Dale (sp) RACE 1: Shane Eades Transport Pty Ltd Maiden Plate 1000m: Elsie's Magicdance laid in rounding the home turn and in the early part of the straight. Commenced to lay out from the 200m. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Unwise began awkwardly and shifted in, made contact with Colonel Penaga and became unbalanced. Shortly after, the filly was bumped by Battle Anthem, which shifted in. Laid out under pressure in the straight. Whinging Wife bounded on jumping. Laid out under pressure in the straight. RACE 2: Brett and Emily's 21 st Benchmark 68 Handicap 1000m: Rampage bumped on jumping. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. The Drake after being loaded in the barriers became fractious, reared and got its near foreleg cast for a significant period of time over the partition. The Drake underwent a veterinary examination and was ruled unfit to start. Stewards subsequently ordered that all moneys placed on The Drake be refunded in full and, with regard to betting with bookmakers, all successful wagers made prior to 12.20 p.m. be subject to the following deductions in the dollar on the face value of the ticket: 1 st Stone Cold - less 25 cents win, 24 cents place; 2 nd Mydream - less 25 cents place; At a subsequent inquiry, stable representative Mr C. Ashby was told that the gelding would be required to barrier trial to the Stewards' satisfaction prior to being permitted to race again. Stone Cold knuckled shortly after the start. Le Dejeuner began awkwardly. Rider J. Hull (Rastafarian) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR137(a) in that approaching the 600m he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of The Brown One, which was taken in and across the running of Le Dejeuner, which had to be eased and lost its rightful running. J. Hull's licence to ride in races was suspended for a period to commence on Tuesday 26 June 2018 and to expire on Wednesday 4 July 2018, on which day he may ride.
20180616K GR 2 Over the final 50 metres Le Dejeuner raced in restricted room between Rastafarian and Stone Cold (App. B. Owen), which shifted in when not clear, and was unable to be fully tested. App. Owen was reprimanded. In this incident The Brown One had to be eased to avoid the heels of Rastafarian and could not be fully tested to the line. RACE 3: Happy Birthday Maureen 2YO Maiden Handicap 1000m: Regal Capital raced in restricted room over the concluding stages. Snatcha on jumping, was hampered and carried wider by Regal Capital, which began very awkwardly and shifted out. Raced greenly in the straight. Arc bumped on jumping. Passing the 200m was hampered and carried wider by Mosht Up, which shifted out. Elusive Nature from its wide barrier, was steadied and shifted in behind runners in the early stages. Overraced in the middle stages. Mosht Up was bumped on jumping by Screen Shot, which shifted in. Had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the straight and until passing the 200m when directed to the outside of Regal Capital to continue into clear running. Musume As R. Brewer was unable to make the weight, Stewards permitted J. Grisedale to be substituted as the rider of the filly. R. Brewer was fined $100 under AR120(b). Approaching the 600m, while overracing, had to be steadied from the heels of Screen Shot (K. Jennings), which shifted in when not quite clear. K. Jennings was advised to exercise more care. Our Parisian Star after being slow to begin, was crowded between Master Ash, which shifted out on jumping, and Unify, which was crowded and taken in by Musume, which began awkwardly and shifted in. Screen Shot laid out under pressure in the straight. RACE 4: Dean Industrial Pty Ltd 3YO and Up Maiden Handicap 1200m: Bobbing The declaration of correct weight was delayed to allow M. Bell, the rider of 2 nd placed Bobbing, to view the official patrol films to ascertain whether there were grounds for objection against Missile Miss being declared the winner on the basis of interference near the 250m. When M. Bell was satisfied that there were insufficient grounds to lodge an objection, and Stewards were similarly satisfied, correct weight was declared. Passing the 250m, after initially being directed inwards by Missile Miss, (App. B. Griffiths) came into contact with the hindquarter of Noble House, which shifted out, resulting in Bobbing becoming unbalanced. App. B. Griffiths was advised to exercise more care. M. Bell accidentally dropped his whip approaching the 100m. Noble House passing the 150m, raced in restricted room between Beaurama and Bobbing, which shifted in Alpha Centauri made contact with the offside gate on jumping and lost ground. Laid in rounding the turn and in the early part of the straight, and then had to be steadied when awkwardly placed on the heels of Bobbing when that runner shifted in.
