Spa Start Up & Maintenance Your spa or hot tub is an investment in relaxation. Follow these simple steps for maximum enjoyment!

Quality We offer a complete variety of products to support both of our chlorinating and brominating programs. OMNI offers Sanitizers, Oxidizers, Balancers and Accessories, all formulated for maximum performance and value. As a family of quality products, the products work superbly on their own or in spas that use pre-installed devices, such as ozonators. Spa Needs 1. CIRCULATION: Run your spa's circulation system every day. Check your Spa Owner manual to determine how long your spa's circulation system should run or ask your OMNI Dealer for advice. 2. FILTRATION: A filter that is operating properly helps keep the water clear by capturing the hair, oils, and cosmetics that wash off when people use the spa. When the filter is dirty or clogged, all this debris remains in the water. Most spas have a cartridge filter. Check your owner's manual for detailed information on how to remove the filter for cleaning. Typically, you should clean your filter with OMNI 2-IN-1 Filter Cleaner every 4-6 weeks. Use OMNI Water Clarifier weekly. Some particles of debris are microscopic and too small for the filter to catch. OMNI Water Clarifier will help join these tiny particles together, allow the filter to remove them, and keep the water clear. 3. CLEANING If left unchecked, contaminants such as dirt, oil, and even bacteria can accumulate at the waterline, much like a bathtub ring. Regular cleaning of spa surfaces preserves the surfaces so the whole spa environment looks and feels better. Use a skimmer net to remove floating debris. Brush and vacuum the spa. If you have a skimmer basket, empty it once or twice a week. 4. CHEMISTRY OMNI : products provide numerous benefits. When used as recommended, they will: Make the water clean, safe and feel comfortable. Kill bacteria, which can multiply rapidly in a spa. Protect spa surfaces from stains caused by metals that are often dissolved in water. Protect spa equipment from scale caused by calcium deposits. Scale can accumulate on spa surfaces and inside filters and heaters, greatly reducing their effectiveness. Maintain an adequate sanitizer level at all times to kill bacteria. Use one of the following sanitizers: OMNI Brominating Concentrate: Bromine is an ideal bacteria fighter in the spa environment. Simply add these concentrated granules into the spa water according to label instructions. A "shock" dose of Brominating Concentrate can also serve as an Oxidizing treatment. OMNI Brominating Tablets: As these Brominating Tablets dissolve, they release powerful protection against bacteria. Use them in a brominator or in a floating feeder. IMPORTANT: Do not place Brominating Tablets in the skimmer or drop directly onto the spa's surface. OMNI Chlorinating Concentrate: This fast-dissolving chlorine product is also effective against bacteria and easy to apply. Sprinkle the granules directly into the spa according to label instructions. A shock dose of Chlorinating Concentrate can also serve as an Oxidizing treatment. Note: Always read product labels before usage.

