City Suburban Catholic Conference Soccer Rules 2018 All rules will be governed by the IHSA current rule book. These special rules supersede IHSA rules where applicable: Contest Specific Rules Length of Contest Varsity 1. Each game will consist of two (2) 30 minute halves. Junior Varsity 2. Each game will consist of two (2) 25 minute halves. 3. No overtime. Ties end as ties and should be reported by both teams. Overtime 1. Overtime is the extension of playing time necessary to break a tie score. No overtime in regular season. Ties end as ties and should be reported by both teams. 2. See playoff Rules for overtime stipulations. Number of Players 1. Teams must have at least 10 players to begin each game. Once the contest has started, teams may finish the game with fewer players if necessary due to injuries or ejections. The referee has the final authority to end a game due to lack of competition. Equipment 1. Footwear. Players may wear gym shoes or rubber soccer cleats. NO METAL CLEATS ARE ALLOWED. 2. Players may not wear jewelry of any kind, including but not limited to necklaces, earrings, hard hair clips or rings.

3. Eyeglasses must be secured with a strap. IT IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED THAT PLAYERS WEAR CORRECTIVE EYEWEAR DESIGNED FOR ATHLETIC COMPETITION. Parents must supply an eyeglass waiver upon request by the referee. 4. Soccer goals must be properly secured to the ground to prevent accidental tip overs. 5. VARSITY SOCCER BALL SIZE - Size 5 JV SOCCER BALL SIZE - Size 4 "New" Safety Rules for JV Soccer Division Only 1. The use of the "HEADER" will no longer be allowed on the JV Level. 2. Use of the "HEADER" on the JV Level is now a violation and the opposing team will receive an indirect kick. Clarification on Soccer Referee Fees: 1. Varsity - $50.00 per game ($25.00 per team) 2. JV - $40.00 per game ($20.00 per team) Exception: If there is only 1 game scheduled at a field then the referee fees are: 1. Varsity - $60.00-Home Field Team $35.00 and Visiting Team $25.00 2. JV - $50.00-Home Field Team $30.00 and Visiting Team $20.00 Sportsmanship A handshake between the two teams must be performed prior to each contest. Standings 1. Standings are calculated on a point system. a. 2 points for each win b. 1 point for a tie c. 0 points for each loss Note: Points are no longer awarded for shutouts.

Contest Result Reporting The winning team is responsible for reporting scores to the Conference Coordinator (Varsity only) thru the CSCC website. Any scores which have not been reported within 48 hours of the scheduled contest date will be considered a forfeit by both teams. Scores not reported by 7pm of the last day of the season will also be considered a forfeit by both teams. Playoffs 1. The league championship will be determined by a single elimination tournament. 2. The top 8 teams are eligible to compete in the playoffs. 3. Playoff brackets will be created according to a seeding system determined by the regular season results. The team with the highest point total will be seeded first. In the case of ties, seeding will be determined using the following criteria in the order listed: 1. Head to Head competition 2. If teams are tied for the final playoff spot then a play-in game will be played to determine the last spot. 3. The higher seed will be the HOME TEAM in the Quarter-Finals and Semi-Finals. The HOME TEAM is responsible for securing the field and referee. Playoff Rules 1. Playoff games will consist of two thirty-minute halves. 2. If the game is tied, one five-minute overtime period will be played. Extra periods are not sudden victory and must be played to completion even if a goal is scored. If the game is still tied, there will be a shootout. 3. Shootout. a) The referee chooses the goal from at which all kicks from the penalty line will be taken. b) The coach may select any five players, including the goalkeeper, on or off the field to take the kicks. The order in which they will kick must be given to the referee. c) A coin toss will be conducted. The winning team in the coin toss will choose whether to shoot first or second.

d) The teams will alternate kickers. There is no follow-up to the kick. e) The defending team may change goalkeeper prior to each kick. f) All five kickers shoot for each team. The team scoring the greatest number of kicks is the winner. The first round of five kicks is not sudden victory. g) If the score remains tied after each team has had five kicks, each coach must select a different five players to shoot in a sudden victory situation. In this round of kicks, the game will end after any pair of kickers when one scores and the other does not. h) If the score still remains tied, the coaches may select any five players (including those who have already kicked) for another sudden victory round. i) If the score still remains tied, the coaches must select five different players than those who kicked in the previous round to continue in a sudden victory situation. Player Eligibility and Non-Contest specific Rules No-Cut Policy The City-Suburban Catholic Conference has a no cut policy. If a school has enough players who wish to play a team sport, such as soccer, the school athletic board must split the athletes into two equal teams. For soccer, the split is required when there are 24 players. School Representation Players must be full time day students attending the school that they represent. Age Restrictions 1. 8th Graders - Anyone who has not reached their 15th birthday before September 1st of the current year. 2. 7th Graders - Anyone who has not reached their 14th birthday before September 1st of the current year. 3. 6th Graders - Anyone who has not reached their 13th birthday before September 1st of the current year. 4. 5th Graders - Anyone who has not reached their 12th birthday before September 1st of the current year. 5. 4th Graders - Anyone who has not reached their 11th birthday before September 1st of the current year.

6. Northridge Prep will be allowed to play in the CSCC Coed Soccer Program on the Varsity Level with a combined 6th, 7th & 8th Grade Boys Team(s). If there are 2 NRP Boys Teams they must be divided into 2 equal teams in accordance with the CSCC League Rules. * Any coach and/or school that violate any of these age rules shall be suspended from the league on that level for the remainder of the season and must forfeit all games. Rosters 1. Every school must submit a complete roster of all team members and coaches including name, uniform number and date of birth. Each team roster must be signed by the school principal and submitted to the respective boys or girls league chairperson prior to their first contest. Failure to supply said rosters will result in forfeiture of all contests played prior to the receipt of the rosters by the league chairperson. 2. Copies of each team's roster shall be made available to any coach upon request. 3. Players may be added, but only in writing and signed by the School principal, up until 30 days prior to the first scheduled playoff date, at which time rosters will be considered frozen. Player Promotion A student athlete may play up a grade but may not play down. Once a player has played up he/she may not go back down for league competition. Player / Coach Conduct A ny coach or player who during a game receives a total of two yellow cards resulting in a red card for any unsportsmanlike act or conduct must leave the field area and will be suspended for the next game. Any coach or player receiving 2 red cards during the course of the season for any unsportsmanlike act or conduct will be suspended for two games. Any coach or player receiving 3 red cards during the course of the season for any unsportsmanlike act or conduct will be suspended for the remainder of the season (including playoffs). If a coach or parent, in the opinion of the official, is verbally abusive to that official after the game is completed the official may assess the equivalent of a double red card on that person by reporting the incident to the league. This would result in an automatic 2 game suspension that is not subject to review. addition, the Officers of the Conference Board of Athletic Directors will determine if that person will be dismissed from coaching or if that parent will be allowed to attend any more games. Note: Existing rules already address conduct during the contest. Additional Note: Physically abusive behavior is addressed by the State Penal Code. Contest Cancelation and Rescheduling Procedures The following procedures must be followed for canceling or postponing any given game. Coaches may cancel or reschedule games in coordination with their athletic directors. 1. Contact opposing team immediately. 2. Contact Referee Chairman immediately. 3. An effort must be made to reschedule within 48 hours, or it will be constituted as a forfeit by the canceling team. 4. It is the responsibility of the canceling team to arrange for referees through the Referee Chairman. Official Season The dates of the Soccer season will be determined each year by the officers of the City Suburban Catholic Conference. No games will be allowed either before the official start date or after the official end date as determined by the conference.