20180616K GR 3 RACE 5: Happy 50 th Ronelle Sears Class 2 Handicap 1200m: Rafha's Choice slow to begin. Smooth Tycoon When questioned, rider C. Lever advised that after beginning well the gelding travelled comfortably throughout the race, however, when placed under pressure rounding the home turn, was unable to find a finishing effort and was disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Dortmund laid out under pressure in the early part of the straight and had to be eased when crowded by Lieutenant Dan, which was directed in by Bella Amante, which laid in under pressure. Lieutenant Dan approaching the 600m, raced in restricted room when awkwardly placed to the inside of the heels of Ocean Express, which had commenced to weaken. Tonsor when caught wide in the early stages was allowed to stride forward and take up the lead passing the 700m. Bold Dapper raced wide without cover throughout. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Latin Salsa shortly after the start was hampered when crowded between Ocean Express and Bella Amante, which shifted in. Ocean Express Rider A. Chau reported that the gelding, which was beaten by 46 lengths, never travelled comfortably at any stage of the event and, when placed under pressure near the 500m, commenced to weaken noticeably. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be displaying 1/5 lameness in the near hind leg. Stable representative Mr T. King was advised that a veterinary clearance must be produced prior to Ocean Express barrier trialling to the Stewards satisfaction prior to racing again. RACE 6: Markey Saddlery Provincial Benchmark 72 Handicap 1400m: Coolotta on return to scale, rider J. Grisedale reported that his mount travelled well throughout the early and middle stages, however, on straightening felt awkward in its action, and he further formed the view that his mount had pulled up sore following the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be displaying 1/5 lameness in the off-foreleg. Ms D. Grisedale, representing Trainer Mr G. Murray, was advised that a veterinary clearance would be required to be produced prior to Coolotta racing again. Prima Stella bumped on jumping by Coolotta, which began awkwardly and shifted in. Prima Stella then bumped with Dashley Dubh to its inside. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Catmosphere B. Spriggs (Your Witness) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding in that leaving the 400m he improved into a position between Prima Stella (J. Penza) and Cuba where there was insufficient room to do so, resulting in Prima
20180616K GR 4 Stella losing its running and having to be checked, and further resulting in Prima Stella severely crowding Catmosphere, which also had to be checked. B. Spriggs' licence to ride in races was suspended for a period to commence on Wednesday 20 June 2018 and to expire on Friday 29 June 2018, on which day he may ride. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Cuba A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Dashley Dubh overraced in the early and middle stages. Rinviata slow to begin. Burden Of Proof laid out under pressure in the straight. RACE 7: Tullimbar Pty Ltd Maiden Plate 1400m: Expierroment slow to begin. Held up rounding the turn and in the early part of the straight. Overraced in the early stages. Thor's Thunder laid out under pressure in the straight. Uno That raced keenly in the middle stages and passing the 900m had to be steadied from the heels of Reference. A post-race veterinary examination revealed that the gelding had bled from both nostrils for the first time. Trainer Ms T. Bateup was advised that Uno That will now incur the mandatory three-month ban from racing under AR53A(4). St Gallen laid out under pressure in the straight. Pacific Crest bumped on jumping by St Gallen, which began very awkwardly and shifted out. RACE 8: Adina Apartment Hotel Wollongong Class 1 Handicap 1400m: Poetic Charmer change of tactics to be ridden more forward: led. Slow to begin. When questioned regarding the performance of the gelding, rider A. Layt stated that passing the 1000m his mount lost its balance behind and, whilst it then travelled well to the turn, shortly after being placed under pressure, it did not respond to his riding and proved disappointing in the run to the line. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Shadal began awkwardly. Barnabas passing the 200m was disappointed for a run between Poetic Charmer and Spanish Dream and had to be shifted out to obtain clear running. Myprayer bumped on jumping by Apache Junction, which began awkwardly and shifted out. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Approaching the 600m had to be restrained from the heels of Barnabas and then became awkwardly placed on the heels of Asterius and had to be shifted out, making contact with Muse resulting in both runners becoming unbalanced. Rider R. Brewer pleaded guilty to a charge under AR137A(5)(a)(ii) in that he used his whip on nine occasions prior to the 100m, four
20180616K GR 5 more than permitted. R. Brewer was fined $300. In assessing penalty, Stewards took into account his good record. Apache Junction When questioned regarding his riding in the early stages, rider K. Jennings advised that it had been his intention to take up a position behind the lead, however, when Verlan, which was on the rail to his inside, was ridden along, Zidane was left racing behind the leaders and Apache Junction was left racing wide and without cover. Verlan change of tactics to be ridden more forward: on pace. The filly was inclined to lay out in the straight requiring rider S. Guymer to change the whip to his left hand near the 200m. GENERAL: Swab samples were taken from all winners and the following runners: Race 1: Whinging Wife, Colonel Penaga Race 2: Mydream Race 4: Bobbing (2) Race 5: Rafha's Choice, Smooth Tycoon, Bella Amante Race 6: Prima Stella Race 7: St Gallen Summary of whip use: Stewards noted the following riders exceeded the permitted number of strikes of the whip prior to the 100m under AR137A(5)(a)(ii). Bearing in mind the totality of whip use, no action was taken. Race 3 J. Penza on Master Ash 6 strikes Race 8 S. Guymer on Verlan 7 strikes SUMMARY Fines: Race 3: R.