Use OMNI Quick Clear Oxygen-based Shock (or a shock dosage of Brominating or Chlorinating Concentrate) to remove undesirable compounds, eliminate odours, clarify the water, and restore the sparkle. NOTE: Even if your spa is equipped with an ozone generator, you still need OMNI sanitizing and "shock" products. Ozone can provide some oxidizing support, but ozone is very short-lived. OMNI sanitizers provide the continuous, reliable protection you need. For your convenience, we have colour-coded our products: PURPLE: BROMINATING SANITIZERS - to kill bacteria and keep the water protected and soothing. ROSE: CHLORINATING SANITIZERS - to kill bacteria and keep the water protected and soothing. ORANGE: ACCESSORIES - to keep the spa surfaces clean and the water beautiful. BLUE: BALANCERS - to make the water feel wonderful, and protect the spa surfaces and equipment. GREEN: OXIDIZERS - to remove undesirable compounds and keep the water clean and inviting. 5. TESTING There are two (2) primary components that affect spa water quality; Sanitizer and ph. When both are within their recommended ranges: Your water is comfortable, protected and clear. Your sanitizers and "shock" products work efficiently. Your spa surfaces and equipment are protected. Maintain sanitizer within the recommended levels: Total Bromine residual = 3.0-6.0 ppm OR Free Available Chlorine residual = 2.0-5.0 ppm Maintain the ph between 7.4-7.6. In this range, bathers are comfortable, the spa surface and equipment are protected, and the sanitizers perform efficiently. Maintain proper water balance. This will help protect your spa equipment and ensure comfortable water. Water Balance Factor Ideal range To increase: To decrease: (Adjust 1st) Total Alkalinity 125-150 ppm OMNI Total Alkalinity Increaser OMNI ph Decreaser (Adjust 2nd) ph 7.4-7.6 OMNI ph Increaser OMNI ph Decreaser (Adjust 3rd) Calcium Hardness 100-200 ppm OMNI Calcium Hardness Increaser Dilution with new water Metals (Copper & Iron) 0.0-0.5 ppm - Dilution with new water, OMNI Stain and Scale Control 6. DRAINING AND REFILLING: Regular draining and refilling is a normal part of spa maintenance. Over time, the water absorbs and dissolves minerals, chemicals and other soluble material. Your OMNI Dealer can perform a Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) test to help determine if it is time to replace your water. High TDS can make the water look dull, become foamy and develop an odour. How often you drain and refill your spa depends on how often you use it. Every time you refill your spa with fresh water, use OMNI Stain and Scale Control to prevent metal stains and scale build-up. If your water contains high levels of minerals or metals, your OMNI Dealer may also recommend a weekly maintenance dose.

YOUR SPA CONTAINS LITRES Start-Up Procedures ( Fresh Fill ) Your spa start-up should always start with a complete water test. Bring a 1 litre sample of your fill-water to your OMNI Dealer for a complete water analysis. Record the fresh-fill recommendations in the following table for future drain and refills. 1. Protect your spa equipment from scale caused by calcium deposits. Scale can accumulate on spa surfaces and inside filters and heaters, greatly reducing their effectiveness. Fill your spa with water and add 25 ml of OMNI Stain and Scale Control per 1,000 L of spa water during filling. This establishes initial protection against staining and scaling. Add ml of OMNI Stain and Scale Control. 2. Test the spa water and balance it, as needed. Parameter Reading Add Total Alkalinity (ppm) ph Calcium Hardness 3. Always adjust Total Alkalinity first, then ph, then Calcium Hardness. 4. Maintain an adequate sanitizer level at all times to kill bacteria. To establish an initial sanitizer reading, add a brominating or chlorinating OMNI product and maintain at recommended levels to kill bacteria and keep spa water clean and bathers safe. If you prefer to use bromine: Bromine is the ideal bacteria fighter in the spa environment. With exciting, new OMNI Brominating Concentrate, there is no need to pre-treat with bromide salts. No need to add oxidizers to activate it, either. This "one-step" product is used as a regular sanitizer and as an oxidizer to rid the spa of odours and undesirable compounds. Brominating Concentrate is added directly to spa water, while the pump is running. Since Brominating Concentrate is ph-neutral, there is no need to adjust ph or Total Alkalinity after the treatment either. Add OMNI Brominating Concentrate at a rate of 6 g per 1,000 L of spa water. Repeat additions every 15-20 minutes until a consistent bromine