SATURDAY, MARCH 29, 2014 Registration - 8am to 10am Speakers (starting at 10am): Laurie Seale Laurie Seale has been raising whitetail deer in north central Wisconsin for the past 24 years. She is currently the Vice- President of Whitetails of Wisconsin and has been a board member of this association for the past 13 years. She works part time for the North American Elk Breeders Association. She is very active in the cervid industry having served as a member of the United States Animal Health Association for 10 years and has attended the annual Washington, D.C. trip for the past 11 years. She is very active on the federal and state level in the regulatory and political arena. She has a passion for the deer industry and enjoys spending time with people who share this same passion. Charly Seale I was born in Kerrville, Texas and grew up in a ranching family in Bandera County, Texas. As a fourth generation rancher my family concentrated mainly on traditional livestock such as cattle, sheep and goats After taking over the family operation in 1982 I changed to nontraditional agriculture and began raising all types of exotic hoofstock such as axis, blackbuck, scimitar horned oryx, elk, red deer, sika, and whitetail. I spent several years in the banking industry dealing mainly with real estate sales and appraisals. I left the banking industry and went to work for the Texas Department of Public Safety assigned to the Highway Patrol Service as a supervisor. I retired after 30 years with the Texas State Police and am currently working as the Executive Director of the Exotic Wildlife Association. I have been very active in the industry serving as a director of the North American Elk Breeders Association and the United States Animal Health Association, as well as several local association boards. I have a bachelor s degree in Agribusiness and Personnel Management from Texas State University and a master Police Administration degree from Northwestern University. I currently serve on the board of directors for the North American Elk Breeders Association and the United States Animal Health Association. Currently serve on 6 different committees within the USAHA and was selected as one of the co-chairman of the newly formed Farmed Cervid Subcommittee within the USAHA. Dr. Paul Anderson, MN Board of Animal Health Dr. Paul Anderson has been at the Minnesota Board of Animal Health since 1990, and currently directs programs for horses and farmed cervidae. He obtained his DVM degree from Iowa State University in 1975, then spent 11 years in private practice. In 1988, Dr. Anderson earned a Master s degree in epidemiology and public health from the University of Minnesota. Dr. Bill Hartman, MN Board of Animal Health Dr. Bill Hartmann graduated from the University of Minnesota, College of Veterinary Medicine in 1978. After four years in practice, he returned to the University of Minnesota where he completed a pathology residency in the Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory and received his Master s Degree in Veterinary Anatomic Pathology. He joined the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Veterinary Services as a Veterinary Medical Officer in 1985 In 1988, he joined the Minnesota Board of Animal Health as a Senior Veterinarian in charge of ruminant disease programs. Hartmann was appointed Minnesota Board of Animal Health Executive Director and State Veterinarian in 2001. Under his direction, the Board has detected and fought against diseases such as Chronic Wasting Disease, avian influenza, and bovine tuberculosis (TB). Since TB was found in Minnesota beef cattle in 2005, Dr. Hartmann has worked with producers, veterinarians, stakeholders, and other agencies to eradicate the disease and regain a TB-Free status for the entire state. The Board has been commended for their swift and efficient response to ensure a safe, healthy, and thriving cattle industry in Minnesota Throughout his years as a veterinarian, Dr. Hartmann has been an active member of the United States Animal Health Association.
