Mt. Vernon wildcat basketball 2017-2018 Welcome to Wildcat Athletics for the 2017-2018 School Year! On behalf of the Athletic Department and all of the MVHS Coaching Staff, I would like to welcome you and your family to another exciting year of Wildcat Athletics! Mt. Vernon High School is a proud member of the Indiana High School Athletic Association (IHSAA) and the Big 8 Athletic Conference. We, the coaches of MVHS, believe that many of the character traits required to be a successful student-athlete are exactly those that will promote success in life after high school. As such, we have 20 varsity sports competing for both Big 8 and sectional championships during the 17-18 school year. This winter, our boys and girls basketball, boys and girls swimming and wrestling teams are currently in action and striving to reach the top! Please accept this invitation to come join us in support of these competitive Cats as they strive to better their performances from a year ago while building on the success from the fall sports. We also invite you to access our website which houses photo galleries, sport results, instant alerts and an electronic schedule that updates daily. The web address is: mvwildcats.com. We encourage you to sign up for Alerts, located on the home page, for your favorite sports which allow you to get instant text or email alerts regarding weather related delays and schedule changes as well as information regarding final scores from our sporting events. By accessing the Schedules & Rosters tab under each sport, you can view the most up-to-date schedule for each sport. If you have an IOS device: iphone, ipad or MacBook, you can download the schedules directly into your calendar by choosing subscribe found at the top of the schedule. Contact the Athletic Department for more information: 812-833-2060. The Mt. Vernon High School Boys Basketball Team has been assigned by the IHSAA to Sectional 32 in Class 3A. Class 3A consists basketball-playing member schools ranking 99 th through 200 th in total enrollment in grades 9, 10, 11 and 12 (532 1,094 students). Due to the realignment by the IHSAA a year ago, our Basketball Sectional includes: Boonville, Evansville Bosse, Evansville Reitz Memorial, Gibson Southern, Heritage Hills and Mt. Vernon. Sectional competition is set to begin in the first week of March with the pairings to take place a week or so in advance. We will post these pairings on the website once they become available. The Athletic Department values our student-athletes and looks forward to supporting all of their efforts. Each year and each new season brings an opportunity to represent Mt. Vernon High School in inter-scholastic competition.