residual of 3.0-6.0 ppm is established. Use test strips or a reliable test kit to check sanitizer levels often. NOTE: Do not overdose. Add grams of Brominating Concentrate. Alternatively, if preferred, you can add OMNI Brominating Tablets to an automatic feeder or floating dispenser to establish the bromine level. As these Brominating Tablets dissolve, they release powerful protection against bacteria. These tablets, however, are acidic and may lower ph, so ph and Total Alkalinity should be tested frequently and adjusted as necessary. IMPORTANT: Do not place Brominating Tablets in the skimmer or drop directly onto the spa's surface. If you prefer to use chlorine: Initially, add OMNI Chlorinating Concentrate at a rate of 20 g per 1,000 L of spa water. Repeat additions every 15-20 minutes until a consistent Free Available Chlorine (FAC) residual of 3.0-5.0 ppm is established. With a near-neutral ph, it is also easy to maintain balanced water. Chlorinating Concentrate is added directly to spa water while the pump is running. Use regular doses as a sanitizer and shock doses as an oxidizer. Use test strips or a reliable test kit to check sanitizer levels often. NOTE: Do not overdose. Add grams of Chlorinating Concentrate

Daily Maintenance 1. Run spa pump and filter at least 8 hours per day to circulate water and help keep spa clean. 2. Test sanitizer level and maintain in proper range. Maintain a Total Bromine level of 3.0-6.0 ppm or a Free Available Chlorine level of 3.0-5.0 ppm. 3. Test ph and adjust if needed to maintain a ph reading of 7.4-7.6. These tests should be done before entering the spa. Aeration from the jets may result in incorrect test readings. Weekly Maintenance 1. Use a skimmer net to remove floating debris. 2. Brush and vacuum the spa. 3. If you have a skimmer basket, empty it. 4. Wearing rubber gloves, remove the filter cartridge from the housing. Using normal water pressure from a garden hose, gently spray off the accumulated debris until clean. Replace the filter cartridge. NOTE: This will only remove surface particulate, not the embedded oils and greases in the pleats of the cartridge. 5. Oxidize (or "shock") the spa water to remove organic compounds and keep water clear. When people use spas, they leave undesirable compounds like body oil, perspiration and cosmetics that can irritate skin, burn eyes and create odours. Oxidizing, also known as shocking the water, removes these undesirable compounds and restores water clarity and comfort. An oxidizer should be used weekly in most residential spas, more frequently in heavily-used or commercial spas. Add 30 g of OMNI Quick Clear Oxygenbased Shock Treatment per 1,000 L of spa water every week. Add grams of OMNI Quick Clear. 6. Add 15 ml of OMNI Stain & Scale Control per 1,000 L of spa water to prevent stains and scaling on spa equipment on a continual basis. Add ml of Stain and Scale Control. 7. Apply OMNI Surface Cleaner to a sponge or soft cloth and wipe along waterline and spa surface to remove oils, grease, and other debris. This fast-acting product breaks up the oils and debris at the waterline so you can easily wipe the surface clean. Unlike most common household cleaners, OMNI Surface Cleaner is completely compatible with your spa's water chemistry. 8. Use OMNI Water Clarifier weekly. It "polishes" the water, by helping the filter to pick up extremely fine particulate. Add ml of Water Clarifier 9. For maximum bather comfort, add 200 g of OMNI Presence Plus Spa Water Enhancer per 1,000 L of spa water. This product enhances chemical effectiveness, improves water clarity and increases overall bather comfort by reducing skin irritation. On top of all that, it also provides added protection to all metal surfaces, including the heat exchanger, with unique corrosion inhibitors. Add grams of Omni Presence Plus. 10. Suggestion: Add 85 ml of OMNI Natural Enzyme Clarifier per 1,000 L of spa water to reduce waterline build-up and help keep the filter clean and operating properly. This safe, all-natural product digests most oils and eliminates them from the water. By removing these oils: Your spa water will be less likely to form foam. Your waterline will require less frequent cleaning. Your spa surface will be easier to clean. Your filter will require less maintenance. Add ml of Natural Enzyme Cleaner There you are, soaking in warm, swirling water, under the moon. The day s stress and tension all but disappear. The warm waters massage and soothe every muscle in your body, leaving you to enjoy true relaxation. We, at OMNI, hope that this Guide helps you to realize such moments in time.

