a few things I need everyone s help with, such as donations of items and or time! We again are asking skaters, parents and club s to submit skating pictures to: Kerriskater123@yahoo.com In addition to skating pictures if possible; I would like everyone to submit a photo of themselves when they were a baby/or child. We are going to have a brief contest who ever guess the most people correctly will be the winner (Prize included).. The cost to enter the contest will be $2.00 Lot s of laughs come along with this contest Idea s are welcome please email me with your idea s to make this year s banquet a huge success.
