The Gardner Music Booster Association in association with MICCA officials are planning what should be an exciting and educational event for you, your staff, your fans, and of course your students. As a reminder MICCA adopted new format for the judge s clinic a few years ago. Each band is being allotted 30 minutes to both perform and have an on-field judge s clinic with the students and staff immediately following their performance. Enclosed is a packet of information including directions, your performance time, etc. Hopefully this will answer many of your questions. I look forward to seeing your group on Saturday, October 4 th, and in the meantime, please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions 978-632-1600 ext. 1149 lepistd@gardnerk12.org or for the day of the show/emergency cell phone 978-602- 4405. Sincerely, Douglas B. Lepisto Douglas B. Lepisto Music Director Gardner High School Page 1 of 5

IN CASE OF RAIN In the event of inclement weather, the show WILL take place as a standstill in the Gardner High School Gym. A concession stand will still be set up and judges will comment on the music and color guard visuals. I will try to contact the directors prior to their arrival as to whether the show will be on the field or inside. If you have a question, contact me at 978-632-1600 ext. 1149 and you can also e-mail me lepistd@gardnerk12.org ABOUT MICCA PREVIEW The MICCA Preview show came into existence as a way for MICCA Bands to perform their show for each other in a non-competitive environment prior to starting the MICCA season. Each band may perform all or part of their field show for four judges. Following their performance, the band will stay on the field for a hands-on clinic with two of the judges who just observed them. This is a change from the lecture style clinics that took place in past years. NO STARS will be awarded and NO MEDALS will be given. Each band will receive a participation plaque. Each band will receive a visual and music tape from the judges as well as a videotape of their performance. MICCA continues to strive for the most educational and enjoyable experiences for all of the music programs in Massachusetts. Page 4 of 5

Each band will be given a 30 minute time slot. At the conclusion of the performance the band will stay on the field and 2 judges will come down to the field to work with the band. This format replaced the normal lecture style clinic from past years. The judges will be equipped with a wireless PA system so that everyone will be able to hear. Page 5 of 5