Draining And Refilling NOTE: Many spa and hot tub manufacturers recommend the use of a Hot Tub Pipe Cleaner before draining. If Swirl Away is used, follow this procedure: 1. Remove filter cartridge(s). 2. Pour 250 ml of Swirl Away into spa or hot tub prior to draining. 3. Turn heater OFF or reduce thermostat temperature. 4. Turn pump on at high speed for one (1) hour. 5. Drain spa or hot tub. 6. Resume normal cleaning and refilling procedures (see Step 2, below). 7. Repeat each time the spa is to be emptied and cleaned. If Swirl Away is not used to clean the plumbing system between fillings: 1. Drain the water. Check your owner's manual for information. 2. Clean the spa surfaces with OMNI Surface Cleaner. It not only restores the shine, it protects the acrylic finish. 3. Refill the spa with fresh water. 4. Take a sample of the water used to refill the spa to your OMNI Dealer for a complete analysis. 5. Add the recommended OMNI products in the order and amount determined by the water analysis. Safety Tips As with any new piece of equipment, your spa or hot tub should be properly supervised for safe use. Pregnant women, persons with heart disease, diabetes, high or low blood pressure or any serious illness, and indeed persons with any doubt, should not enter a spa or hot tub without prior consultation with their doctor. There is a distinction between warm water and hot - the maximum safe temperature is 40 C (104 F). Fifteen minutes per soak is the recommended maximum time at 40 C (104 F). Never use a spa or hot tub if under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Read and follow product label directions carefully. Never mix chemicals. Do not interchange caps. Always add chemical products to water, never water to chemical. Store chemical products in cool, dry storage. Do not add chemical products when bathers have the spa in use. NOTE: Do not leave children unattended.

Spa Products Guide SANITIZERS & SHOCKS Brominating Concentrate - Our easy to use, one-step granular sanitizer and oxidizer for spas and hot tubs. This phneutral product dissolves quickly and completely to immediately establish sanitizer levels in spa water, or to perform shock treatments in brominated spa water. Brominating Tablets - Compressed 1" bromine tablets provide long lasting sanitizing protection. These very soluble bromine tablets offer an alternative to traditional chlorine products. They are designed for use in brominators or floaters. More effective in a wider ph range, bromine is a better sanitizer than chlorine. Chlorinating Concentrate - Contains 56% available chlorine, for regular sanitizing and oxidizing of spa water. These granules dissolve rapidly and completely in spa water. Quick Clear - Non-chlorine, oxygen-based granular shock treatment for spas and hot tubs. Removes unwanted organic compounds from spa water and restores water sparkle. ACCESSORIES Presence 'Plus' - Increases overall water comfort by reducing skin and eye irritation, works to enhance water clarity, protects metal surfaces with unique corrosion inhibitors, enhances overall chemical effectiveness, has a unique, ph-neutral formula and comes in a fresh, pleasant fragrance. Natural Enzyme Clarifier - Naturally digests and eliminates oils. Prevents waterline build-up and improves filtration. This all-natural formulation is non-toxic and completely biodegradable. Surface Cleaner - A thick, effective cleaner for removing oils, dirt, and debris from all spa surfaces. Nonabrasive formula will not scratch up spa finish. Antifoam - Quickly eliminates any surface foam caused by undesirable excess bather compounds and detergents. 2-IN-1 Filter Cleaner - Removes oil, grease, scale, rust, and other debris from spa filters to enhance filtration and improve water clarity. Use every 4-6 weeks to keep filters clean and operating properly. Water Clarifier - Clears cloudy water by helping filter collect floating particles. It improves the filter's efficiency, without affecting water balance. BALANCERS Total Alkalinity Increaser - Raises alkalinity level to protect spa water from sudden changes in ph. ph Increaser - Convenient, granular product that raises the ph of spa and hot tub water. ph Decreaser - Lowers ph level to provide proper water balance. It is easier and safer to store and handle than liquid acid. Calcium Hardness Increaser - Increases calcium hardness level in spa water. It helps to prevent corrosion of spa equipment and surfaces. Stain & Scale Control - Liquid formula prevents stains from dissolved metals including iron, copper, and manganese. Also prevents scale formations from excess calcium in water.
